Obama: Time to Stop Listening to the ‘Bloggers and Talking Heads’

With the U.S. government reopened after a near-unconditional surrender from congressional Republicans on more federal borrowing and Obamacare, President Barack Obama praised the federal government’s importance to every American’s life.

“We hear all the time about how government is the problem,” the president said Thursday at the White House, hours after signing an agreement reached between the Senate and House of Representatives. SOURCE

I have never had words cut into my mind and burn me to the core like those in quote regarding a near-unconditional surrender from congressional Republicans. I feel like I have been cut by a knife, a deep and long cut, one that could bleed you to death, and one that if you did manage to survive, would leave you with a horrible scar.

Not ALL, but a great many, far too many on the GOP side, gave in to Obama, allowing him to feed his ego and nourish his narcissism to even more invincible levels, invincible in HIS mind and those of his followers perhaps.

Obama said, “We hear all the time about how government is the problem”, and you know, Obama is right, he didn’t intend to be right but he spoke the truth, government IS the problem.

Of course Obama believes that government is not the problem, as far as Obama is concerned, government, and government regulation is the solution to everything, and more government is an even bigger solution.

People not agreeing with Obama and accepting everything he says as the Gospel is what he considers the REAL problem while his followers see any dissent, ANY disagreement with the words of Obama as vile RACISM directed at their Obamessiah.

Then there’s the problem Obama has with *bloggers and talking heads*.

By bloggers Obama refers to people like me and the thousands of other Conservative bloggers in America, well, the more well-known bloggers actually, I doubt that my little blog generates a very big blip on the Obama radar, but bloggers nonetheless.

The fact that at least some of us are well known for our telling of the truth as we see it, for producing well researched posts with irrefutable citation and for engaging in the rapidly dying art of journalistic integrity apparently chaps Obama’s hide a bit.

What seems to give Obama even more grief, is *The Talking Heads*, and I am pretty certain that the talking heads Obama refers to are NOT Chris Matthews and the like.
Hannity, Limbaugh, Levin and the multitude of Conservative talk radio hosts are driving Obama nuts, and in the spirit of Obama and golf, it’s a short drive. 

Conservative talk show hosts have a much wider audience than bloggers and exert much more influence on the face of politics in America. It’s easier to tune in and listen than it is to read I suppose. 

We hear a lot about *print media* dying and I am pretty sure that’s the truth. Blogs such as this have seen a huge downturn in readership and support while talk radio is still growing by leaps and bounds.

Here is the biggest problem facing Conservative American voters as I see it; the GOP, the Republican Party, has rolled over and committed suicide. 

The GOP has abandoned their Conservative supporters and fully embraced the tenants of Liberalism by allowing “A near-unconditional surrender from congressional Republicans” in the face of a challenge that is about to change the direction of this nation, and one that we will face again shortly after the new year.

For a long time I referred to the GOP of late as being nothing more than Dem Lite. I don’t think I’ll be using that phrase any longer, you see, the GOP has taken their platform all the way off the charts of ANY kind of Conservatism and have become a full extension of the Democratic Party. In other words; there is little, if ANY difference between most of the GOP and the Democrats.

Certainly a few brave Senators and Congressmen fought the good fight, they tried to garner the support of their fellows as they attempted to beat this monstrosity called Obamacare, and they tried to make a plan that was acceptable to all concerned regarding the government shutdown, but their efforts were rejected at every attempt. Do you think that future efforts will render a different outcome? Do you think the GOP will suddenly find the courage to stand up to Obama? Do you believe that Obama and Reid will suddenly become receptive to what Conservatives may want?

Do you still believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny?

To those that fought the fight and didn’t give in, you have my congratulations and my most sincere appreciation and admiration! To those cowardly RINOs that folded like a cheap suit and didn’t fight for this nation and the people that put you in Congress and Senate; DAMN YOU TO PERDITION!

The GOP has indeed committed suicide my friends, they now stand arm in arm with the Democrats and Barack Hussein Obama, that is a FACT and one we need to get used to.
We can no longer call ourselves Republicans, if there are still some among us that do. The time is rapidly approaching when we form a true Conservative Party and retake this nation from the hands of the enemy, that enemy being the unholy marriage of the GOP and the Democrats, henceforth; The Republicrats!

I will be officially changing my voter registration to Independent as soon as possible, I will give no money to ANY GOP incumbent or candidate and I encourage everyone that cares about the direction of this nation to do likewise, including those already elected and holding office.

Or, you can take Obama’s advice to heart and stop listening to bloggers…

One of the things I most dreaded about Obama's election the first time, in 2008, was the certain claims of racism that would surely follow in the years ahead every time someone had the temerity to disagree with his position, his philosophy, his ideology, hell, even the color of his tie!   That dread has turned out to be more than prescient.

Over the past five years accusations of racism have been tossed about like bread crumbs to pigeons.  It's ridiculous.

You know, a great number of those people tossing around accusations of racism have never really seen or experienced racism.  Oh, they THINK they have due quite often to the geography of their birth.  But believe me, until you have lived it, breathed it, tasted it, wrestled with it in society and within yourself, you don't know racism.  

Mostly, the false cries of racism are flat-out cynicism.  They disagree with the motives of those who hold differing opinions,  so they refer to them as the lowest kind of human there is -- a racist.  Most of the time it's just a cheap shot at the opposition.

Look.  I disagree with the President -- vehemently.  I despise his socialist ideology.  I could not care less about the color of his skin. 

I disagreed with Jimmy Carter every bit as much as I do Obama.  I never felt that Carter was anything other than a guilt-ridden democrat.  I disagreed with Bill Clinton.  I never thought Clinton was a socialist or Marxist.  Bill, was, well, a con man, a fraud.  He was and, in my assessment, remains all for Bill and self gratification.   Bill's wife, on the other hand, ranks right up there with Obama in my estimation.  The segue from the Obama administration to an H. R. Clinton administration will be so smooth we will hardly even notice the occupant of the Oval Office has changed.

In the article  Robert Redford (the actor) in an interview on CNN is quoted as having said:  " ...  There’s a body of congressional people that want to paralyze the system. I think that what’s underneath it, unfortunately, is there is probably some racism involved, which is really awful.”

According to the Daily Caller article Redford continued in the CNN interview:  "When asked if Obama’s troubles stem from the fact that he doesn’t “look like the norm,” Redford agreed.

“Doesn’t look like the norm in their mind,” he replied. “But I think just the idea of giving credit to this president — giving him credit for anything is abhorrent to them, so they’ll go against it. Never mind the better good of the people. Never mind that they’re supposed to be in office representing the interest of the public. In an article at Hot Air.com, Chris Matthews is quoted as having said:  "They can’t stand the idea that he’s president, and a piece of it is racism. Not that somebody in one racial group doesn’t like somebody in another racial group, so what? It’s the sense that the white race must rule, that’s what racism is, and they can’t stand the idea that a man who’s not white is president. It would seem now that the left has used up their "Blame Bush" quota, they have fallen back on racism as the excuse of the moment for Obama's failure as a President.

Look.  I don't think the color of Obama's skin has anything to do with his failure as President.  It's because he is a Socialist/Marxist President in a nation where at least half of the population still values their freedom and liberty.

Time To Stop The Madness With A Third Party?

Those who follow the nation's politics understand that the creation of a viable and effective third political party in the US is the LAST thing Washington wants.  The dems and repubs will fight a third party with all the power, energy, zeal, vehemence, vigor, cunning, and skulduggery they can manage -- and then some.

Look.  Our political system was designed for multiple political parties ... not just two parties such as we have today. 
Having only two parties is extremely risky.  Over the years we have seen the two parties switch positions and recently we have watched as the Republican Party, supposedly the home of those of the conservative persuasion, adopt the liberal and progressive positions of the Democratic Party on a scale that has rendered the GOP as something of a pale reflection of the party that has been the traditional home of Socialists, Marxists, and Progressives-- the Democratic Party.

What that means to Americans is simply this: We actually have two branches of the same party trying to govern in Washington today ... the Democratic Party and the Democratic Party LITE. The GOP (the Republican Party) exists in name only.

Creation of another political party, as a third political party, is something of a misnomer.  In fact, it would be the creation of a SECOND political party as we currently have only one political party -- with two branches -- in authority in the Congress today.

I mentioned at the beginning of this piece that our Founding Fathers actually meant us to have multiple political parties and not just the two we have come to think were bequeathed to us by The Founders.

President John Adams, one of the most intelligent presidents this country has had the good fortune to have, said this: 

    "There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution."

George Washington, the first President under the constitution,  agreed.  Washington said this in his farewell presidential speech:

    "The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty

    Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind, (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight,) the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.

    It serves always to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble the Public Administration. It agitates the Community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.

    There is an opinion, that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the administration of the Government, and serve to keep alive the spirit of Liberty. This within certain limits is probably true; and in Governments of a Monarchical cast, Patriotism may look with indulgence, if not with favor, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in Governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And, there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be, by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume."

I have come to believe that the current two-party system in America is -- UNAMERICAN.  Here's why I say that: 

Above I mentioned the two parties had merged their  ideologies effectively blurring the lines between them.  But what troubles me even more is the feeling I get that, between them, the two parties have created a "ruling class" in America and THAT is absolutely un-American.

I fear I would not be welcome in any political party these days.  See, I don't like compromise... period.  Compromise is NOT honesty -- therefore compromise cannot be a virtue.  If one believes one's political philosophy, one's core belief,  is correct, then why compromise? Why LIE?  Seems to me that if a man truly believes that WHAT he believes IS THE TRUTH,  he will hold fast and not budge one iota from that position -- for any reason.  That used to be referred to as "having the courage of one's conviction."  Sadly, few, these days, have such conviction -- or courage.

We have become so used to compromise -- going along to get along, group think, being good little socialists -- that when a person who has the courage to stake out a position and refuse to give it up to those who disagree and stands pat and defends his position against all comers, he is pilloried, said to be a mental case, cursed, metaphorically spat upon, and made an outcast of our hypocritical society.

I must tell you, there is something dead and rotting at the core of any society that treats a courageous citizen in that manner.   Look. I may not agree with that person's conviction, but I admire his courage, his honesty.

In the meantime, get used to the mess we have in Congress today.  It WILL get worse. 

There is no constitutional answer to this particular problem.  We can't recall them and we can't dissolve the Congress and hold national elections and send a new crop to DC.  (Would that we could!) We can only lawfully do it -- a handful of seats at a time in both houses -- every two years.

The title to this piece was posed in the form of a question.  My answer to the question is:  "I don't know."  Believe me, that is not meant as some sort of cop-out.  I REALLY don't know.  I cannot escape the feeling that there is something basically, fundamentally, WRONG with the government today.  Not JUST the government, but society, as well.

Like so many Americans today, I am frustrated to the nth degree.  No matter our protestations, the government isn't listening, therefore nothing is resolved -- no matter how hard we try to get our message through to them and acted upon.  It is as though we are racing in a circle, at an ever increasing speed, in an ever decreasing circle.  Only disaster awaits us.

I fear the old constitution-based America is in a death spiral from which it will not, nay, cannot, escape or recover. 

History tells us that when a democracy crashes and burns it is followed by a dictatorship -- every time.  Already, we see evidence of the encroachment of a dictatorship in America today as many of us are convinced we have already entered the "police state" stage of devolvement.

If my assessment proves correct, then another political party won't make much difference now, will it?

Too Much Illegal Immigration

Like many members of my generation, I would not be an American if my Italian and Russian grandparents had not got on the boat and came here. We are fond of calling America “a nation of immigrants”, but what happens when there are too many immigrants, many of whom are here illegally? And that is the problem that has defied a solution since the last big amnesty in 1986.

As Texas Governor Rick Perry said in his book 'Fed Up', “We have already been burned once by false promises of border security in exchange for tying security to other aspects of the immigration debate. President Reagan, in 1986, signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act, which legalized close to 3 million undocumented immigrants.”

“The law was supposed to be a comprehensive solution with provisions intended to clamp down on border security. These provisions were never enforced, and the subsequent explosion in illegal crossings has resulted in some eleven million illegal aliens living in the United States today.”

Amnesty was an issue in the 2012 elections and it will be an issue in 2014 so long the “Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act”,   S.744 awaits a vote. It is a very bad law for a number of reasons. First among them is the fact that there are the millions of aliens who are here illegally, but who cost natural-born and naturalized Americans billions.

At a time of high unemployment, American taxpayers shell out hundreds of billions as the result of illegal immigration in the form of:

# Welfare costs

# Food assistance programs
# Medicaid
# Primary and secondary school education for children who are here illegally
# Incarceration (30% of all federal inmates are illegal aliens)

And these same illegal aliens send billions home in remittances to their countries of origin.

I thought about this as I watched the news coverage of a gathering on the National Mall of advocates of S.744, rallying for its passage.

At the time, the Mall was closed to American citizens, including veterans, because of the government shutdown. That did not stop the “Camino Americano March for Dignity and Respect” from gaining permission to rally. Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi showed up to lend support along with Democrat and Republican Congressional Representatives of Latino heritage.

The Democrats know that, if they issue a form of instant citizenship to illegal aliens, most of whom are Latino, they will have a loyal voting bloc that will give them control of Congress and the White House for decades to come. They don’t really care what impact the expansion of already over-extended entitlement and welfare programs will have on the economy.

Steven A. Camarota, Director of Research of the Center for Immigration Studies, an independent, non-partisan, non-profit research organization, recently addressed the impact of S.744 in an analysis titled “How Many New Voters Would S.744 Create?”

Here are some of his findings:

# Based on the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analysis of S.744, we project that the bill will add 4.6 million new potential voters above the number added by the current level of legal immigration by 2024. The bill would add 9.5 million potential voters by 2028 and 17.3 million by 2036.

# Of the new potential voters S.744 would create by 2036, slightly more than one-third would be a result of the bill’s amnesty provisions based on CBO projections, the rest are due to the bill’s large increases in future legal immigration.

# Even without the effects of S.744, the current level of immigration will add 5.1 million new potential voting-age citizens to the country by 2024, 8.4 million by 2028, and 14.9 million by 2036.

# Combined, the current level of immigration plus the additions from S.744 would create nearly 10 million potential voting-age citizens by 2024, and more than 32 million by 2036.

# The 32 million potential voters current immigration plus S.744 will create is slightly larger than the number of Americans over age 65 who voted in 2012. It is more than twice the number of veterans who voted in 2012, and nearly three times the number of Hispanics who voted last year.

# For legal permanent immigrants to be potential voters they must be at least 18 years old and have lived in the country for at least five years, allowing them to naturalize. For most amnesty beneficiaries under S.744, it will take at least a decade for them to naturalize.

# These projections are only for potential immigrant voters, not their U.S.-born children. The projections take into account deaths, return-migration, and residency requirements to naturalize. We do not estimate the share that will actually naturalize and vote once eligible to do so.

Camarota’s analysis adds up to 17 million potential voters within 25 years.

The United States of America is broke and both parties that have held the White House have contributed to the debt, although it is a fact that President Obama has literally doubled it since taking office in 2009. Entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, will have to be reformed if they are to continue. In their present form they are financially unsustainable.

Now add in an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens and their children, just because they decided to jump to the front of the line instead of seeking citizenship as so many others have. Either we have borders or we don’t.
