No, don’t Rebuild New Orleans.
They saw it coming and did nothing!
I’m on “compassion overload” today. I have watched, along with millions of other Americans, as hundreds, even thousands, of our fellow Americans hunker down amid devastation to await the government’s help.
My sorrow is slowly changing to anger.
How does an entire section of our population come to the conclusion that they are wards of the government and not only expect the attendance due such wards, but DEMAND it? How did we arrive at this juncture?
For many days we all watched as Hurricane Katrina set her sights on New Orleans. We knew she was going to get hit and hit extremely hard.
New Orleans is a city built in the worst possible place on the continent. It is located below the level of the surrounding sea, lake, and great Mississippi River. It was, and as it turns out, is, a death trap.
Why then, did so many people, for whatever reason, decide to remain in the direct path of a killer storm and expect, the US Government to bail them out? How can anyone trust another human being that much, let alone a political entity? Where is the reason in that kind of thinking?
Now the storm has hit causing devastation to lives and property and those left in the ruble sit and wait. Again, waiting upon the government to come get them and provide for them.
I have come to the conclusion that we do not need to rebuild the city of New Orleans. At least not where it has been since the French founded it in that swamp. Who is to say that within months a brand NEW city would not be totally destroyed… just as the old city has been? Oh, it will happen. That’s guaranteed. Only the time is in question.
No, do not rebuild New Orleans. Instead, let the sea have it. Be done with it.

The blogoshere has definitely split down the middle and the Left has “flaked” off into insanity. According to many of the Leftist blogs the hurricane was entirely George Bush’s fault and he did it because of the black people in New Orleans.
Yes, Dear Reader, racism has now officially arrived at the blogoshere. Guess who introduced it? You’ve got it! The Left. They seem to be the only portion of the American political spectrum to see everything defined by the color of one’s skin.
Oh, but you may say, why are all those poor black refugees seen on the newscasts? Did someone get all the white people out and deliberately leave the black people?
That’s sick!
If you care to examine the problem you will quickly learn that the population of New Orleans was 67% black. (That according to the 2000 Census.)
Check the US “Posse Comitatus” law and you will also quickly learn why the National Guard cannot act as police anywhere in America, not just New Orleans.
We also suggest you check this site to learn why the city of New Orleans knew this devastation could happen. Where was the planning?

The Political Left is offering NOTHING constructive toward solving the problem in the American southeast. Nothing! They continue to blame, and find fault with, the administration even to the point of dragging race into a non-racial event! My Lord, how low can they go? Even lower, I expect.
How dumb can they be? They wanted high gasoline prices to force conservation on the American motorist. Well, now they have them! Now what? Huh?
Where does this end? Does it end? I think not. Tempers are beginning to flare, not just in New Orleans, all over America. We are approaching a confrontation. It is not going to be pretty.
When a political organization can turn a massive human tragedy into a political event, for their own political gain, what wickedness is left for them to indulge themselves in?
Many of us, on the Political Right, are running on “toleration overload” right now! It will take only an insignificant spark to bring our capacity for more toleration of the sinister pranks of the Left to the boiling point. Believe me, you do not want to see conservatives get angry!
Currently, America is "two countries living as one nation". How much longer can we keep this up? How much longer do we want to keep this up?
It has become more than a little tiresome.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, there are other things going on in the world besides the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.
For Instance, the up-coming Senate Judicial Committee hearings concerning John Roberts for the Supreme Court. That will be a three-ring circus if there has ever been one.
And yesterday, UN Ambassador John Bolton made the news by ticking off all the right people at the UN. Bless him; he’s doing his job!
But, I do want to go back for a moment to the problems in New Orleans, especially the looting and why the absence of Martial Law.
Turns out, there is no provision in the Louisiana state’s constitution for Martial Law. None. Somehow that little item just, sorta, slipped by.
A little research yesterday and I found some explanations as to what was really happening in New Orleans and why.
Now even though there is no Martial Law term in the State’s Constitution, the Governor’s Declaration of an Emergency DOES allow for the suspension of Civil Liberties. On top of that, the Homeland Security laws coupled with the Emergency Assistance and Disaster Act of 1993 also give the Governor, and Parish presidents, the power to commandeer property. The Governor’s Emergency Declaration is se to last for at least 30 days.
Two things: I don’t think the Declaration of a State of Emergency is going to be strong enough, and certainly 30 days is only a parsec of time in the over all time period it will take to clean up the mess in New Orleans.
The calls for the Southern States National Guard Units, now serving in Iraq, to be immediately brought home is just over the top. Once again it shows the unconnectedness of the Left to the actual facts of the situation.
And then there is the explanation that God sent the Hurricane into Mississippi to punish the Republican Governor of the state Haley Barber.
One other thing is gnawing at me and that is the question in the press and on the Internet: “Where are the Other Counties with offers of assistance?” The Left simple refuses to believe that we can handle things ourselves. It used to be called “rugged individualism” and was highly regarded in America. Now the proliferation of the idea of Victimhood, pushed so hard by the Left, has taken a foothold and those of us who insist on doing things alone, and using our own resources to solve problems, are said to be snobs and anti-social. Well, so be it.
Frankly, I do not want help from France, Germany, or any of the European counties… nor from the UN. I do not wish to have our country beholden to them… for any reason. This is an American problem… and Americans will handle it.

There is no excuse for the looting in New Orleans , Mississippi, Alabama and other areas hit by Hurricane Katrina. None.
There is much I have read, on the Internet, supporting looting and the looter’s right to loot, but no pun intended, their arguments don’t hold water.
I don’t care how you try to define it down, looting is stealing. It is thievery!
New Orleans and Mississippi and Alabama are not California. Looters WILL get themselves shot by homeowners and shop owners. There are reports already that dead bodies of gunshot victims have been seen floating in the water ravaged streets.
As a Southerner who lives in the “Hurricane Alley” of the Carolinas… this does not surprise me. One of the preparations we make, when a hurricane is approaching, is to check our ammunition, and our weapons, as they might be needed for self-defense and the defense of our property.
Maybe it is time to impose Martial Law in New Orleans. I mean, don’t just threaten to do it… actually do it. Now, understand when Martial Law is declared, Constitutional Rights no longer exist. The Military is the law. No warrants are required, there are no trials, and none of the rights granted under the constitution exist during that period. Looters can, and most likely will, be shot by soldiers… and absolutely nothing will be done to the shooter.
I doubt that a jury of a shooter’s peers here in the South, would ever, ever, find the shooter of a looter guilty of any homicide charges, which might be brought against him, or her. We take property rights extremely seriously.
I was taken aback at the websites excusing the looting as being owed to the looters by the rich folks of the south, etc, etc. Other sites excused the looting of foodstuffs and water and such. I hardly think one can eat a wide screen TV!
Oh, and by the way, blaming George Bush for the hurricane is about as empty headed as it comes. Blaming him for not having enough National Guard troops, here in the states, to aid in emergencies is way off base. Only about a third of Guard forces are deployed at any given time. We have plenty of troops for hurricane duty, not counting regular Army personnel and personnel from the other services. The Left never cease to amaze me with their utter ignorance of the “facts on the ground” at any given time. I suppose that is what comes of being driven by “emotions” rather than 
“reason”… a hallmark of the Political Left.
We continue to hold our brothers and sisters in prayer as they continue the struggle against the forces unleashed by Nature on our Gulf Coast region. They WILL come back stronger than ever. Such is the faith we here at Insight have in our fellow Americans.“Longstreet”
The public “hand wringing” of the Left gives aid and comfort to the enemies of the US. That’s as plain and simple as I know how to say it.
The American left is in full panic! So, they run out all their wimps and limp wristed spokesmen, and spokeswomen, and turn their cameras on them while the pens of their scribes smoke across the pages of their notepads being certain to record every nuance, every syllable, of every word uttered in anguish over the possibility that the United States, their very own country, may actually win a military conflict!
If you think this public spectacle in Texas, and around the country, and on the pages of left wing news papers, and TV news channels is rooted in deep concern for the welfare of US troops, you are sadly mistaken. All this Left Wing garbage is aimed at damaging the President, and the Bush Administration, and elevating the Democratic Party in the US. They don’t give a d**n about the welfare of the US Military, or the security of this country. Their single goal is to regain power on the national stage. If that requires giving “aid and comfort to the enemies” of the United States they have proven they are more than willing to do so.
They are disgusting. Their craven, cowardly, actions and will only bring more death to US service men and women and embolden our enemies it step up their efforts to damage the progress of Democracy in the Middle East.
The babbling idiots of the Left don’t have a clue that the very terrorists they are aiding with their “protests” and demands that “the President bring the troops home” would slit their throats, at the first opportunity, and laugh in their faces as their life slips away.
It’s time to stop molly coddling that bunch of anti-American cry babies and start calling them by the name they have earned by their antics…. cowards!
And, another thing: Why can’t we question their patriotism, huh? Only an idiot will buy their claim to support the troops without supporting the war! That is an impossibility. If one doesn’t support the mission of the troops then one does not support the troops. It’s just that simple!
I, along with a few million other Americans, are getting very tired of spending our treasure and spilling the blood of our country’s youth to secure the safety of that bunch of quivering, quaking, trembling, back stabbers from the American Left!
Am I angry? You’re durned right I’m angry! This nation went through this crap in the 60’s and we have entire generations of Americans, who served their country honorably, who have been tarnished forever. An entire generation of Americans who have never gotten over the damage done them by the same political party and the same left wing branch of that party who ceded victory to the communists in Southeast Asia. Due to their efforts the 58,000 Americans died in Viet Nam for NOTHING! And, if they have their way, the dead Americans in the Middle East will be added to the list of those having died in vain! How utterly, and completely, unforgivable!
The yellow journalism we see on out TV screens every evening, and read in our newspapers every morning, is the stuff of sick, poisonous, minds that care for nothing… save their own power. They will gladly climb over the bodies of America’s dead servicemen to again claim the White House and the Congress and further degrade this country and turn us into vassals for that glittering jewel of socialism, the United Nations!
Good Lord! How did we get here? How have we allowed this cancer of socialist malignancy to eat away the soul of the greatest nation on earth?
It’s time to fight back! Americans, who still love their country and still revere the true American dream of freedom, will rise up, in righteous anger, and shout down the voices calling for the defeat of America and America’s efforts to bring freedom to a people who have suffered under the yolk of dictators for centuries.
If those people ever regain power in the United States, she will cease to exist. We cannot turn over the security of this country to a political party which folds as soon as the going gets tough. We cannot give power to a political party that will not defend freedom because the cost is too high.
