America... Lost!

Congratulations
to Democrats
On their US House win...
and possibly...
the US Senate as well!!!!
*****************************

I was talking to a dear friend the other day and we began to commiserate on the state America finds herself in these days. It is not a pretty picture.

I do not like what America has become. No longer “united”, we have become two countries barely co-existing under one flag. We are at the doorstep of becoming a copy of the Balkans.

I think the country is hopeless split. I don't think it will ever be "one" again. The wounds are too deep. The ideology of both sides is so completely at odds that I see no way we will ever return to being a single entity again. If an attack on the nation, our common home, can't bring us together, (and it didn't) there is absolutely no hope.

Roughly 1/2 of the people on this continent want to go the way of Europe and the other half would like to return to the pre-1960's America. You know where I come down. (For those who don’t I’m among the latter group.)

I think the country is doomed no matter the winner (Democrats) of yesterday's election. As the GOP has learned (or should have learned... and the Dems are about to learn) you cannot govern a country split this badly. Just as the Left was doing everything in it's power to sabotage everything the Right tried to do, now the Right will be making every effort to sabotage everything the Left tries to do.

Eventually, we will have to become two countries... or go to war with each other. The last Civil War didn't begin overnight. As far back as the 1820's the country was in a similar spot as we find ourselves today. Neither side was interested in settling it through negotiation. Negotiation wouldn't have worked, anyway. So we started shooting at each other. Now... we are still "shouting" at each other!

I don't think there will be another Civil War. I think we learned our lesson from the last one. I have come to believe that, this time, we will simply agree to separate. I'm not sure, geographically, how that will play out. But, it will not, necessarily, be a north/south split. Some think the northeastern states will most likely join with Canada.

I suppose the really sad thing is, our enemies will be salivating as they wait for the split so they can move in and take control of the weaker of the two countries. The northern states will, in all likelihood, go Islamic almost overnight. That region seems to be where the Islamic influence, and presence, is most prevalent. So, they already have a beachhead. New York, Chicago, Detroit, Boston, etc, will become mirror images of Baghdad, with the bombings and killings, until the populace surrenders to Islam.

This is a dark picture of the future of what used to be the United States. But, just saying, "united", doesn't make it so. Far from it.

History teaches us that ALL great nations commit suicide. I think the act itself has already happened. I think the opening shot was the assassination of JFK. Now, we are simply "bleeding out".

As soon as the nuclear attacks, on our great cities, begin (I suspect we are talking about months, not years) it will be all over. After the experience Texas had, with the refugees they took in from Louisiana, the states left unharmed are not going to be willing to take in refugees from the areas contaminated by radiation.

I see no light at the end of the tunnel. There isn't any. The experiment we called the United States has failed.

That would be a real shame, the will of the people have spoken and the republicans still left around should be made to submit, by force if necessary for the betterment of this nation..... Blah blah blah, extremist jargon off, common sense on........
The dems that won are mostly center left, or modreate not left left, I think.... No I know that governing by extremes is wrong for our differse and great nation, progress can be made in the center, as should be, and that would heal the rift in this nation. Remember Bush won in 2000 with the majority of people voting against him, he did not try to rule that way, to lead the majority who opposed him but rather force is idiological will upon us all...... Never a good decision my friend..... But anyway we (U.S.A.) will be here another 230 years, old friend, Good morning to you, now you know how I felt after 2000 and 2004, and I'm still here to make your life he**. (kidding) Put your partisanship aside, lets see if congress can come together and stop being a presidential rubber stamp, for all things eliteist. God bless.

Hey, Frank! I'm a Republican. We were out of power for 40 years! I already knew how you felt in 2000 and 2004! Believe me, how I feel this morning is not new to me!

In the next two years, I'm gonna be looking, diligently, for a more conservative political party. The Republicans in office thru yesterday, did not have the nerve to "pull the trigger". I want a party that will carry thru with the conservative agenda.

Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the Hose will almost certainly produce legislative gridlock in Washington. This vision of government paralysis should be extremely disturbing at a time when America sees itself as being in greater danger than at any time in modern history. However there may be an upside to this; if the Democrats should show themselves to be both incompetent and uncooperative in Congress in times of national peril, they could improve the chances of the Republican candidate in the presidential election of 2008.

If there is an upside, "Charlie", that's it. What worries me, however, is the danger the country is in and how even more vulnerable we will be when the Dems take the reins of power.

You see, we have yet to convince the American people, as a whole, that we are at war, let alone in danger. As ridiculous as that seems ... there it is. The Dems are convinced the terroist problem is a law enforcement issue. They have yet to understand we are under attack, as a nation, simply for being a free people.

The propaganda machine of the left, the Mainstream Media, will cover any mis-steps the Dems make and insure that the general public only hears of their successes.

We're in for a long, hard, ride. I have no idea how many American lives will be lost as a result of this decision made by the American people yesterday. But rest assured our enemies have been emboldened and will strike, and they'll be able to do it almost at will.

It's a shame.

There is an old expression that God looks after drunks and lttle children. I think one must add that God also looks after Americans... because we prove time, and again, we are not able to care for ourselves.

Best regards, "Charlie".

Wrong wrong wrong! The republicans have to follow the will of the people who threw them out! The 68% of the nation that disagrees with their agenda, or the are the obstructionists. The upside would be if the Dems. could get the country united and moving forward taking care of the business of the people, the business that has, by all accounts been mishandled since Bush took office. Why would you wish elceted leaders ill? Why not wish, that maybe these guys saw what happens when you don't listen to the people, the republicans didn't, maybe the Dems. will. Optimist, I hoped Bush in 2000 would follow the will of the majority, or atleast the minority that elected him, he did not, he betrayed you Longstreet, you've said it yourself, take the cottom out of your ears and put it in your mouth for 2 years, you might find things get better for you.

I kind of hope the Dems. send as many subpeneas to Bush as the republicans did to Clinton, on all their "right wing witch hunts". But I guess justice would be too much to ask for.
