Conservative Patience is Running Out with Fred Thompson.

Conservative Patience is Running Out with Fred Thompson.
When Fred Thompson named Spencer Abraham as his campaign manager last week, I, along with a LOT of conservatives, was taken aback. Mr. Abraham is known for leaning toward an Open Borders policy for the US. In my estimation, that is a death warrant for the United States.

I have been digging around on the Internet looking for something, anything, from the Thompson Campaign to explain Thompson’s reasoning in hiring Abraham. I found SOME… but not enough… information to offset my unease at Abraham’s hiring.

My friend, Texas Fred, has an excellent article on just this problem. If, you, like me, are concerned over the hiring of Mr. Abraham, and the glaring lack of “positions” coming from the Thompson Campaign, then I recommend you read Texas Fred’s essay here:

Fred has given voice to many of the concerns the conservative spectrum has as a result of Thompson’s less that “fireball” approach to campaigning.

I understand that Thompson has not ACTUALLY become a candidate yet. But that is a matter of publicly announcing and signing a few papers. In the meantime, if Mr. Thompson isn’t very careful, the train will have left the station without him… and… without his conservative backers. The time “to fish, or cut bait” is fast approaching.

Many of the conservatives cannot bring themselves to vote for any of the announced candidates as of this writing. I count myself among them. There is not a true conservative among them. The GOP might as well save its time, energy, and money, and just sit this election out. The Clintons are destined to return, triumphant, to the White House… along with all the problems THAT entails for Americans who embarrass easily.

“Bubba” and the “Ice Queen”. What a pair! At the moment, they have no opposition from the GOP, or the Conservatives. (The separation of GOP and Conservatives was intentional!)

Thompson gave us hope. But, I have to tell you, in all honesty, that hope is dimming quickly. And so is Mr. Thompson’s shot at the White House!

Conservatives and the War

Conservatives and the War
Have you heard the talking heads on TV declaring how all the polls show that Conservatives are also upset with the President over the war in Iraq? If you listen to the news on Radio or TV you can’t have missed it.

Now, for those of you un-initiated into the way the media works, especially the Mainstream Media, let me see if I can decipher that statement for you.

OK… first of all Conservatives, at least most of us, are upset with the President over the war in Iraq. But not for the same reason as the democrats or liberals. Nosiree! We’re upset with the President over the way the war is, and has been, prosecuted from day one.

Look, if there is any known factor in winning a war it is the use of overwhelming force from the outset. If you want to win a war, you never play fair! Playing fair will get you exactly what we have in Iraq today. Overwhelming force will gain you the victory.

Right away, when I am asked to define “victory”, I understand that the US is in deep trouble in any war we undertake, now, and in the future. When one considers the way out military is being used, and misused, by the politicians in Washington, DC, and that includes the politicians, in uniform, over at the Pentagon, it is abundantly clear that the US military will never be allowed to gain all out victory, ever again.

What we have instead is a future of military conflicts, which cost the precious lives of US service men and women all to further some political party’s agenda.

Now, I ask you… how is that supposed to inspire young American men and women to enlist in the military services of the US? It won’t. And, frankly, I don’t blame them. Nobody wants to knowingly be a part of a losing team.

The constitution is clear on who the Commander-in-chief of the US Military is. And believe me, it is not the Congress. The Congress can declare war, when they can screw up the courage. And they can fund, and defund, the war effort... but they do not have the constitutional authority to command the military to do one thing. NOTHING!

It is also abundantly clear that the crowd of Old Hippies and Flower Children populating our Congress today could not fight their way out of a wet paper bag! They’re a pathetic lot, “made free and kept free by better men and women than themselves”. Their conduct toward the “War Effort” and our Military has been, and continues to be, shameful. Their conduct is inexcusable. It will not be forgotten. I assure you of that.

Veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts will remember the enemy to their rear, they had to fight, as well as the enemy to their front they were forced to fight with one hand tied behind them. Many years of bitter contempt are in the future for the US government all because of their cowardly behavior toward the enemy and the US Military. And this Congress has earned every bit of the contempt the US Veterans can heap upon them. We have a Senate and a House of Representatives, which are embarrassments to the people of America. If you doubt that… look at the polls. Only 14% of Americans approve of the way Congress is doing business. That's 14%!!! Is that pathetic, or what?

Congress Prepares to Dishonor it's Military, Itself, and the United States of America!

(This article first ran in February 2007.)

An Honorable Nation Doesn’t Do This!
Those of us who served in the United States Military, in any capacity, during the Vietnam War, swore we would not stand by and see this nation do to it’s Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines, ever again, what it did to them by Washington’s micro managing a war, thousands of miles away, causing needless deaths of American troops, and finally by Washington’s cowardly, dishonorable, act of forcing a US retreat from that theatre of war. US forces won every battle; yet, the civilian government here, at home, forced them to abandon the field to the enemy. 54,000, plus, Americans died needlessly. Hundreds of thousands of Southeast Asians died in the war and in the months and years after the US tucked its tail between it’s legs and crawled under the porch.

The US Military went into a deep depression after that debacle, which lasted until the First Gulf War. The Armed Forces were politicized. For one brief, shining moment, in the ‘90’s they threw off that blue funk and cleaned Saddam’s clock. The American Left, aided and abetted by the Left Wing Media, could not allow America to have a strong military for long, however, and the campaign to destroy the US military began, in earnest, once again. And they have nearly succeeded in gutting the military might of this country.

Today, we stand at the brink of committing, quite probably, the most cowardly thing this country has ever done, at least, since Vietnam. The Left has managed to castrate America. We are about to demonstrate for all the world that America’s word is worth nothing, that America cannot be counted on when the going gets rough, and that America is, indeed, a paper tiger. Do not deceive yourselves, our enemies are watching and they are taking notes. They now know that what they suspected is true! Make America bleed and she will run!

There is no solid Conservative leadership in our Congress or the White House. In fact, there is virtually NO leadership, of ANY kind, in Washington. And, to make matters worse, there is no STRONG LEADER among those offering themselves as candidates for President… from either party.

So, where are the leaders America needs? Oh, they’re here. Only… they will not offer themselves for public office simply because they do not wish to be tainted by the foulness of our political system and they do not wish to associate with those persons of low reputation we have in political office in the nation’s legislature. Add to that the fact that they do not want their lives, nor the lives of their families, destroyed by the Mainstream Media’s sneering criticism and cynicism, and mud slinging. Politics, which used to be an honorable profession, has been dragged down to its lowest common denominator by the current crop of serving politicians. As a result, honorable men and women will have nothing to do with politics, especially national politics.

The two main political parties in the US have melded together and now… there is virtually no difference between them. Conservatives are leaving the GOP in droves. The Republican Party took our votes and sold us out. What we have in Washington now is a hodge-podge of Leftist, Socialists, Marxists, Centrists, and so-called Moderates. The Congress is a pathetic, testosterone challenged, mess! It is so bad… it is dangerous to America.

Which brings me right back to where I began this article.

Look, I’m from the Old School. I still believe that HONOR means something. I believe that honor, above all else, is important for a man or woman to have and to cherish. It is a “Good Name”. It is a “Good Reputation”. It requires that one always attempt to do the right thing, at the right time, and for the right reason. Unfortunately, these days, one has to define honor for the Baby Boomer Generation. Somewhere, along the way, they apparently decided it wasn’t worth the effort it takes to maintain one’s honor.

Now look at the “leaders” in Congress. They stroke each other by referring to each other as “the honorable gentleman” or “the honorable gentlewoman”, etc. Pin them down and they can’t even define it!

And THAT, dear reader, is what has led us to this moment in the illustrious history of this “once-great nation”. Simply put: Honor is everything. Without honor… you have nothing. And, that is what we have in the US government.

Honorable men, and women, would not insist upon shaming the worlds’ most elite military. Honorable men, and women, would not insist upon shaming this country. Honorable men and women simply would not do that. Yet, that is what they proudly pronounce to the world they intend to do!

And I do not see it getting any better in the future.

So… what now? We can’t see the future. We can, however, draw some conclusions about where this country is going to wind up. It is fair to say, I believe, that we are no longer a “super power”. We do not deserve to have the title. We will not accept the responsibility that goes with it. We are no longer a world leader. We have decided to cede leadership to spineless “has been” countries and to spineless, gutless, socialist organizations such as the United Nations. A super power does not ask permission of other countries, or any single organization to protect itself. But, somehow, today, those people who hold the positions of power in this country have decided they do not want the responsibility and they have allowed it to pass to those far less able than the US.

We are quickly becoming a second rate power, politically and militarily. We are definitely a nation in decline. We are a leaderless nation. We are stumbling around like a blind giant doing more harm to ourselves than to our enemies. China will soon overtake us as the leading super power in the world.

What a shame, what a waste, and what a disappointment we must be to Providence.

What IS a Veteran?

(This Article first ran in October of 2005.)

What is a Veteran?
Allow me to state, right up front, that I did not compose this. I received it as a “forwarded” e-mail. As I read it, I realized the truth it contains is simply profound. I pass it on to you now. If you have ever served America in the uniform of her Armed Services… THANK YOU!… Longstreet

Father Denis Edward O’Brien, USMC

"Some Veterans bear visible signs of their service: a missing limb, a jagged scar, a certain look in the eye. Others may carry the evidence inside them: a pin holding a bone together, a price of shrapnel in the leg. Or perhaps another sort of inner steel: the soul’s ally forged in the refinery of adversity.

Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badges or emblems.

You can’t tell a Vet just by looking.

He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn’t run out of fuel.

He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by his four hours of exquisite bravery near the 38th parallel.

She – or he – is the nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang.

He is the POW who went away one person and came back another – or didn’t come back at all.

He is the Quantico Drill Instructor who has never seen combat, but has saved countless lives by turning slouchy, no-account rednecks and Gang Members into Marines, and teaching them to watch each other’s backs.

He is the parade-riding Legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand.

She is the career Quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass her by.

He is the anonymous heroes in The Tomb of the Unknowns, whose presence at
Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the anonymous heroes whose valor dies unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the ocean’s sunless deep.

He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket, palsied by now and aggravatingly slow, who helped liberate a Nazi death camp and who wishes all day long that his wife were still alive to hold when the nightmares come.

She is an ordinary and yet and extraordinary human being – a person who offered some of her life’s most vital years in the service of this country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs.

He is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and his nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known.

So remember, each time you see someone who has Served our country, just lean over and say “Thank You.” That’s all most people need, and in most cases it will mean more than any medals they could have been awarded or were awarded.

Two little words that mean a lot, “THANK YOU”.

“It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us Freedom of the Press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us Freedom of Speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the Freedom to Demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the Flag, who serves beneath the Flag, and whose coffin is draped by the Flag, who allows protesters to burn the flag"

Is Fred Thompson's Campaign Over Before It Begins???

Fred’s Got Some ‘Splainin To Do!!!
As a conservative, I have been pushing Fred Thompson to officially get into the race for President. Up to now, he has been doing well. Conservatives were flocking to his banner. Now, however, things have changed!

The problem for conservatives is Spencer Abraham. Named recently by the Thompson Campaign as the Campaign Manager, Mr. Abraham has a record of advocating, more or less, “Open Borders “ with our neighbors to the South.

Illegal Immigration... and stopping it... is the keystone of the Conservative Movement at the moment. For Mr. Thompson to bring on-board a known advocate of open borders is nothing less than suicide for his campaign.

We need to hear from Mr. Thompson about his reasoning and we need to hear from Mr. Thompson his stand on illegal immigration and securing the borders of this country. Without an acceptable explanation for BOTH, Mr. Thompson’s campaign is OVER before it is begun!

Dear reader of INSIGHT on Freedom:

Since the BIG National Polling Companies seem uninterested in asking the REAL question of the American people, we decided we would ask it here in the form of a poll. If you will look at the right-hand sidebar, at the top, you will see the poll. We invited you to take part and answer the question. Here’s your chance to let your feelings about winning, or losing, the war in Iraq be known!

As always……..

Best regards,

Democrats, Ineffective in the House and Senate, will be Ineffective in the White House, too!

Democrats, Ineffective in the House and Senate, will be Ineffective in the White House, too!
If there is anything more disgusting that a whinny democrat… it is a whinny republican. However, at the moment the whining is all coming from the democrat side of the aisle. I mean, you’d think they lost the election in 2006, wouldn’t you?

Now, I’m going to let you in on a secret the “Right” knows… and we can’t believe the Left can’t see it! It is the key to the Left’s problems in the US House and the US Senate. I don’t mind giving away this secret, which is open, anyway, because I know the left won’t pay attention to me. So here goes:

The problem, which has the democrats tied up in knots both in the US House and the US Senate, is their LEADERSHIP… in BOTH houses of the Congress! It is woefully inadequate.

The politically correct Speaker of the House, Nanny Pelosi, is not strong enough, as a leader, to intimidate the democrats and certainly not the republicans. They simply are not afraid of her. Think what you will, but fear is a great motivator. Without it… it is impossible to get a room full of nearly 400 Alpha males to do what you want them to do. Of course, there are always the sniveling suck-ups who will do anything the Speaker asks, but for the most part, the men and women in the US House are Type “A” personalities and they have to be herded by a strong hand. Pelosi doesn’t have the strong hand needed. So they are bogged down in the House.

In the Senate, there is much the same problem.

Look, one of the first things a young broadcaster USED to learn was how to speak from the diaphragm. It gives one a deep, resonant, voice and an authoritative voice, and, as I was instructed so many times in school, it matters not what you say… so much as it matters HOW you say it. My instructors taught me to always SOUND as if I knew what I was talking about… whether I did or not! It inspired confidence in listeners. The instructors were right.

You’re probably already two or three steps ahead of me here; so, you know where I’m going with this in the Senate.

If you have not already done so, tune in C-Span 2, on TV, and watch the Majority Leader, Harry Reid, speak to the Senate. Is that pitiful… or what? That tiny little voice may inspire left wing liberals… but it sure as hell, doesn’t inspire anything, including fear, in right wing conservatives… of which there are woefully few in the Senate these days.

One other thing, a high-pitched voice in a male can be counter balanced… by strong character. An example? General George Patton. The man could inspire fear in… and motivate… Satan himself!

Now… I have one question for all you readers. If the pathetic leadership in the US House and Senate has led to a bogged down Congress… how do you expect the same kind of leadership in the White House will affect the rest of the world? Much the same way, I predict.

Mrs. Bill Clinton is no Margaret Thatcher! “Maggie” Thatcher was the “Iron Lady”. Mrs. Clinton is the “Ice Queen”. And puleeeze… do not compare Mrs. Bill Clinton with Golda Meir (Mabovitz was her Russian/Ukrainian name, Myerson was her American “married” name. She married Morris Myerson in 1917 and migrated to Israel in 1921.) of Israel! Ms. Meir was born a Ukrainian. She migrated to the US in 1906 and lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until she and her husband migrated to Israel. Meir was the original “Iron Lady”. But I hold to the title of the Ice Queen for Mrs. Clinton.

The thrust of this article is to point out the obvious… that if Americans place the democrats in charge of the office of the President, and the National Legislature, then their ineffectiveness… the ineffectiveness we see in the Congress everyday, will be spread to the globe. Domestic policy and foreign affairs will be in the same mess as the Congress finds itself in under their guidance today.

Not a pretty picture is it? No, it is not.

Remember how ineffective Jimmy Carter was on foreign policy as well as domestic policy? Get ready for an even worse set of circumstances.

As of this writing, there is only one candidate who has the “maleness” to lead America from the Oval Office. I refer, of course, to Fred Thompson. Fred knows how to put the “fear of God” in others with his commanding voice, and demeanor, and his “room-filling” presence. His aura of a “Southern Knight” has a wondrous effect on the ladies. His velvet persona cannot hide the glint of steel in his character, though. That is attractive to men seeking a leader.

Yes, it is a long way to Election Day… but the moment of decision is upon us, as voters, to choose the leader we want, in the upcoming fight for the Oval Office, and get behind that person to insure his nomination.

As of this writing, I am convinced that the choices we will have in November of ’08 will be Fred Thompson and Mrs. Bill Clinton. I cannot see it coming down any other way. All the other candidates are “also rans”.

If Conservatives wish to maintain control of the nomination process to the Supreme Court, we will remember this when we go vote in ‘08. If we lose the Presidency, all the work we have done on a conservative court will have been for naught. That alone is the most important reason for supporting and voting for a conservative candidate for President.

A Sunny View of Oblivion ... by Alan Caruba

A Sunny View of Oblivion By Alan Caruba
Despite a plethora of television programs and books on the topic, predicting the End of the World has become boring.

For example, on June 10th you had a choice between watching the 61st Annual Tony Awards or “Last Days on Earth” on the History Channel. “Scientists explain seven of the deadliest threats to humanity” was the topic and later that evening you could check out “Mega Disasters” with its story of the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. Indeed, hardly a week goes by without some television program devoted to the planet’s extinction.

Many ancient cultures developed a highly sophisticated understanding of astronomy. An obsession of the Mayans, the more they learned, the more they understood the relationship of the Earth, the Sun, and the observable solar system. In a curious coincidence, China’s ancient “I Ching” is a book that, like the Mayans, predicts 2012 as the end of the world.

Ever since Galileo invented the telescope in 1610, the notion that the Sun is at the center of our solar system has come to be an accepted fact, but oddly the Sun does not receive credit for the Earth’s climate. More than any other factor, however, the Sun influences and determines known climate cycles such as ice ages.

Deliberately confusing people still further is all the blather about an Earth-threatening “global warming” caused by scary “greenhouse gases.” This silliness is used to justify the need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, i.e., limiting the use of any and all energy sources. I guess we’re really lucky that two billion people still don’t even have access to electricity. Of course, they may not be thrilled by it.

Aside from the fact that 95% of greenhouse gas is water vapor, scientists with no agenda other than, well, science, are far more concerned about what the Sun has been doing of late and what it is likely to be doing within five years. If they’re right, humanity is in big trouble.

Lawrence E. Joseph has authored “Apocalypse 2021: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization’s End” ($23.95, Morgan Road Books) and, aside from scaring the reader with some interesting science, history, and conjecture, the book performs the useful service of getting one to focus on the Sun, a huge, gelatinous mass of roiling gases that, depending on what it is doing, either heats or cools the Earth.

What it is doing lately is behaving oddly.

We’re all familiar with Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the four 2004 hurricanes that hit Florida in rapid succession. Then following all that hurricane activity, none made landfall in 2006. The connection is the way sunspot activity correlates with climatic conditions on Earth. Lawrence notes that, “By every scientific measure, 2005 was supposed to have seen very few sunspots”, explaining that, “Sunspots are larger-than-Earth magnetic storms that blemish the solar surface.”

In fact, on Halloween 2003 sunspot activity generated the largest radiation storm ever recorded. Happily, most of it missed the Earth, but the real mystery is why it occurred at or near the solar minimum, the point in the eleven-year cycle when there is supposed to be little solar sunspot activity. Scientists have long known that sunspots occur in cycles of nine to thirteen years, most often lasting about eleven years. The next cycle will begin in 2012.

Sami Solanki of the famed Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Germany believes, “Except possibly for a few brief peaks, the Sun is more active currently than at any time in the past 11,000 years.” So, yes, the Earth may be warming slightly, but it has nothing to do with human activity.

Moreover, 11,000 years ago coincides approximately with the end of the last Ice Age. Depending on whom you believe, we are either due a new Ice Age or the Sun is about to roast the Earth like a marshmallow.

Lawrence bases his prediction of nasty things on the theory of an interstellar energy cloud. Such a cloud would destabilize the Sun. To his credit, Lawrence does not believe the end of the Earth will occur in 2012, but he does believe we are entering a period of “unprecedented turmoil and upheaval” as the result of the Sun’s odd behavior. A lot of science appears to support his view.

By the time you get to the end of his book, he recommends you grab hold of any mythology or theology that works for you because he admits he hasn’t a clue if or when doomsday will occur.

People have been predicting the End of the Earth or the End Times for a very long time, dating back to the Mayan civilization that, you may have noticed, isn’t around any more. The Bible has similar predictions and Islam, too, subscribes to its own version.

Given the science-based scenarios and the fact that the Earth has gone through some fairly astonishing changes over the last five billion years or so, it is likely that some very unpleasant events will occur sometime.

Fear not, the cockroaches will survive.

Time for Thompson to Announce!

Fred Thompson Has GOP Nomination Wrapped UP! All He Has To Do Is Announce!!!
As a conservative I have been holding my fire on the current slate of GOP Candidates… save for McCain. I have said, since sometime last year, that McCain could not win, and I didn’t think he would even get the nomination as the GOP’S candidate. Well, you see where Mr. McCain is today... on the sidelines.

Now, I don’t consider myself a pundit, or a prophet. I’m just a little ole country boy, down here in the alligator invested swamps of North Carolina. But, The Creator gave me a fairly active brain and a dose of common sense, which as we all know… is not that common. I didn’t have to read sheep entrails, tea leaves, or Tarot cards to see, many months ago, that McCain could not last the entire race. It was a simple exercise in common sense. McCain is NOT A Conservative. That is all one needed to know. The same can be said of Giuliani and Romney. Neither of them will get the nomination either, unless there is an act of God.

The nomination will belong to Fred Thompson. Actually, it already does. All Fred has to do is announce. And I must tell you... patience is wearing thin here in the conservative ranks. We have all this bottled up enthusiasm, which we have not been able to use for a candidate and we are ready to make that huge push for our candidate to assure him the nomination. But we can’t do it ‘til Fred announces!!!

In the meantime, there is some fear among conservatives that Thompson has waited too long and the Democrats are sucking all the money from the political sphere. Conservative money is still in our pockets. It will go to the coffers of the Thompson campaign.

We were looking for an announcement in July. It didn’t come. Now we are told it will be September. Will we be told something else in September???

Look, we already know Mrs. Bill Clinton will be the Democrat candidate. Most likely her vice-presidential running mate will be Obama. No… not Edwards... not if she wants southern democrat votes. Edwards is an embarrassment to southern males and, frankly, most southern females! Mrs. Clinton’s people are smart enough to know that. So the ticket will be Clinton and Obama. That is whom we have to go after as conservatives.

Go after them, we will. But it would sure be a “huge” help if we had our own announced candidate, out there, doing battle with the democrats right now.

So, until our candidate IS announced, and out there in the arena, we will keep our powder dry and ready ourselves for battle… ready to ride to the sound of the guns.

NC Jails Filled with Illegal Aliens and NC Law Officers Still Packing them IN!

North Carolina Jails Filled with Illegal Immigrants and NC Law Officers Still Packing Them In!
Here in North Carolina we KNOW we have a half million illegal Immigrants. How many more than that we don’t know about …yet. But Law Enforcement officials are hard at work rounding them up in this state. The thing the federal government says can’t be done… you know… round up all the illegal immigrants in the US… well, somebody forgot to tell the Tar Heels ’cause they are doing it!

In the hoppers of the NC Senate and the NC House of Representatives some twenty bills dealing with illegal immigration, and what to do about it in this state, await debate and passage into law. Some of the bills have to do with strict sanctions on companies which employ illegal aliens, and of course we Tar Hells are pushing an English Only state law, plus, making it illegal for illegal aliens to claim in-state tuition at our colleges and universities, and giving state, and county, law enforcement officers more leeway in enforcing laws pertaining to illegal aliens. And that just scratches the surface.

To say Tar Heels have had it with the Federal Government’s reluctance to do it’s constitutional duty and seal the border between Mexico, and the US and get a handle on the illegal immigration problem in the US, is to severely understate the frame of mind of the average North Carolinian toward illegal aliens.

Have any idea what the number one killer of Hispanic males is in North Carolina? Drunken Driving!!! Tar Heels are afraid to get in their cars to drive anywhere for fear of being run down and killed by a drunk Hispanic driver!

The "Carolina Journal" has an excellent article on the Illegal immigration problem in NC and what the state is doing about it. We recommend it to you. To read it, go here:

North Carolinians have begun what I warned the US Government about many months ago. Back then, I said that if the US Government did not do its job towards the illegal alien problem, the Southern States would. And that is what’s happening. The Southern States will be the battleground in the war on illegal immigration. We don’t trust the Federal Government and haven’t since roughly the 1840’s. And we still have the scars of the so-called reconstruction of the South by the Federal Government following the “War for Southern Independence”. We feel we have reason to distrust them. We also feel, as we did then, that this is our home… and we have a right to protect it from anyone and everyone.

Now, for those of you who for your own purposes simply drop the word “illegal” when referring to those aliens in our country illegally …get a grip! We are not against LEGAL IMMIGRATION!!! NO! We are against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!

Nearly every Southern state has begun to fight back in the war on illegal immigration. We will build the pressure on the Federal Government until they have to do something. Either they will accept their responsibility and begin to enforce the Federal Immigration Laws already on the books, or they will come down hard on the Southern States… again. I expect the latter.

Everyone, including states, have a point at which they will say: “This far… and no farther!” The Southern States have reached that point with the Illegal Immigration problem.

If the Federal Government will not do it’s duty and stop the largest land invasion in the history of the planet, then the Southern States will have to do it for them.

Taxing the Joy out of Life..... By Alan Caruba

Taxing the Joy out of Life
By Alan Caruba

With exquisite irony, the box in which my favorite cigars arrive has a picture of the White House emblazoned on its cover and, underneath, the words, “Casa Blanca.” I smoke Presidentes, a Dominican Republic handmade cigar. They are identified as a “luxury cigar.” Given the current cost of the two boxes I enjoy every month that is an apt description.

Reports out of Washington, however, indicate that Congress has proposed raising taxes on premium cigars. The increase would be 20,000 percent. No, that is not a typographical error. 20,000 percent! It would raise the cost of a cigar astronomically.
The justification offered by the Democrat-controlled Congress is that it needs to waste…er…raise an extra $35-billion to $50-billion for “the state children’s health insurance program. The program distributes payments to the states to help buy coverage for kids not poor enough for Medicaid.” Yet another costly social welfare program among the others currently broke or shortly to be utterly bankrupt.

Watch out for Congress to go after “Big Candy” as a threat to the health of “little children” who must be “protected” against “excessive sugar consumption” (while insuring that the U.S. sugar industry continues to receive a subsidy that requires Americans to pay more for sugar than any other nation on earth.).

Before someone begins to assail me for smoking cigars, let me note that my Father smoked a pipe until he died and his father smoked a pack or more of cigarettes before he died. Both were well into their 90’s at the time of their demise and it occurred to me when I began smoking in college that I probably would not be adversely affected if I smoked as well. I took up cigars while serving in the U.S. Army. They are probably the only indulgence I have left as I verge on the seventh decade of my life.

There is a reason we celebrate living in “the land of the free” and that is, presumably, that the government designed by the Founding Fathers was supposed to leave us alone. The Constitution does not grant Congress the power to determine what or how much we eat, whether or not we become obese, whether we smoke, whether attending too many rock concerts can harm one’s hearing, or any other aspect of our presumably private lives.

But the government interferes everywhere it can, often to our detriment and even death. The demand for higher mileage from a gallon of gasoline completely ignores the fact that there is a finite amount of energy to be secured. The only way to get more is to lighten the vehicle and that leads to people in tiny cars getting squashed like bugs if they encounter an 18-wheeler truck or just a telephone poll.

The government mandates how much water your toilet is allowed to use and that has resulted in a new generation of toilets that, as often as not, must be flushed twice in the interest of sanitation. The government is throwing millions at solar and wind power research despite the fact that the U.S. has hundreds of years of coal reserves as well as oil and natural gas reserves that the same government keeps off limits from development.

Not long ago, the government decided to slap a big tax on yachts, thus forcing yachting firms to move their businesses offshore and throwing the workers who made yachts out of a job. Now, cigar manufacturers in places like Tampa, Florida will be forced to close and the importers and sellers of fine cigars coast to coast would suffer a disastrous loss of business.

The same thinking behind slamming the rich for wanting a yacht is behind an insane tax on cigars; obviously only rich people smoke them, it’s bad for their health, and we’re only doing this to help “the children.”

Meanwhile Congress is also considering empowering the Food and Drug Administration with authority over cigarette and other tobacco products, allowing the FDA to regular the levels of tar, nicotine, and other components of tobacco. The justification for this is that cigarette smoke contains 4,000 chemicals, “more than 40 of which are known to cause cancer.” But how does one explain all those smokers who do not get cancer?

How do you protect health-conscious people with a history of cancer in their family, i.e., a genetic likelihood, against the endless chemicals and other substances that exist in the environment? The answer is that you can’t.

If it seems to you that the federal government is totally out of control and detached from any sense of reality or common sense, you’d be right. It just keeps getting worse. A single phrase in the preamble of the Constitution, “promote the general welfare”, has been so totally misappropriated and distorted that government is now able to justify any idiotic, job-killing, industry-destroying law it wants to pass.

Government as carnival sideshow has become the order of the day. The posturing and pandering that occurs in the chambers of the Senate and House would be laughable if it did not lead to the hectoring of the public for every pleasure they enjoy. Smokers are already treated like lepers. This tax is shameless and indicative of the increasing intrusiveness into our right to make private and personal lifestyle choices.

National Healthcare. A Socialist, Commie, Dream! A Free Man’s Nightmare!

National Healthcare. A Socialist, Commie, Dream! A Free Man’s Nightmare!
We are continuing to lose our privacy, here in America, at an ever-increasing speed. There is hardly a place in America one can go, these days, without being seen by someone’s security cameras. I recently stood in a parking lot of one of the Big Box stores and counted 22 cameras zeroed in on the parking area, and entrances, and exits, to the store. And that was just on the OUTSIDE, at the front, of the store!

And those red-light cameras? Don’t get me started on that!!!

If you think Big Brother’s snooping is bad now… just wait… it will get worse, a LOT worse, if we allow it.

If you think it’s bad now, wait until we have national health insurance. (You know… Hillary Care????) Our every move will be monitored, and we will be directed, by the government, in every facet of our lives.

Weigh too much? Lose weight… or the government won’t pay for your medical bills.

Drive too fast? Slow down or the government won’t pay for your medical bills if you’re in an accident.

Smoke? The government won’t pay for your medical bills, period.

Have more than (two) kids? Your medical bills will not be paid if you exceed the allowable limit on babies.

Pregnant with a third child and the government insists that you have an abortion, but you really want this third child? Well, either have an abortion, or that third child will have no medical coverage and the cost of the pregnancy, and delivery, will not be covered, either.

Didn’t finish High School? Your medical bills will not be covered if you do not get a High School Diploma.

Take the wrong courses in college? Well, if you didn’t check before you signed up for a course, and you signed-up for a course the government thinks is uncalled for, or that you do not need for your chosen occupation… then your medical bills will not be picked up by the National Healthcare.

Own a gun? Why, everyone knows there is an epidemic of deaths due to handguns in America. So it is a health issue. National Healthcare will not pay for your medical bills until you turn in your guns to the government!

Choose the wrong career, and you are on your own! No medical help from the government.

Get the picture? Almost total control. And you, and I, will have given that power to the government! (or your employer) After a while, there won’t be much difference, anyway.

So, next time you hear someone calling for National Healthcare, remind them of all the freedom they will give up for that cradle to the grave care.

The founders of this country wanted us to live free. Healthy, if we can manage it, but free, in any event. Today, it seems, we are prepared to give our freedom up for a form of modern day Marxism... "Socialized Medicine".

To paraphrase Shakespeare, “Socialized Medicine by any other name, would still stink!”

The Secrets We Keep.

The Secret We All Know But Will Not Speak Aloud.
Marxist based politically correct movement has given Americans a sense of deep shame. It has also given us a sense of vulnerability we did not have before The Political Correctness Movement arrived from Europe onto our shores.

As a result American dare not speak the truth… about anything. If one speaks the truth one may offend someone else and that is unacceptable in a society ruled by Marxism… excuse me, I mean… Political Correctness. Ask our cousins in the United Kingdom. They are smothered, practically to death, by layers of political correctness.

Political correctness has forced the US to turn out several generations of students from our public schools with mediocre, or less than mediocre, educations. We turn out some of the dumbest students on the globe! Many receive diplomas they can’t even read! Foreign students run rings around our public school educated students.

This country’s education system used to be celebrated, world wide, as the best. Then, it collapsed.

So, what happened?

Integration happened. Then bussing happened. And between the two we managed to destroy the world’s best public education system.

We saw the collapse as it happened, but nobody would stand up and point out what was happening... and why. There was the looming Damocles Sword over the heads of anyone stupid enough to cry foul! And, so, we allowed our public school system to die a slow and horrible death.

Now, I am aware that I will get comments on this article calling me a racist and a bigot. I understand that. Because, as a southerner, I have come to expect that from those so ignorant they have no clue how else to respond. So, I’ll just overlook those comments and continue on.

First of all… I live in an integrated neighborhood. My neighbors, across the street, are black. My neighbors behind me, whose property abuts mine, are black. My neighbors, two doors down, are black. I hired the first black broadcaster and added him to the staff of an all white broadcast station in Southeastern North Carolina… in the seventies! So… if you still want to contend I am a racist… then have at it.

Did you ever visit several churches on a Sunday morning and observe how your community is segregated during the worship hour? It is probably the most segregated hour of the week in America. Folks are given a choice as to where they wish to worship, and with whom they wish to worship, and they choose, by the vast majority, to worship with other folks of the same race.

Now… visit your neighborhood school during the lunch hour and observe the way the students, when given the freedom to decide where they will sit in the cafeteria, choose to sit with other students of their own race. You’ll see the same phenomena at athletic events.

There is a tension between the races, in our schools, and there has been since integration was forced upon the students of America. Neither side particularly liked it. That tension exists and it is palpable in the schools you might visit today.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I think integration of public schools is fine. What I think is NOT fine, and is absolutely wrong, is… forced integration of those schools. And to make matters even worse, forced bussing of students to fill some quota, or other, of blacks vs. whites in the student bodies of those schools. NOBODY likes it.

If a neighborhood school has black and white students, by choice, then that is fine. Those students and their families want them to be there and they are comfortable and an atmosphere, conducive to learning, is not destroyed by dissatisfaction among the students and the parents of those students.

So… why are we doing it? And why are we continuing to graduate students from our public school system who are simply not educated enough to function in today’s society… let alone compete in the global marketplace?

I was fortunate in that I graduated High School before the integration of our schools began. Believe it, or not, a high school education in the 1950’s was better than a 2 year college degree today. The high school graduates of the 1950’s could stand toe to toe with, and best, nearly any two year college grad today. The quality of the education American students received in the 1950’s was so far superior to anything the American student gets today that it is shocking!

College professor friends tell me that, these days, the first two years of college is basically remedial. The college must teach the high school graduate what he was not taught in high school before he, or she, can embark on their college studies. That, dear reader, speaks volumes about the inferior education system we have in America today.

So… how do we fix it? I don’t think we can. I would suggest scraping the American public education system and starting over. To guarantee schools are allowed to actually teach their students, keep the federal government completely out of the new public school system. Each state should have it’s own public school system. No feds allowed.

Open the schools to mixed races. If the student s and their families wish to attend a certain school, then allow them to do so…even if that means having some schools predominantly black and others predominately white. Who cares… as long as the students are happy and are getting a quality education?

Private schools and home schools will still exist and that would be fine, too, for those who wish to go that route.

Do you see the problem with this, though? We have too many power hungry politicians in DC who simply cannot allow American students to go through 12 years of public education without being guinea pigs in their great social experiments with the young people of America. And that is exactly how we got into this mess with under educated students in America today!

All of the above is troubling. But… what is even more troubling is... the fact that we Americans see the problems, we see the reasons behind the problem, we know how to fix the problem, yet… we allow it to exist and we continue sentence our young students to a lives of mediocrity… all because we are afraid to speak up and correct an imminently correctable situation!

How can we do this to our kids? How can we do this to ourselves? How can we do this to our nation… and expect our nation to survive, and compete, in a world of scholars and in a global marketplace run by scholars? At some point it will all catch up with us.

If you have any doubt as to the effect on our society the destruction of the public education system in America has already had… I offer as evidence… exhibit “A”… the US Congress!

Is It Too Late to Save America? And Do We Want to?

Is It Too Late to Save America?... And Do We Want to?

Profound question, what? I’ll bet the same question has been floating around in your mind but you have been reluctant to bring it to the forefront... and gaze upon it ...and ponder.

It is a difficult thing to admit: that America is in deep trouble and may not survive. But there it is.

We have a government, which is dysfunctional, to say the least. We have a military which has been emasculated by that government, and we have a President who is more interested, it seems, in turning America into Northern Mexico that protecting America’s people from ALL enemies, domestic, and foreign. We have a Supreme Court which simply assumes powers it does not constitutionally have and takes it upon itself to make law where none existed before (even thought the constitution vests that power in the Congress alone!) as well as “find” restrictions on the American citizen, in the constitution, which are simply not there… except “IF” the Supreme Court says they are!

We have a citizenry angry over a non-responsive government. A citizenry angry that the government is showing a marked tendency to swing left into socialism.

We have a country in turmoil.

If polls can be believed: we don’t much care for our President… and we LOATHE the Congress… and we are irritated, no end, by the Supreme Court.

Americans of my generation look around us and we don’t recognize America, anymore. It is not the country we offered our lives for in it’s military services. Many actually question whether they would be willing to offer their lives, a second time, for the America of today. The answer is not encouraging.

Twice before America has found herself in this situation. Twice before it has lead to war on this continent.

Soon, the Islamofacists will explode a nuclear device in one of our large cities. (It would be naive to think otherwise.) There is a better than even chance the country, or at least a part of the country, will be placed under martial law. And THAT may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Martial law is, for all intents and purposes, dictatorship. Citizen’s rights are suspended. You are at the mercy of the government. Will you stand for that? Will America stand for that?

Fellow Americans… we are in deep trouble.

I suppose the title of this piece might be changed to: Is America Worth Saving?

Americans have some serious soul-searching to do. And therein lies my deepest concern. I no longer believe Americans are capable of introspection. Back when America cherished individualism, introspection was valued. It was what an individual did to seek out his, or her, core belief. To establish whom, exactly, that individual was. To learn his, or her, limits… and on and on. It was an exercise in “Know Thyself”!

‘Tis a rare thing to find a person who “knows himself” today. We assume personas we think will result in our being loved and respected by a populace every bit as warped as we are.

We have recently begun a national campaign, at the end of which, we will choose our nation’s leader. And every candidate we are being offered is deeply, deeply, flawed. There is not a qualified leader among them. Yet, we will select one, from their ranks, and we will make excuses for their flaws and we will stumble on, as a nation, toward oblivion.

The idea that was America has, somehow, been lost. Can we find it again? I doubt it. Usually, fate places the brass ring within our reach only once.

It has been said, by smarter men than me, that all great nations commit suicide. I believe that. I have watched with horror, since the early 1960’s, as this nation spiraled downward into mediocrity. The pain of watching my nation, my homeland, and my people, committing suicide is indescribable. America has simply lost the will to be great. It is simply too much work.

I have come to believe that, subconsciously, we know this… and that is why we try, so hard, to re-write our history, and re-name streets, and buildings, and such. I think our ancestors, who put us to shame as Americans, and as men, embarrass us! For we know we cannot hold a candle to their likes.

When I view that crowd of "weaklings" we Americans elected to lead us, in our nations government, I tremble with horror and dread at our prospects as a nation.

Yes, I cling to the America of the 19th century. They were real Americans then. Even when the country split into two nations, both sides were the grandchildren of the men who had fought King George’s finest for their freedom and independence… and won! Even when the Northern and Southern forces fought bloody battles claiming thousands of lives on both sides, on occasion, they would cease firing to stand and cheer and applaud the bravery of the men on the other side. That’s AMERICAN!

We’ve lost something fellow Americans. We’ve lost our soul as a country. As Faust did, we have made a deal, or multiple deals, with the devil of socialism and it has eaten away our nations soul.

When we are so intellectually challenged (Weak Minded) that we buy into, quite likely, the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind, Global Warming, and… when we allow a conglomeration of the largest collection of dictators, tyrants, thieves, and assorted brigands, such as the UN, to hold a Damocles Sword over our heads, and when we allow a rag-tag bunch of religious nuts, the Islamofacists, to murder us with near impunity, and tin-pot dictators, in the Middle East, to cause us to sleep in fear, then we are not men, we are certainly not American men! Our forefathers would not have allowed any of this we so willingly tolerate today.

America, we desperately need to take stock of who we are and compare that to who we were. There is very little, if any, comparison.

I realize I have asked a lot of questions and have offered no answers. Why? Because, I have no answers. Sometimes the best service one can offer is, simply, to ask the question(s). I must admit that I have been totally unprepared for an America such as we have today. I am a man out of time. I readily admit that.

I will, however, venture this: I’d like to think my beloved country could save itself. But, short of a fresh start, frankly, I don’t see how.

Are you familiar with The American’s Creed? No… not the Pledge of Allegiance… the American's CREED. Different thing. It is official. The US House of Representatives adopted it in 1918. William Tyler Page wrote it. Here is the text of “The American’s Creed”:

"I believe in the United States of America as a Government of the People, by the People, for the People; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; A democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many Sovereign States; a perfect Union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of Freedom, Equality, Justice, and Humanity for which American Patriots sacrificed their Lives and Fortunes.

I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to Love it; to Support its Constitution; to obey its laws; to Respect its Flag; and to defend it against all enemies."

WOW! That’s powerful! But, notice, if you will, when it was written. 1917. Things sure have changed since.

Be honest now… had you ever even heard of The American’s Creed before today??? If not… ask yourself… why not? Is it because you were spoon fed the politically correct version of American History in school? Much of what passes for American History today is blatantly false… rewritten to suit some idea of Utopia, which does not exist, and never will. And this rewriting of whom we were… changes who we are. A great deal of the credit for America’s decline can be laid at the feet of those who have written America’s greatness out of the record.

As my life cycle winds down, now, I rest in the knowledge that My America is bound to my heartstrings with bonds of love, loyalty, and respect. For, even if we have failed… at least... we made the effort. And for a brief, shining moment, America was, well, America.

Goodbye America, Hello North American Union ... by Alan Caruba

Goodbye America, Hello North American Union
By Alan Caruba

In a month, August 20 and 21, the leaders of the United States, Canada, and Mexico will sit down together in Montebello, Quebec to discuss making the borders between these three nations disappear. They will discuss progress on a vast highway project passing through America to link Mexico with Canada.

So far, no one has asked the citizens of these three nations whether they want to do this. It is not up for a vote in Congress and, indeed, Congress has no supervision over the gnomes in the U.S. Department of Commerce who are busily “harmonizing” the laws under the auspices of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP).

This, we’re told, is not a treaty so Congress has no constitutional oversight obligation. I guess it’s more like a nice big handshake between the presidents and prime minister of these three nations who, let’s face it, just know better than the rest of us. I mean, do Canadians really think they’re in charge of Canada? Americans should have a say about programs affecting America? Or has anyone asked Mexicans if they want to be part of some “harmonized” configuration not unlike the European Union?

Last time I checked, the European Union lacked a constitution because some of its member states, notably France, had rejected the one that was offered. The Constitutions of the United States, Canada and Mexico are about three sovereign states determining their own regulations and laws. So far, fourteen U.S. States have passed resolutions in their respective and sovereign legislatures directing the federal government to abandon further activities involving SPP.

Part of the opposition is directed at what is generally called the NAFTA Superhighway; an exceptionally wide corridor that would include rail lines, freeways, and pipelines from Mexico to the Canadian border. The Texas legislature passed a law intended to slow down the highway project with a two-year moratorium. The vote in the Texas House was 137-2. The Texas Senate passed it with only four votes in opposition, but the Governor vetoed it in late June, thus opening the door to the seizure of the private property needed for the Trans Texas Corridor (TCC).

Turns out that Texas had already signed a 50-year lease with a private Spanish company named Cintra, one that permits for no competition by way of building new government roads or improving existing ones going in the same direction.

Why are we not surprised to know that SPP was kicked off in 2005 by a meeting in Crawford, Texas of the then-presidents of the three nations hosted by President George W. Bush, a former Governor of Texas?

Bush has been a leading proponent of the “immigration reform” legislation that more than two-thirds of Americans polled say they do not want. Tucked into those “reforms” were provisions to advance SPP. A Teddy Kennedy amendment to S. 1348 asserts that, “It is the sense of the Congress that the United States and Mexico should accelerate the implementation of the Partnership for Prosperity to help generate economic growth and improve the standard of living in Mexico, which will lead to reduced immigration.” Oh, yeah? And here I thought the economic well being of Mexico was the job of the Mexican government.

As this is written, the President and the Congress have the lowest popularity ratings ever. Perhaps it has something to do with a secretive process involving the highest levels of government and a consortium of multinational corporations who are eager for the nation-busting North American Union and the superhighway?

Indeed, “secretive” is the mode of operation for SPP from the beginning. Last year, from September 12 to 14, a gathering sponsored by something called the North American Forum, brought together some very powerful people, but the media was not informed about it, nor has a list of attendees been available. One Canadian commentator has written that, “There is no better indication that these meetings and the SPP itself, constitute a parallel governing structure—unaccountable to any democratic institution or the public.”

This is not the way America, Canada, and presumably, Mexico, is supposed to be governed. The public outcry against the proposed immigration reform bill was enough to kill it in its present form.

In his book, “The Late Great U.S.A.” ($25.95, WND Books), Jerome R. Corsi, Ph.D., warns that, “There are movements afoot in Mexico, Canada, and the United States, similar to those in Europe that led to the formation of the European Union that, if left unchecked, will erode U.S. sovereignty and lead to a North American Union.”

Perhaps when Congress begins to raise our taxes, authorize a superhighway, and offer yet another amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, the American people may take notice and want to do something about it. By then, however, it will be too late.

That’s what President Bush is counting on. Meanwhile, he has a big calendar counting down the days to January 20, 2008 when he can start cashing in on having sold out the rest of us.

The Federal Tax On Each Cigar Could Rise From 5 Cents to $10.

The Federal Tax On Each Cigar Could Rise From 5 Cents to $10.
I’m a cigar smoker. A box a week. Do you think I am angry about the Dems and their taxes?!

Back to lobbying my Representatives and Senators!

For the details on this thievery by the Dems, go here:

Of course, it is “for the children”! I am sick to my stomach of the Dems using the phrases: “women and minorities hit hardest" and “for the children”!

We have to stop them. They are on the inevitable power trip the Dems ALWAYS build up to when they get the reins of power in their hot little hands.

But this… this is absurd!

Fairness Doctrine Not Dead. Only Delayed!

Fairness Doctrine Not Dead. Only Delayed!

Ok, so the House voted to kill any quests to re-instate the Fairness Doctrine, right? And the Senate killed an attempt to do pretty much the same thing. Plus, the President has said he will veto it if it gets through both Houses of Congress.

So… that’s it, right?

Not by a LONG SHOT!!!

There is an election coming next year. You can bet the farm that if Democrats maintain control of both houses of Congress, and gain the Presidency as well, the Fairness Doctrine WILL be re-instated ASAP! That is a given!

Add to the mix the very real possibility that they will extend it to cover the Internet as well. So, those of us in the blogosphere may find our free speech stifled just like that of the Broadcasters. Don’t tell me that can’t happen! As a Blogger who has had his blog locked, already, and access denied to him, I can tell you it is a horrifying feeling. One feels as if one has been muzzled.

One of the chief concerns of the left is freedom of speech. It is troublesome for them. When you look at the countries around the globe in which the Left has taken over established governments you quickly see that the very first thing they do… is muzzle the Broadcast stations and the printed media which is not supportive of the Left. It is what they do. Until the Internet came along, there had never been a successful revolution, in modern history, until the Broadcast stations were neutralized FIRST!

And that is exactly what the Left is trying to do with the Fairness Doctrine. Neutralize the Broadcast Media.

The Broadcast Media is a powerful force for freedom. It is truly the voice of the people. And therein lies the rub! Vox populae. The people’s voice(s). Broadcast media with a conservative message is a threat to the political left. Give them credit for understanding that, at least.

And, there’s one thing, which just grinds on me… that is the left’s fascination with fairness… across the board.

Look, one of the first things I learned as a child, no less, is that life ain’t fair! If it was… individuals would have no impetus to better themselves. One faces adversity and one triumphs over it… or one fails. If one fails one should learn from that failure… and press on. That is not the way the left sees it, apparently. In their view… one should never have to triumph over adversity. One should never be faced with adversity. That’s fine for a “blob”. But not for a human being to grow as a human being.

In their drive to make things “fair” they have brought despair and misunderstanding upon the American people. As a result we have turned out a couple of generations of young Americans who have no idea how to deal with adversity. And, oh Lord, how it shows!

One example is that clause in the Constitution, which guarantees Americans freedom of speech. The Constitution does not, however, grant American the right to have someone actually listen to what they may speak. Nowhere does it guarantee an American the right to be heard! So, our friends on the left feel compelled to correct that. Enter: The Fairness Doctrine.

This blog is a perfect example of freedom of speech. It is also an example of my not having the right to be heard! I can make my opinions known here and you can decide whether you want to read what I have to say, or not. There are no guarantees.

Yes, the Fairness Doctrine is definitely a threat to Freedom of Speech. If for no other reason we Americans must see that it is never re-enacted.

America has given up entirely too much of it’s freedom, beginning with the Lincoln Administration, to present. It is past time to call a halt to encroaching anarchy. We should do it now while there are still a few of us “Old Timers” still around who remember what a great nation the US used to be.

Conservatives are Holding onto their Political Contributions!

Conservative Money is Being Deliberately Held from Current GOP Candidates.
Have you noticed how the GOP Presidential candidates are running out of money? Have you noticed that the Democrat candidates are drawing more money from contributors? You’d have to have been living under a rock to miss it. The MSM has made a huge thing of it. What they are not telling you is the reason. I mean the real reason. So, I’m going to tell you!

Conservative money remains, at this point, in the pockets of conservatives. We have no one to whom to contribute. If you think we are going to contribute to McCain, Giuliani, or Romney, you are sadly mistaken. Ain’t going to happen!

The moment Fred Thompson announces officially, the purse strings will be loosed, on the right, and the cash will flow into his coffers. McCain is done and so are the other two, Giuliani and Romney.

Conservatives are on the sidelines in this presidential campaign… at least until a conservative announces. I mean, of course, a conservative who has a realistic chance of winning.

What kind of impact will there be on the Presidential Election when the Conservatives become engaged? Like night and day. You saw the power we brought to bear on the President, and the Congress, over the Amnesty Bill. And that’s nothing compared to a sustained campaign to get a real conservative in the Whitehouse so we can protect our gains on the Supreme Court. Sure, it’s nice to have the US House and the US Senate within conservative control, but we’ll trade you both the House and Senate for the US Supreme Court… any day.

We need, at least, one more conservative justice on the Court. Two, if we can get them. Without the office of the President in conservative hands that is not likely to happen. Plus, we need a real conservative President who will order the border with Mexico sealed.

The point is… do not be persuaded by the MsM that Americans are favoring Democrats this election cycle just because the money is drying up for the GOP candidates. The money is there, unspent and reserved… for a conservative candidate.

Come on, Fred! It’s time to announce and lets get this show on the road!

Political Correctness has Robbed America of Her Self Respect.

This Article Ran First in May of 2005 !
Political Correctness has Robbed America of Her Self Respect.

One of my “Pet Peeves” is men who do not “uncover” when they enter a house, or a public building, such as a restaurant. (For those of you unfamiliar with military terms…”uncover” means to remove your “cover”…or hat)

Yes, I am a Southerner. But, I’m do not believe this extremely discourteous, and rude practice, began with Southerners. I’m about as Southern as one can get and I remove my hat when coming indoors. In my home, as a boy, the quickest way to get yelled at was to enter the house with your hat still on. The instant your feet crossed the threshold, into my mother’s domain, the hat came off. Now, the cardinal sin within a southern family is for one to appear at the dinner/lunch table with your hat on. It just isn’t done. Well, it wasn’t done until fairly recently. It is disgusting to see a person; Southerner or northerner, sitting at table in a restaurant… eating… with his hat still perched on his head. It speaks of low breeding.

The hat on the head while inside another’s home is a sure sign of disrespect. When you remove your hat upon entering another’s home you are saying, “I am in your home as a guest, and I recognize that I am at your mercy, as this is your domain.”

In olden days, when a man’s home was truly his castle, a show of disrespect, such as not removing your hat in his castle, could cost the offender not just his hat, but the head residing just beneath it, as well. This was serious business.

It has been my contention for some time that we have lost something as a society when we lost the “genteelness” which was so much a part of who we were, especially Southerners. I suppose that is one of the reasons I am drawn to the 19th century American history. It was during that period that the word “gentleman’ meant something. “Lady” was also a sign of deep respect …one the feminist movement tossed out a number of years ago. Now, for a woman to be referred to as lady is taken as a sign of disrespect!
Our society has lost a great deal in the past 30 years, or so. We have become crass, rude, discourteous, impolite, and, I’ll use a word no longer in use today: “common”. Even here, in the American South, the last bastion of good manners, we too, are slipping into the “Me, too” mindset which is founded on one’s own selfish motives and inflated self esteem now taught our children in the public/government schools.

We have lost something as a people. We have lost our own self-respect. Our society is doomed. All because men will not remove their hats while indoors, you may ask? No, that is but a sign, a marker, of the passing of a great society where the value of a human being was not in question. In America’s rush to embrace “Socialism” commonality is a must. The destruction of the “class system” is a must. The political correctness crowd, the vanguard of American Socialism, has done a smashing job of destroying the American class system in their rush to create a single class. They do not understand, or they choose to overlook, the fact that removing the three classes (Lower, Middle, and Upper classes) removes a goal for Americans to strive towards. When an American has nothing to set his sights on, no goal to work toward, he soon becomes discouraged and simply falls back into the darkness of low self-esteem and accepts that his position in life will never change for the better and he is trapped. All hope is gone. Without hope all is lost.

Good manners were always about respect… respect for the other person. Look around you. Where do you see that respect today? It is all but non-existent. We, as Americans, have lost our respect for others, and as a result, we have lost our respect for ourselves.
