Withdraw the Miers Nomination!

(Since this writing, I have e-mailed both the Senators, from North Carolina, and asked both to request that President Bush withdraw the nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. Failing that, I asked both Senators to vote against her confirmation when the full Senate votes.)

The selection of Harriet Miers, as the nominee for the Supreme Court, is seen as a “back handed” slap at the Republican base.

Conservatives are furious and are vowing to fight her nomination in the Judiciary Committee.

I have taken a look at her bio and I can find nothing to recommend her as a conservative. Another negative… she has zero experience as a judge… of any kind.

The President’s choice is in trouble already. His base, the conservative Republicans, feel they have been "sold out" for expediency and do not like it. I shudder to think what the President’s poll numbers will look like next week!

Little is known of Ms. Miers... as of this moment. Frankly, I’m tired of being asked to take the President’s choices, for these positions on the Court, on trust. This is asking too much. Entirely too much. I am not into "blind trust"!

We conservatives were looking forward to the brawl with the Democrats over a Conservative nominee. The rug has been pulled out from under us and we are not happy!

We, here at INSIGHT on Freedom ask the President to withdraw the nomination of Ms. Miers... immediately. The longer this plays out the more damage will be done to the Republican Party. We don't need this. We don't deserve this!

Rest assured the Right will be working, tirelessly, to have this nomination go down in flames.

Again, we urge the President to withdraw this nomination and get on to the selection of a second, known conservative, to the Court.

First Monday finds a New Chief Justice

Well, John Roberts was confirmed and… that leaves us two more to go to solidify the conservative hold on the Supreme Court.

The next nominee is in for a serious storm of Liberal attacks from every direction of the compass.

The word on the net is the President will not make known his choice for the open seat until at least Monday. The reason, I suspect, is to avoid the anal examinations by the press, over the weekend, including the network “talking head” shows on Sunday. That shows savvy, about the press, anyway.

The problem we Conservatives have is fighting the Democrat Party and the Press simultaneously. We go into battle, every time, outnumbered. But, as the Green Berets say, when you find yourself surrounded, it presents an opportunity for you to attack in any direction.

I have been looking literarily, at lists of names the President is said to be considering for the open seat on the Court. All on the list(s) are conservative save for the possibility of the Attorney General Gonzales. He is flat out unacceptable by the conservative wing of the Republican Party. So, if the President really wants a shot at getting his nominee thru the Senate Judicial Committee, he will not choose Gonzales. If he does, anyway, the Republicans on the committee, will join with the Democrats and he will never get approval from the committee, and we’ll have to start over.

The Supreme Court convenes the first Monday in October. That is upon us. Roberts will make his debut as a shiny new Supreme Court Justice and… the first among equals, the Chief Justice.

The only question I have is… will he keep the three golden hash marks Rehnquist had placed on the his Chief Justice robe? I kind of like ‘em. I hope he keeps them.

More Loss of Freedom for the US

A few days ago, I posted a blog in which I basically said keep an eye on the Posse Comitatus Act. I said I believed the government was about to try to change that Act and they shouldn’t. I gave a number of reasons why the Act should be left as it is, not the least of which was/is to forbid the military from enforcing the law within the borders of the US.

The Posse Comitatus Act was enacted in 1878 during the latter days of Reconstruction here in the South. The US Military was running rough shod over the South and, for all practical intents and purposes, the South was a military dictatorship. The Posse Comitatus Act changed all that.

After the complete collapse of Louisiana’s emergency preparedness plans in the face of a hurricane and their total lack of any ability to help themselves, as self sufficient human beings should, much talk has been circulating in the nations capitol about changing the Act to allow the US Military to become the first responders in the case of natural disasters and national emergencies.

As the US Coast Guard was the only service not covered by the Posse Comitatus Act it was the first US military service on the scene in New Orleans plucking people off roofs and such.

Those of us who live in a part of the US, which was invaded, conquered, and occupied by US military forces are, and have a right to be, very leery of any changes to the Posse Comitatus Act. We fear the “Camel’s Noise Under the Tent” scenario! In other words, give the government an inch, and they will take a mile.

You can wager that once any bills to change that law get into committee(s) one of the first things discussed will be how to gain legal control over the populace of the affected area and how US troops can be used to enforce laws in that area. It’s as sure as night follows day.

If you have not read the Posse Comitatus Act, it’s here, on this site, in some of my recent blog postings. Look for it. You'll find it. Do yourself a favor and read it. Then, we urge you to e-mail your Congressperson, and Senator, and demand that the Posse Comitatus Act be left as it is with no changes.

This is serious stuff here, folks. If we are willing to exchange freedom for security, then, we deserve neither and soon we will have neither.

This needs your immediate attention. Your freedom is at risk. Or, like many Americans today, you just don’t care?

No Apology for Bill Bennett

(Please note a slight change in the name of this Blog. Henceforth it shall be known as "INSIGHT on Freedom")

If you have come to this site looking for a moist-eyed, hand-wringing apology for remarks made by Bill Bennett, a few days ago, then… you’re on the wrong site.

I have heard the tape of his remarks, within the context in which they were delivered, and I have read the transcripts of his broadcast and I can only say, he is being “sandbagged” by the MSM and the Left.

When what he said is read in its full context is read, it takes on the truth of the statement. The MSM and the Left, (which happens to be one and the same) are “cherry picking” to lift out a phrase they can use to condemn Mr. Bennett.

Well, they did that and then they ran out the usual suspects for the left wing Loonies to condemn and vilify Mr. Bennett.

Has anyone stopped to consider that what was said may be the truth? It is a fact that when abortions are up crime is down. That’s a documented fact.

Now, allow me to be clear here: I believe abortion is wrong… except to save the life of the mother and… in cases of rape and incest. What you believe is your business and I, frankly, don’t care.

Now here’s the problem we face. Truth cannot be spoken in this country anymore. The Political Correctness Police will bury a speaker of the truth if he dares open his mouth. As a result, the key to our freedom is being taken away. Truth. “Ye shall Know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free”. And without truth, we have no chance of being free. And that, Dear Reader, is where the left is taking us today.

Mr. Bennett is only the latest of the “Truth Sayers” to be pilloried.

The Truth is the one weapon we have against the Left that they know is lethal. And they cannot stand it. They cannot allow Truth to continue to be spoken publicly.

Hillary Returns to Left as Party Transitions

Hillary is moving back to the Left.

Triangulation is out the window for Hillary.. The “Left Wing Nuts”, now the mainstream of the Democrat party, have put an end to Hillary’s faux move to the right. Democrats normally do that, you see. They understand they cannot get elected, nationally, if they run as Liberals so they run as moderates, and conservatives, then, if elected, assume their rightful persona, that of a Liberal. (Oh they much prefer to be addressed as “Progressives”. Even they avoid the term “Liberal”.) That was what Hillary was doing… right up until the little light bulb went off over her head.

The Left Wing Loonies are now running the Democrat Party. They are demanding that their candidates come clean and be whom they really are… Left Wing Liberals. For far too long, according to them, Democrats have not been honest with America, because, as I said above, if they are honest with the American Electorate, they cannot get elected.

So, now that Hillary has had her epiphany, she is swinging back, slowly, I’ll grant you, but nevertheless, she is swinging back to the Left. This explains her vote “NO” on Judge Roberts’s nomination for Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Plus, rumors are rampant that Hillary’s supposed lock on the Democrat nomination is not as solid as it has been thought to be. The one name continuing to pop up… and… with increasing regularity is… Al Gore. Yep, word is spreading that AL GORE again, is going to toss his much-battered political hat into the ring and run for the Presidency in 2008.

Do not put him down! The Loony Left adores him! And, after Governor Blanco’s performance in Louisiana before, during, and after Hurricane Katrina, American’s belief that a woman is just as capable as a man to handle adversity and think through it, and make the hard decisions, has been deeply shaken. Even those feminists, on the Left, have had an awakening and are now looking for a man for their candidate for President in 2008. When General Honoree's boots hit the mud in New Orleans, it was a testosterone moment! Good ole Testosterone gets things done... NOW! That's bad news for Hillary! Even TV's pathetic attempt at making America feel at ease with a woman as President with their really BAD show "Commander-in-Chief" will not help. America can feel at ease with a woman President, but not THIS one!

As of today, Hillary is out… ALGORE is in! (Subject to change, of course!)

Keep an eye on events as they unfold in the weeks and months to follow. The Democrat Party is in the midst of a monumental transition. They are flirting with the truth… the truth about who they really are. For some it will be painful. For others it will be an experience akin to “coming out”. For many it will prove hurtful and embarrassing… and they will leave the party. Their personal morality will not allow them to remain associated, in any way, with the crowd, which will surface in the next few months.

The painful truth about who the “American Left” really is… will become obvious in coming months. It won’t be pretty.

Conservatives, rejoice for we will soon control all three branches of the Federal Government as the "Loonie Left" is doing much of the work for us! We, on the right, couldn't be more appreciative!
