No Constitutional Rights for Terrorists

The Gitmo detainees do not have rights under the U.S. Constitution. No matter the ruling by the “left-leaning” Carter-appointed judge a few days ago.

Those terrorists are not citizens of the US. Now, those of you equating the Declaration of Independence, and it’s “equality” clause with the Constitution, must come to an understanding that the Declaration of Independence is not a part of the U.S. Constitution, which is the basis for all US law.

Now, understand this: The Constitution was written by, and for, US citizens ONLY! No non-citizen is covered by the Constitution… none! Therefore, the court ruling was completely wrong.

While I’m at it, let me stress…the Constitution does not grant rights even to citizens of the US. The Constitution’s sole purpose is to limit the power of the Federal Government. The Bill of Rights is/are ten set-asides to guarantee certain areas of law the federal Government is forbidden to go!

The court’s ruling did not come as a surprise. This is the kind of muddled thinking we get when “leftist” academics teach that the U.S. Constitution is a “living, breathing” document. It is not! The founders said what they meant and, meant what they said, when they wrote the Constitution.

Look, the U.S. will not even support a "world court" because it would subjugate the U.S. Constitution to some code of laws which may favor the rights of citizens of other countries over the Constitutional rights of U.S. Citizens. We can’t have that.

This judge's ruling may make it all the way to the Supreme Court, but at some point, this judge’s ruling will be overturned… as it should be.

Your Obedient Servant,

“Longstreet”
