Alert! Immigration Bill Back on Senate Floor Next Week!

Alert! Immigration Bill Back on Senate Floor Next Week!
*******************************

Another attempt to “snooker” the American public is scheduled for mid week, next week and the Senate Majority leader, Harry Reid, is said to be preparing to bring the “Immigration Bill” back to the Senate floor for debate.

The latest ruse… $4.4 billion in added border security spending to be added to the bill, supposedly to make it more palatable to those of us who see it for what it is… an Amnesty Bill.

Read the article at Fox News for the details. Go Here:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0%2C2933%2C282593%2C00.html

Time to get the e-mail humming to your Senators again. Phone calls work well, too. Faxes are also important.

We were fairly sure it was premature to declare the death of the Immigration Bill, last week. And sure enough, here it comes again. We have no choice but to man the barricades once again.

Isn’t there something very sad and very telling when the people of a country have to “force” their own government to respond to the wishes of their people? Isn’t it telling as to how far we have traveled down the road toward “totalitarian government”? Have we learned anything??? I doubt it!

“Once more, into the breach”, Conservatives !!!

The "FUBAR" that is The Iraq War !

The US Military Needs a Housecleaning!
*******************
The US Military needs a house cleaning! I mean… we need to purge the US Military… specifically the US Army and the Marine Corp (the two services I like to refer to as the "Fighting Forces") of all the paper pushing, Yale and Harvard degreed, “Parade Ground Generals” and install some “by-God-Fighting-Men” in those positions!

I watched the news reports of the Lap Dog Generals making their way to Congress and fawning over that bunch of Old Hippies and Flower Children from the “sixties”, who couldn’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag, and it is purely disgusting!

Look, you can’t win a war by pushing paper! You don’t win wars by kissing the collective rear ends of Congress. You win wars by killing as many of the enemy as you can, as often as you can, and breaking everything that belongs to him, at every opportunity! THAT is NOT what we are doing in IRAQ!

We need to throw out the new SecDef. and install a Fighting General. We’d probably have to borrow a REAL fighting General from Israel to get one, but so be it. As a matter of fact, maybe we ought to look into the possibility of leasing the IDF for a few weeks to clean up the mess the Pentagon, the President, and the piss poor generals we have in charge, have made.

Look, I’m a veteran. I was probably the worst soldier the US Army ever had. But, I learned. I learned that to win ears … the first thing you have to do is…fight the war! You don’t continue to prop-up your enemy. When in doubt…. shoot ‘em! Let God sort them out!

We need to begin looking in the ranks of the Colonels, in today’s services, and see if there are some fighting men there. If they are… promote them to generalships and get the armed forces off their collective arse and into a so-nuff fight! The Privates, Spec- 4’s, Sergeants, the Warrants, the Lt.s, Captains, Majors, and even a few Colonels are ready to fight, but I have become convinced, of late, they have no leadership at the top of those services! It’s sorta like taking a finely tuned football team, placing them on the field with the opposing team, and then the coach locks himself in the locker room! There is no leadership!

We desperately need a George Patton, a Nathan B. Forrest, a Bobby Lee, a John Singleton Mosby, and a… hell, ANYBODY who can F-I-G-H-T!

And another thing… get the lawyers off the battlefield and out of the planning rooms and as far from those who devise strategy as is humanly possible.

Frustrated? You bet, I’m frustrated! There is no excuse for the mess we have in Iraq! None! We have the finest military in the world! What that military apparently DOES NOT have is LEADERSHIP! FIGHTING LEADERSHIP! We should have gone through Iraq, as Patton would say, “like crap through a goose!” Why didn’t we? The primary cause was too few troops on the ground. Air power is a wonderful thing, but you win wars with boots on the ground! If war planners decide we need 200,000 troops to pacify an area, put 400, 000 in. It’s called “Overpowering Force”. Completely overrun the country. Overpowering Force means fewer causalities and the will to resist is smothered in the enemy. We didn’t do either.

I spoke with a gentleman, yesterday, who had three sons in the US military. He lost one son, in action in Iraq, last year, and the other two are about to begin their THIRD deployment to Iraq. There is no excuse for this. We are dragging out a “piss-ant conflict” that could have, and should have, been over in weeks!

Yes, I’m upset with the war in Iraq. But not for the popular reasons! I’m upset because we are NOT FIGHTING A War! We’re sort of playing around at fighting a war. We’re placating the enemy. We’re “Nation Building”. Have we deluded ourselves into thinking we can seduce a people who have just graduated from living in tents, in the desert, into creating a democratic nation???? Are we nuts??? Apparently! If we succeed, on the surface, as the last US troops leave, chaos will reign, once again, in that land… as it always has.

We should have gone in, taken down their cities, taken down their infrastructure, taken down whatever government they had, laid waste to the land, seized the oil fields, and, in general, raised havoc! We didn’t. And as a result, we get no respect from them, and they don’t even fear us,

What a mess! If you are familiar with the acronym: FUBAR, you understand exactly how I feel about the Iraqi mess!

So what to do? Frankly, we’ll have to start over! Yeah, I know, it’s crazy! Have the troops stand down, pull them back to, oh, say, Kuwait. Fire all the generals in charge now. Rest the troops up for 30 days, then invade Iraq once again with a whole new set of Generals who don’t mind getting their hands dirty, who don’t mind doing whatever it takes to pacify that place. Whatever it takes!

Is it going to happen? Of course not!

I feel sorry for our troops. They’ll have that millstone around their necks the remainder of their lives.

Time to Annex Mexico! ... by Alan Caruba

Time to Annex Mexico!
By Alan Caruba

******************
Since we obviously cannot safeguard our border with Mexico, why not just annex Mexico? Let’s declare Mexico a protectorate of the United States and set about governing it in a benevolent, but self-interested way. In time, we could incorporate it as several new States.

The current illegal flow of Mexicans and Central Americans to the United States constitutes the largest diaspora in modern history. An estimated 10% of Mexico’s population of more than 107 million people is now living in the United States. About 15% of Mexico’s labor force is working in the United States and one in every seven Mexican workers migrates to the United States.

The immediate benefits of annexation are obvious. Mexico’s oil industry is its largest provider of revenue, but is very poorly managed. Its vast revenues are not benefiting the Mexican people who clearly feel compelled to emigrate to the United States. The Mexican government relies on oil income because its national tax evasion rate is more than 40%.

Given America’s growing need for oil, annexing Mexico and denationalizing its oil industry would permit the investment necessary to upgrade it while providing less reliance on foreign sources in the turbulent Middle East or Venezuela.

The second largest source of income for Mexico is the remittances Mexicans who are illegally in the United States send home. It is currently estimated at between $23 and $25 billion. That is equal to the foreign aid the United States annually provides to the entire world. It is nearly equal to what Mexico’s oil industry generates every year.

It is U.S. money that is literally going south while native-born and naturalized Americans are required to fund our education and health systems that provide free care for illegal Mexicans and their families, a vast number of whom qualify for welfare as well. The U.S. is literally importing poverty. Economist Robert J. Samuelson has noted that, “the ranks of the poor are constantly replenished. Since 1980, the number of Hispanics with incomes below the government’s poverty line (about $19,300 in 2004 for a family of four) has risen 162 percent.”

Meanwhile, a June 2004 agreement between the U.S. and Mexico that is waiting for
President Bush’s signature would literally bankrupt the Social Security system if approved by Congress. The Totalization Agreement could allow millions of illegal Mexicans to draw billions of dollars from the U.S. Social Security Trust Fund.

A study by the United Nations Population Fund concluded that remittances to Mexico are, in fact, not helping that nation’s economy. The money is primarily spent on groceries and other daily expenses. A study by the Banco de Mexico, its central bank, came to the same conclusion, noting that reliance on remittances was itself a cause of poverty since it provides fewer incentives to seek other sources of income.

By annexing Mexico and encouraging American business and industry to expand there, creating new jobs, improving that nation’s prosperity, Mexicans would have less need to relocate in America. Even a Mexican government spokesman, addressing a press conference in January 2006, acknowledged that many of the illegals are actually seeking “a better condition of life despite the fact that they had work here.”

Then there’s the issue of crime. Mexico is a major corridor for the drug cartels that feed the addictions of American citizens. The cartels are violent and have corrupted the governance of Mexico at all levels. By annexing Mexico, we can more effectively battle this pernicious enemy that already threatens the peace of many southwestern cities and communities.

There is the language problem and, frankly, English will have to become a mandatory second language for Mexicans if they insist on coming to America to work or live here. Many Americans throughout the southwest have had to learn Spanish just to converse with their neighbors and to conduct business. For generations, Puerto Ricans have routinely learned and used both languages.

Will we allow Mexicans to vote in American elections? Yes, but only when they become Americans! Initially we would need a long period of assimilation and acceptance of American values in the same fashion we currently mandate for those seeking citizenship through our naturalization process.

American laws and jurisdiction to facilitate trade, guarantee the rights of their citizens, and initiate a crackdown on the drug cartels that threaten the police, the courts, and other Mexican leaders would replace current Mexican laws.

There is more than a bit of arrogance for thousands of Mexicans, illegal aliens, to march in the streets of American cities demanding that we grant them privileges equal to Americans without the responsibilities of citizenship, i.e., paying taxes and obeying our laws.

The greatest benefit of annexation is that America would avoid becoming a de facto Third World nation.

Mexico would not cease to exist. It would become a functioning element of an expanded United States of America. Mexican-Americans would enjoy the full benefits of citizenship while retaining their unique history and culture. In the past, America has achieved this with millions of former Irish, Italian, Russian, German, and other nationalities.

Mexico as a separate nation on our southern border threatens our sovereignty by virtue of openly and deliberately encouraging millions of its citizens to ignore our laws, enter our nation illegally, and benefit from our economy.

Mexico as a protectorate and, eventually, a part of America, is a realistic, rational solution. Mexicans are here already. Let’s make them Americans who will want to live in the former nation of Mexico.

Impossible, you say? Probably yes, and, in truth, I am content to let Mexico be Mexico, but if you have begun to see how impossible it is for the United States to continue absorbing millions of illegal immigrants, then you will understand why the defeat of the immigration “reform” legislation is a victory for the sovereignty and security of the United States.

Sons of Confederate Veterans Fire Back at SC Methodists!

Sons of Confederate Veterans Fire Back at SC Methodists!
**********************
Delegates attending the South Carolina United Methodist Conference last week in Florence passed a resolution calling for the removal of the Confederate battle flag from the Statehouse grounds, according to church officials.

Your may read the entire article at:
www.charleston.net/news/2007/jun/10/methodists_move_confederate_flag/

On Tuesday, June 12, 2007, The Sons of Confederate Veterans fired back with the following News Release concerning the SC Methodists action:

Sons of Confederate VeteransPublic Relations and Media CommitteeElm Springs, TN

Elm Springs, Tennessee. June 12, 2007

The following statement was released today by Christopher M. Sullivan, Commander-in-Chief, Sons of Confederate Veterans headquartered in Elm Springs, Tennessee:

"We, of the Sons of Confederate Veterans are distressed to learn of the passage by a divided and narrow margin, a resolution by the South Carolina United Methodist Conference regarding the removal of flags at the South Carolina Statehouse grounds.

“Many members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans are also members of the Methodist Church.“Because of their loyalty to local Methodist affiliations in localities throughout South Carolina, they have not until now, spoken out regarding the divisive leftward slant the church has taken in recent years. “We are hearing their protests at the headquarters of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and are compelled to address their concerns.

“A large segment of the membership of the United Methodist Church in South Carolina is made up of generations of families who proudly proclaim Confederate veterans in their ancestry. Many of the local church cemeteries are the final resting place for loyal church members and their families, who served the Confederacy.

“As devoted as their love and honor of their ancestors is, they do not believe the church is the place to advance a partisan political agenda. The course described in the controversial resolution advanced by a leftist group at the South Carolina United Methodist Conference is purely a partisan political issue designed to actively campaign toward changing South Carolina law regarding memorials and flags on the Statehouse grounds. These very same type memorials and flags that are seen on an individual basis in Methodist and other church cemeteries throughout South Carolina and are also similar to the memorials found in practically every county in South Carolina.

“It seems incongruous that this small group of liberal-minded activists would find any pleasure in placing a cloud of hatred over the overwhelming loyal parishioners who seek no more than the peace and love of Christian fellowship. It is understandable why United Methodists are disenchanted and feel the church of their fathers has deserted them. Many communicate to us their disdain for the recent changes in direction perpetrated by a few who seem more interested in substituting the holy gospel in favor of their own Utopian visions toward social change."

***********************************
By the way, the Commander in Chief of the SCV, himself, resides in Columbia, South Carolina. And, in the spirit of full disclosure, I am a dues paying member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, myself.

Seems to me, what we have here is a church, which has stepped beyond preaching... and is now meddling! The Leftists have taken over the mainline religious denominations in America, including my own denomination. And THAT is why I have completely disassociated myself from my church and will have nothing to do with it... forevermore!

Does not the phrase: “Separation of Church and State” sort of haunt the proceedings where this resolution was passed? I guess not. I am beginning to understand that, at least as some denominations apparently believe, it only goes one way. It’s the old double standard at work again.

Look, I have Confederate Ancestors buried in Methodist church cemeteries in South Carolina. If you do not think I am insulted buy the actions of the SC Methodist, you are sadly mistaken.

Frankly, I’d like to see the SCV, in South Carolina, begin to have a rash of Grave Marker Dedications at the gravesites of Confederate Veterans in every Methodist church cemetery in the entire state of South Carolina.

What they have done is beyond shameful. It does a disservice to the thousands of Methodists in South Carolina who have Confederate Ancestors buried in those cemeteries. The SC Methodist owe a humongous apology to their membership, in South Carolina, for the shame and disgrace they have brought upon their families and upon the Great and Sovereign State of South Carolina!

It IS His Land!

It IS His Land!

******************

I’m probably gonna tick some of the readers of this site off with what I’m about to say, but here goes, anyway: The land that Flight 93 fell to earth upon… BELONGS to the LANDOWNER! Yep! Simple as that! It’s his to do with what he will… or as the case may be, what he will not!

All I know about the fracas surrounding the attempt to acquire that piece of land is what I have read in the papers and seen, and heard, on TV. Admittedly, it was not much. But the fact remains, IT IS HIS LAND!

A man’s right to his property, and to do with that property what he will, was established as far back as the Magna Carta when King John of England was “forced to acquiesce” to his fellow Englishmen’s rights to hold property. Later those exact same rights were brought to America and incorporated into our US Constitution. There they remain… even today. As a matter of fact, our Constitution’s Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments: that government must not deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law are derived directly form the Magna Carta. With the addition of the Bill of Rights, to our US Constitution, specific protections for property rights were added, including the due process and takings clauses of the Fifth Amendment as well as five other clauses, indicating that the protection of property rights was a major concern in the crafting of the Bill of Rights.

There is an excellent article posted at:
http://prfamerica.org/SieganSynopsis.html by the Property Rights Foundation of America, Inc. The Article is by: by Professor Bernard H. Siegan. We recommend it.

For a very long time in this country, one could not vote if one did not own land. There are times, these days, when I feel there was a certain carelessness when this was changed. There are American citizens voting today who have no clue what, or for whom, they are voting. An owner of land, of property, has proven, already, that he has some responsibility about himself; else wise he would not be the holder of that piece of real estate.

There is one fact that remains constant: the landowner OWNS that piece of land! He can set any price he wants for the land, or, no price at all. If the would-be buyers want it… they can pay his price.

Unfortunately, experience has taught us that standing against an emotional wave is nigh unto impossible. So, I expect, in the end, the landowner will either have to sell the land, or suffer the weight of public rage, fueled by emotion, until he buckles.

It has been just a short time ago that the American public was all up in arms over the Supreme Court’s ruling for the right of Public Domain… for a city’s right to condemn a piece of property just so they could claim it, develop it, and increase that town’s tax base. I, too, think that is a horrible way to treat property and land owners in America. It very close, indeed, to what King John, of England, was doing when the landowners revolted and the Magna Carta was forced upon the King.

Then, there is the argument of what is MORAL in this matter. I won’t go there… except to ask, whose morality will be the standard used to judge the eventual outcome of this matter.

Seems to me, the landowner is well within his rights to ask whatever price the market will bear for his land.
