No Peace in the Middle East

I wouldn’t get too comfortable with the newly agreed upon “Cease Fire” between the Israelis and the Palestinians. It won’t last. It never does. Give it a week, maybe two. I’m not being pessimistic. I’m being realistic.

Already at least one Palestinian faction says it will not abide by it. We are not surprised. Fighting, dying, killing, out right murder, it’s all a way of life in that neighborhood. The homicide bombers will be back shortly. It just takes a bit longer now since Saddam isn’t around to pay off families to send their children, with bombs strapped on them, out into the streets to kill themselves and everyone around them. But, where there is a will… there is a way… and they will find it.

It’s sad, really. That part of the world, used to be, the cross roads of the civilized world. Now, it has become a boil on the buttocks of the world. What a shame.

There is no feud like a family feud. We had ours back in the 1860’s. We still carry the scars. Some of us carry the scars as badges of honor. They have never really healed. The same will happen in the Holy Land. The difference is, we continue to work at healing our land. I’m not sure that will happen in that area.

So, while the press fawns over the prospect of Peace in the Middle East, the Palestinians are taking the opportunity to “Re-Load”. The Israeli’s will be preparing for another assault.

The news folks should keep the cameras rolling. There’ll be plenty of footage of mangled bodies for the 24-hour news channels and the 6:30 news. It ain’t over ‘til the fat lady sings and she hasn’t even left the dressing room yet!

Your Obedient Servant,

“Longstreet”
