Weapons in Space ???

(This Post first ran in May of 2005!)

Weapons in Space?

The MSM is becoming exorcised over the possibility of the US placing defensive, as well as offensive, weapons in space.

My first thought, upon hearing this, was: “You mean to tell me they are not there already???

I cannot conceive of our nation NOT having defensive weapons in space… at the very least. The satellites we have out there are vital, essential, to the everyday operation of this country… and government. They need protection. Even the Pentagon admits that should our satellites be destroyed, or taken over by an enemy, it could bring this nation to its knees.

We have known, since day one in space, that we would have to be prepared to place weapons there. Anyone, with an ounce of sense, knows the country controlling the skies over our heads controls us! We cannot allow that to happen!

Missile bases on the moon? Why not? I see no difference in placing the missiles in orbit... or on the surface of the moon. None. Both are excellent vantage points and the perfect bombing platform to reach any spot on the globe.

It is understood the Pentagon has spent a huge amount of money developing these weapons and is now ready for a Presidential Directive to deploy them.

There will be weeping and wailing and condemnation, from our less than friendly allies, all over the world. The UN will be heard from. All will be decrying the placement of weapons, of any kind, defensive or offensive, in space. But it is coming and will be a done deal shortly.

Some space weapons will have the capability of knocking out missiles, aimed for the US, shortly after they leave their launchers on earth. Others will stand permanent guard over our communications and military satellites. This is as it should be. We have a right to protect ourselves, regardless of the howls of protest, which will surely arise as soon as the MSM plasters this “alarming” news all over their papers and evening news broadcasts.

As I said, near the beginning of this post…. I will be more than a little surprised to learn that we do not already have space-based weapons systems deployed now. I will sleep better at night knowing the guardians above are “at the ready” in case one, or more, of our many enemies decides it is time to strike.

Weapons in space is an idea whose time came a long time ago!

Are you willing to raise taxes to pay for this? Boy you are bent on world domination aren't you? Protect our satellites from what? And you call democrats loony. That doesn't sound like a fiscally conservative spending program to me. Maybe we should get the right wing loonies and put them on an island and let them just sit and be worried that everyone is coming for them. Maybe they are, and if they are did you ever stop to wonder what your own copability in that situation is? Ever take responsability for you own actions that cause others to dislike you? You can't make someone like you just because you think your o.k. maybe your not o.k. and you are the one that needs to change. repeat after me "God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the WISDOM to know the difference." If you want peace, you have to become peacefull but your fear and intollerence must eat you up inside, sad ole' friend, real sad.

Frank, I have managed to make it to this ripe old age by not giving a rat's rear end whether people like me... or not. If I did, I sure as hell wouldn't have a blog site, which is dedicated to OPINION! I simply don't care. What you see is what you get. Don't like it? ... Move along.

One the other hand... a government's primary duty... it's number one responsibility is to protect it's citizens. Period. Whatever it takes. We cannot sit around and ponder our navals and worry about what other people think about us. When we do that we get into wars we cannot win, we wind up carrying half the world on our backs while our taxpayers pay thru the nose, and we allow pipsqueak nations, still riding camels, and living in tents, to hold us hostage to a naturally occuring liquid which we use to fuel the largest economy on the planet.

Sound familiar? It's where we are now.

We need to stop staring at our collective navals and take care of business.

As for dominating the world. hell, I don't want to dominate it, I want it to leave my country the hell ALONE! When they insist on creating mischief, we should squash them completely, as quickly as possible, by whatever means necessary, and then move on. I feel no responsibility for anyone outside the US. That's a huge difference between conservatives and liberals. Conservatives are not burdened by guilt.
