Why is no one correcting the lies that the US stole all that land in the Southwest from Mexico??? Could it be they want us to remain ignorant on the subject? Do you suppose?

OK, let’s set the record straight and look at some facts.

First, The Mexican War:
The Mexican War began with a Mexican attack on American troops along the southern border of Texas on Apr. 25, 1846. It ended when the US occupied Mexico City on Sept. 14, 1847. A peace treaty was signed at Guadalupe Hidalgo on February 2nd, 1848. Mexico officially recognized the US annexation of Texas and ceded California and New Mexico plus, all the present-day states of the Southwest, to the United States.

Nicholas P. Trist represented the United States and signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo for the US. A special commission, representing the collapsed government of Mexico, signed for the country of Mexico.

So, what was in the treaty? Well, under the terms of the treaty, Mexico ceded to the United States Upper California and New Mexico (including Arizona…) and… Mexico recognized U.S. claims over Texas, with the Rio Grande as its southern boundary.

So what about the money? Who got what? The United States paid Mexico $15,000,000, …and… assumed the claims of American citizens against Mexico ($3.25 Million), … and… recognized prior land grants in the Southwest, … and… offered citizenship to any Mexicans residing in the area. Then, a few years later, the US bought the land that is now Arizona and New Mexico from Mexico for another 6 million dollars.

OK, so why did we need that additional land?

After the end of the Mexican-American War, in 1848, there were still border disputes between the United States and Mexico. Land that now makes up lower Arizona and New Mexico just happened to be land that a proposed southern route for a transcontenental railroad would pass through. President Franklin Pierce was convinced by none other than Jefferson Davis (Later the First President of the Confederate States of America), then the US Secretary of War, to send James Gadsden (who, by the way, had personal interests in the rail route) to negotiate the Gadsden Purchase with Mexico. An agreement was arrived at under which the U.S. paid Mexico $10 million. But… it seems, there was a problem with the money. See, even though the agreement specified $10 million, the US Congress only agreed to pay $7 million. When the money finally arrived in Mexico City, $1 million, somehow, had been lost, and, as a result, $6 million was the amount Mexico actually got for the sale of that land. Hey, they set the price… we paid it!

Run the numbers and you will find that the US paid Mexico $24, 250,000.00 (24 million, two-hundred-and-fifty-thousand) US dollars for the land in the Southwest US which many claim, today, we (The US) stole!

You know, I get a bit tired, and even short-tempered, with folks who attempt to perpetuate an untruth by the act of sheer ommission. As a Southerner, I know how that can hurt. To say the US stole all that land in the Southwest is a flat-out lie. So, 24 and-a-quarter-million isn’t much money? Not by today’s standards, perhaps, but back in the mid 1800’s we’re talking about somewhere in the area of $600,000,000.00! Now that IS big bucks!

So, next time you hear someone prattling on about how the US stole all the southwestern United States from Mexico, set them straight. Tell them we bought it and we paid for it . If they refuse to believe you refer them to the Guadalupe Hidalgo Treaty and the Gadsden’s Purchase a few years later. It’s all there. It’s a part of history. A part of history students in the American government schools apparently never hear about.

Of course, the claims that we stole the land from Mexico is all a part of the propaganda being employed to saddle Americans with more undeserved guilt. People who feel guilty will ofttimes respond in the way those proding them wish them to respond. That is what is hoped for with all the unmitigated garbage heaped on America today.

Actually, as I view the relationship between the US and Mexico today, I tend to agree with those who feel we ought to annex the entire country of Mexico and run it as an American territory. I mean, it’s not like we are not supporting the country of Mexico these days. The billions of US dollars a year pouring into Mexico, from their citizens who have burglerized the US, is staggering! Not to mention how much money Mexico saves by exporting their poverty to the United States!

The propaganda mills of the poilitical left continue to crank out distorted versions of history. Few ever question the veracity of the claims the US “stole” what is now the southwestern United States from Mexico.

Get ready for more of the same, especially if the liberal/socialists gain, as we expect they will, in the elections this November. The Amnesty Bill will be back and this time, it will be passed, because they don’t give a damn what the American people want! They see “V O T E R S “ and “C H E A P L A B O R”.

No matter which of the candidates for President wins, support for the Amnesty Bill is solid with either one of them. The Immigration Bill, the Amnesty Bill, is an abomination. I’ll be leaning on my Senators from North Carolina, over the months ahead, to vote against that bill every time it comes up. But, frankly, I expect it to pass in the next Congress.

A recent poll shows that Black Americans are supporting Obama 94 to 1 over McCain. During the Democratic primary Obama was running 90 to 10 margins over Clinton among black Americans. Now, you can put any spin you want on it and you can “prettify” it any way you choose, but the plain fact is… it is a display of raw racism. Black racism.

We continually hear calls for an “Honest Debate on Racism in America”. The problem with that is… black Americans are nowhere near ready for an honest debate about racism in this country.

I watched in the early days of the Obama campaign to see if I could identify the moment when those white voters, flocking to the Obama campaign, would begin to fall away. Well, it has happened. And it has happened earlier than I had expected.

A few days ago I wrote that Obama’s European Photo Op would hurt him among voters in America. There is now no doubt that rather than showing him as a “statesman” it showed him, more truthfully, as an American liberal/ socialist, which is exactly what we have been saying right from the start of his campaign. Somehow, and for whatever reason, the American voter had to see him in his element, the throngs of European socialists who chased after him, tongues dragging the ground, salivating for every pearl of wisdom dropping from his golden tonsils. It was a HUGE turn-off and, as we predicted, it hurt him back home. The image he projected back home was one of already having won the presidency and “strutting his stuff” among the peons of the world.

With the Mainstream Media/Press solidly in Obama’s corner, the American voter instinctively knows Obama is wrong for America. News reports tell us that the Media’s campaign donations go100 to 1 to Obama’s campaign and the democrats! As in all things, follow the money!

Ms. Parker is “dead on” with her take on why Obama is not doing better in the polls here at home.

The bloom, it would seem, is off the rose. The rose colored glasses have faded and American voters are beginning to see Obama for what he really is…. and they don’t like it.

“The debate that will not happen” WOULD have been about racism in America. The reason it will not be held is because, to have an honest debate there would have to be discussions of black racism. So far, the political left in America and a large portion of the political right in America will not admit that Black people can be racists. We Americans today live in a hypocritical cocoon about racism. We know, instinctively, that black racism exists. We see it. And yet we deny it because it is the politic thing to do. We are living a lie, and we know it, and still we trudge on dragging this anvil through a minefield fused by overly sensitive “feelings”.

An “honest” debate about racism in America will never happen because… we are not willing to be honest. As a result we will never heal.

We White Southern Americans have learned to live with being called racists. We paid for our perceived sins, in spades, and yet more is required of us and we are unwilling to give anymore. Enough is enough. It has hardened us. We look at those calling for that “Honest Debate on Racism” and we smile at their naiveté. For, of all Americans, we know best that no debate will ever take place. Too much is at stake for those who claim themselves targets of racism.

Is there racism in America? Yes. Black and white racism? Yes. Will there continue to be racism in America? Yes. Will racism play a part in the Presidential Election this November? Yes. And there you have it. The truth.

“Why the Confederate Battle Flag Will Never Be Hauled Down in Dixie!”

When you ask me, as a Southerner, to give up the Confederate Battle Flag… do you have any idea what you are asking me… and… why what you are asking is impossible and is not going to happen? I don’t think you do.

Have you ever wondered why that flag never seems to go away? Why that flag appears all over the world, even in Africa, when freedom movements are born? Where once it stood for the fight of the Southern states for freedom and independence, it has become a universal ensign of the fight for freedom! Did you see the Confederate Battle Flag when the Berlin wall came down? Did you see the Confederate Battle Flag being waved proudly in the streets of Belgrade when Milosevic was arrested and went to trial? Did you see the Confederate Battle Flag in the Sudan? Yes, even among the black people of the Sudan the Confederate Battle Flag was their choice of an emblem for their freedom movement.

We Southerners cannot give up that flag. For in doing so, we recognize we would be rejecting our families. We would be denying who we, as a people, are. Make no mistake about it; the Southern people are a different people from those who settled the northern part of this great nation. We are, for the most part, of Celtic ancestry. We do not accept defeat. If you ever wonder why the South didn’t just lie down and roll over after Lee’s surrender at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia, there’s your answer.

There are those in the South who have not yet given up on the idea of Southern Independence. There is a feeling that eventually the US will crumble, and collapse, from the accumulated weight of it’s ever growing federal government. Some even look forward to that day as the day when the Southern states will again seek their independence.

We’ve all seen the bumper stickers with the caricature of an old Confederate soldier, obviously disgruntled, and the expression: “Forget, Hell!” written across the sticker. There is more truth in those pop culture bumper stickers than most of us, north AND south, are comfortable with. There is an undercurrent of discomfiture running through the American bloodstream.

March 8th, 2008 was Confederate Flag day in North Carolina. On that day the First National Flag of the Confederacy was raised above the State Capitol Building, in Raleigh, and remained there, all day, as festivities were enjoyed around the city. Confederate reenactors (Re-activated Confederate soldiers, as we refer to them … just for the day, of course!) were all over. There were speeches, and many events in remembrance of that period in our history. Mr. Thomas Moore was the keynote speaker for this year’s event. The title of his speech was: “The Unconquered Banner”. We recommend you read his speech. You’ll find it at:

I hope you have read it. If you have, what I have said above will make more sense to you… especially if you do not enjoy the happy coincidence of being born a “Southerner”.

No, the St. Andrew’s Cross, the Confederate Battle Flag, will never disappear. Wherever men seek freedom, wherever men value honor, and loyalty, and love of God, family, and country, that flag will fly. For it is an undying symbol of all those things… and more. It stands for the bravery of men who will willingly lay down their lives for the idea that men are born with the unalienable right of freedom, no matter the color of their skin, no matter their station in life, no matter the despotic forces arrayed against them. And it stands for the proud heritage of a singular people who first marched onto a battlefield beneath its billowing folds to fight and die, as their fathers and grandfathers before them, for Independence.

It occurred to me a while ago that as the federal government of this land continues to clench its mailed fist around the few remaining freedoms we Americans have left, that Confederate Battle Flag will be seen flying from doorpost after doorpost from the Gulf of Mexico to the Canadian border and from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast as Americans recognize what is happening in this country and decide to show their support for a return to the freedom granted them, as Americans, under the original constitution of the United States of America.

The Republic of the North!

Note from Ed: We wrote this piece back in April of 2006. It was posted shortly thereafter. So, if some of the material appears dated, that is because IT IS.

We also posted this same piece again in June of 2007. Looking around us today, we see that nothing, much, has changed, so we felt it might be a good time to post it again. And...may we be so bold as to suggest that we Americans ought to wonder, seriously, WHY nothing has changed.

While we are asking these things of ourselves, maybe we should also ask... how the hell we wound up with two Presidential candiates, from different political parties who are determined to see that the situation, along our southern border, does NOT CHANGE NOW! Looking deeper, still, ought we not ask ourselves if we are truly prepared to cast a precious ballot in favor of either of the candidates when the future of, the security of, and the union of, this country is at stake?

We live in perilous times, dear reader. We have dispatched our tiny military to fight and die in foreign wars to secure two other countries and we are pouring millions into those countries, when all clear thinking individuals know that the moment we pull our precious military out of both those countries they will revert to their former state of "strongman dictatorships" or a nation ruled by "religious fanatics".

Now, I am not besmerching the US Military's role in those middle Eastern nations. And I have never quavered in my support of the war in Iraq, nor in Afghanistan, and I do not do so now. But, it seems to me, we need a "National Home Guard", federally funded, to secure and patrol the southern border, yes, and even the Northern border, too. Our Border Patrol is simple overwhelmed. They cannot do the job that is required today. The invasion from the south is simply overruning the Border Patrol. We need 100,000 to 150,000 US troops on that border to secure it. (I know that is approximately the same number of troops we have in Iraq at the moment!) By securing it... I mean stopping anything that comes across it, "unauthorized", and not coming through "authorized crossing points" and even THEN allowed in ONLY with the proper documentation. That will, of necessity, mean the troops will have to be authorized to use their weapons and use "deadly force", if needs be, to prevent "unauthorized incursions" into our country.

What we have is the massive "breaking and entering" of a sovereign country, on a scale never before seen by mankind. Plus, we have known, for a very long time, the ultimate goal is the retaking of lands, by Mexicans, which the US bought... and paid for... a very long time ago. You won't see that fact reported in the MsM... if at all.

The "Republic of the North" is not some wild conspiracy theory. No. It is actually happening... right now... right in front of our eyes. Mexico is exporting their poverty stricken citizens into the great "money cow" to the north and reaping approximately 1/3 of their national financing from the millions upon millions of "Yankee dollars" those illegal aliens from Mexico are sending back to their "Mother Country". All the while, the drain on our resources is devastating to the US economy.

If the federal government will not act to provide the troops to patrol the border, isn't is about time the border states and neighboring southern states form state militias, arm and train them, and place them along each particular state's portion of the border?

Let's face it. The fence will not be built in time to do any good, if it is ever built at all, which is my fear, frankly. The fence could be nearly completely finished by now. No, I am not kidding. Americans can do almost anything, and in record time, when we set our collective minds and backs to it. The problem is, our own government does not want the fence built and they do not want to secure the border. Otherwise, the fence would be up and the border would be secured by armed US troops with orders to shoot interlopers.

So, go back a couple of years now and read the piece below. It may shed a new light on what you know, and what you have come to believe, about the security, or lack thereof, of our southern border with Mexico. ... J.D. Longstreet

The Republic of the North! (And You Thought I was Kidding!)

A few months ago, I ran a post in which I made reference to “Aztlan” an area made up of the Southwestern States of the US and the Northern States of Mexico as a new and separate nation. Many readers thought I was just blowing smoke!

Ok, so now comes news that just might prove that we weren’t as far off base as you may have thought.Now they call it the “Republic of the North”.

If you look at the map you will quickly see that the area referred to as the Republic of the North is composed of : the southern part of Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California as well as Mexican states of: Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Coahuila, Chihuahua, Sonora, and Baja California.

When one looks at this huge piece of land, one is first provoked to laughter, until one realizes they are actually doing what must be done to acquire this chunk of real estate and establish a new nation. Their plans are to grow in numbers until they have the voting power to force an affirmative vote, of the electorate of those states, which happen to be in the US, to secede. It would be no real problem to force Mexico to allow those northern states, which are a drain on its treasury to leave... especially, if the new nation forming was to be friendly to Mexico. I worry that the "Republic of the North" is just a cover for their real aim which is AZTLAN!

I, frankly, don’t believe the people of America have the passion, anymore, for this land, for their country, to go to war, if necessary, to stop them from simply stealing a huge chunk of our western and southwestern states. Those who are proposing this secession are doing so openly and they are counting on the US allowing them to simply ‘take’ those states. I wouldn’t bet against them.

It doesn’t seem to matter that the US Supreme Court ruled, way back in 1869, that the US could not be broken up by secession, again. But, you see, in the 1860’s the US was composed of REAL men, and REAL women, with the "stones" to go to war for what they felt was right. We have grown soft and we have grown lazy and it would simply be too much trouble to stop anyone wishing to take a full one third of our country away.

Doubt me?

Well, look at you newspapers. Check the TV news. Check the news on the Internet. It’s happening… right now… right before our eyes… and we cannot get our Congress, nor our President, to do anything about it!

Now, do you still doubt me???

Look, those Mexicans, stealing across our southern border, are not assimilating into the American population. They are remaining apart. They continue to hold fast to their language, Spanish, instead of adopting the language of the land they say they wish to become a part of. The latter is proof, so far as I am concerned, that the illegal immigrants have no intention of ever becoming a part of the American citizenry. They see America as a huge money tree and they can sneak across the border and snatch as much of the fruit of that tree as possible before being discovered and forced to go back home.

I ask you, do we really want citizens who broke the law to get here in the first place? They are already criminals. To bring even more criminals into our midst makes no sense to me… at all.

So… where’s the fence? Where’s the wall along the border with Mexico. Where is the armed military to patrol that border?

If that fence gets built you can bet it will be built with the money of private US citizens who wish to secure their country and not by one dime from the federal treasury... not from the crowd of Yo-Yo’s we sent to Washington to represent us and insure our safety.

We need a national fund drive to accept donations toward building a border fence and we need to get it started right away… the sooner the better.

Dear Readers, it would appear that, if we are to save our country, it will be up to us, the lowly private citizen. If the Government is not going to work with us on this, then they damn well ought not work against us!

Another "Empty", "Useless", Apology!

Another “Empty” Apology!

Well, I see the US House of Representatives has apologized for slavery in the US. Now, just so the record is straight… I’ll be darned if I will apologize! I had nothing to do with it, and I refuse to be saddled with a blanket of guilt for something I had nothing to do with! I just want that to be clear! I feel NO NEED to apologize and... therefore... I refuse to ACT as if I am sorry for something for which I am wrongly accused! Never!

Alan is “dead-on” with his perspective, as usual, I might add.

This “apology” is what we folks, down south, call: “A crock”.

We Southern Americans know this arrow is aimed at the heart of Old Dixie. As a Dixican, I resent the heck out of that! Check your US History and you will find that SLAVERY WAS LEGAL IN THE ENTIRE US. It was constitutionally protected! It was “Northern Slavers” whose ships brought the slaves from Africa to this country. (And European ships, too, of course.) It was Northern Slavers who sold the Africans, at auction, in the New England States. Some of the richest families of the Northern states can trace their family fortunes directly back to the slave trade. And finally, for the record, the very first anti-slavery laws in the US were passed in the SOUTH!

So, now that the US House of Representatives has opened the door to all sorts of claims for reparations, you can get your checkbooks and pockets books out and place them at the ready. For claims will come. You can bet on it.

Reparations? To whom? There is hardly a human being alive, of any race, who cannot trace his/her ancestry back to slavery… somewhere on this earth. Absolutely no reparations! None! So far as I am concerned, it is not even open for discussion, period! And, by the way, if reparations are to be discussed, then ought we not to begin with the American Indians, the Native Americans?

Seems to me the Congress would be better served, as would the American people, if the House of Representatives would seriously look at modern day problems such as allowing oil drilling off shore, and in ANWR, for new deposits of oil. But, no, the crowd in charge now is into “showboating”, big time, because liberals lead ithe Congress now and liberals base all their decisions on emotion(s). Clear thinking be damned. If it FEELS good… do it! Exhibit “A”: their belief in the hoax of man-made Global Warming!

Isn’t it about time America stopped apologizing for being the greatest country in the history of this planet? It is about time we begin making attempts to avoid the slimy snail trail of the Politically Correct Crowd and stand on our feet as men, and women, unashamed, and unapologetic, for being who we are…. citizens of the greatest nation on the face of the earth!
