"Understanding" our Enemy While They Conquer Us!
Is the US going to send a Muslin to represent the people of the US in the United Nations? It sure looks as though that's the case!
Reports are all over the place that the President is considering Zalmay Khalilzad for the position as US Ambassador to the UN.
Khalilzad is the Ambassador to Iraq and was the US Ambassador to Afghanistan (From which he hails, originally) as well. He has announced his decision to vacate that position very shortly.
Now, this may be all well and good, but I have to tell you that it sticks in my craw! You can call me what you like, but I have extremely strong reservations about appointing a Muslim to ANY position in the US Government and especially one in which he will be required to work with Muslims from the Middle East, or anywhere else, for that matter.
And before you ask, I do not like the fact that a Muslim has been elected to Congress and I would like to see the Congress refuse to seat him… which they have the authority to do. They won’t … of course.
Look, I take it seriously when my country is attacked. I take it seriously when 3,000 Americans are killed in a senseless, fanatical act, planned and perpetrated by Muslims. And you dare ask why I distrust Muslims???
Just a few days ago we celebrated the 65th anniversary of the Japanese SNEAK attack on Pearl Harbor when more than 2,000 Americans were killed. I know I will be condemned for this, but, I think Roosevelt was right to round up Japanese Americans and place them in Internment camps for the duration. Nowadays, we look back on that era with our superior “politically correct” view of the world, and we condemn Americans for doing what they felt they had to do to protect their families. We choose to forget that judging someone for something that took place three generations ago, by the standards of today, is not only unfair… it is nonsensical! Today the Americans of the 1940‘s are judged the same way my Confederate ancestors are being judged… by today’s standards. It is patently ridiculous!
When the terror attacks begin again, here in the US, we may well wish we had not condemned those Americans of the 1940’s. At least, THEY took steps to help insure their safety at home.
The Japanese drifted balloon powered firebombs across the Pacific to explode in the great forests of the US Northwest and even attacked American installations in the Aleutian Islands resulting in one of the largest land battles ever fought on American soil by a foreign power. The Germans sank US shipping, just off our Atlantic coastline, and even came close inshore, along the NC coast, an lobbed shells, from the deck gun of their submarine, at fuel storage tanks near the North Carolina beaches. BUT… there were no successful attacks in which 3000 American were slaughtered in a major metropolitan city!
Enemy saboteurs, within the US, were hunted down, rounded up… and shot dead! There was no weeping, and wailing, and gnashing of teeth, while Americans had a national debate over whether or not we needed to “understand our enemies”. That was for another day. The only thing that mattered then, and I submit to you… the only thing, which matters today, is the safety of their/our families. The difference? The Americans of the 1940’s saw their duty and they did it…period! As a result we remained… a free nation.
Now we are at the threshold again… and this time, dear reader, I wouldn’t give you two cents for the chance that American citizens have the stomach for a fight! No, we are too busy trying to “understand our enemies” and too “dull-witted” to understand that the only thing we have at risk here… is our lives and the life of this nation!

I am not calling you anything sir, but this is a direct quote from
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facism
where you can read the whole thing.....
I see alot of similarities with the occupiers in the Whitehouse and what went on in our government under republican control and the definitions found below.
Since Mussolini, however, there have been many conflicting definitions of the term "fascism." Merriam-Webster defines fascism as "a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition".[2]
Two particular definitions reflect the fact that Fascism has always arisen from an extreme right-wing ideology:
(1) "A system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism." --American Heritage Dictionary (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1983)
(2) "Extreme right-wing totalitarian political system or views, as orig. prevailing in Italy (1922-43)." --The Pocket Oxford Dictionary (Oxford University Press, 1984)
A recent definition is that by former Columbia University Professor Robert O. Paxton:
"Fascism may be defined as a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion."[3]
Paxton further defines fascism's essence as:
"1. a sense of overwhelming crisis beyond reach of traditional solutions; 2. belief one’s group is the victim, justifying any action without legal or moral limits; 3. need for authority by a natural leader above the law, relying on the superiority of his instincts; 4. right of the chosen people to dominate others without legal or moral restraint; 5. fear of foreign `contamination."[4]
Fascism is associated by many scholars with one or more of the following characteristics: a very high degree of nationalism, economic corporatism, a powerful, dictatorial leader who portrays the nation, state or collective as superior to the individuals or groups composing it.
Scary especially when the whole Conservative's phylosophy is filled with mantra like "They hate us because we are free", or "Racial profiling, you bet" and the whole stance on civil and himan rights abuses and the growth of government powers under the guise of keeping us safe..... It is just to keep the government safe from the governed...... Put some of this in your "Craw" for a while friend.....
Look, I hate fascism as much as any red-blooded Free American should... and does.
I will admit, proudly, to being a Nationalist! All of America, except for the far left, used to be nationalists. We were taught from our earliest days that America was THE Country... period. I still believe that and I still practice it... and I am proud of it!
Oh, one thing... the lefties, who write all the stuff about Facists... they all pronounce that Fascism comes from the right. They apparently, intentionally overlook the absolute, irrefutable, fact that Hitler and the Nazi Party (The Nationalist Socialist Party) came from the LEFT. It is a fact of history. Yet, they seem to miss that. Wonder why???
I only said similarities sir.... I understand that some of the social initiatives of the dems sound a little like socialism, can't you admit some of the stuff being pushed by guys on your side (combining corporate and government powers) sound a little, well right on with this, and the "everyone hates us for no reason" crap "poor us everyone picks on us and I don't understand why, oh it's because we are free" is rubbish..... Look at what our nation and corporations do overseas, we are seen as U.S.A. inc. I love this country as a nation not as a corporation.
Frank, America is a Capitalist Country. "The business of America IS business". Industry is the engine of Democracy.
The Pilgrims tried socialism and damn-near starved to death. When Gov. Bradford saw fit to give each man his own land, and his own seed, and said, basically, "sink or swim", they had a bumper crop and America was begun!
As for "being free" causing other countries to hate us.. yes, I believe that! As long as America stands as an example of what a free people can do and be... we are a threat to dictators all over the world from the Middle East to the jungles of Africa, to the commie counties of South America. Our very existance is a bane to them and their efforts to keep their people in slavery to the state. Yes, I DO believe that THAT is the underlying reason for the hate directed at America today.

Then why have we over thrown democratically elected leaders in central America and install right wing dictators?????????? HA! Not to keep harping on the same old, same old, you need to take a good hard look at what the republican regime does globally.
It began with the "Monroe Doctrine". The Monroe adminstration warned European powers, especially Russia, that South and Central America was OUR sphere of influence, our backyard and we would do whatever was necessary to keep our backyard free of enemies to the US. Russia and other European powers wanted a foothold within our territory to create a constant threat to the US. We could not allow that. Every President, and every adminstration, since James Monroe have done that. Democrat and Republican alike. Even to the sainted JFK who tried his best to assassinate Castro. JFK even invaded Cuba with a rogue army and then lost his nerve and allowed them to be slaughtered rather than allow the US Naval forces, standing off, just over the horizon, to go in and cover their retreat and help evacute the survivors off that island after the invasion had obviously failed.
Reagan and the Sandinistas. And that just scratches the surface. South America and Central America are on going problems since the Monroe Administration. We installed our own people, in office in South American countries to ensure the safety of Americans. Even Truman said of one on the puppets we installed, he may be a son of a bitch... but he is OUR SOB! If you want to stretch out to the Middle East, know that Jimmy Carter is to blame for the mess in Iran and, indirectly, the mess in Iraq today.
Back to South America, soon we will have to take out Chavez, It's coming. And Morales next door. They present a "clear and present danger" to America and we will not abide it longer than we absolutely have to. National Security demands that we do whatever is necessary to ensure your safety and mine. When the time comes to take out Chavez, it will not matter whether the US administration is Democrat or Repubican... Chavez will be gone. For now he is being allowed to play the clown while his own people build up hatred for him so they will welcome the forces, that eventually take him out, with open arms.
And while we are talking about the US sphere of influence, we will own Cuba in the not too distant future. I think we have learned our lesson now. Cuba is stragetic to US security and we will take it at some point and this time we WILL keep it.
This is not new. This is the way the game is played. It is not pretty, it is not fancy, but it is true... and it is deadly in earnest.
Freedom is not free. Somebody must do the dirty work. We have forces, you never hear about, who are constantly at war for the US. They may be in other uniforms they may speak languages, other than our own, and they are excellent at what they do. Their job is to get the job done while provideing "plausible deniability" for the President... every President... Democrat and Republican. When the Presidents put their hands on the Bible and take the oath of office, that undecover war goes with the oath. It is the war you DON'T see and DON'T hear about. But, it is there nevertheless. And it is never ending.
You and I, both, should thank God for men such as those dark warriors who are on the front lines in that war just so you and I can live free and argue with each other from day to day.
Best regards,
Longstreet

Maybe we should leave those nations at odds with us, after all they are looking out for themselves through their democratic process, and maybe we won't be able to merge our nation to theirs..... (See The N.A.U.) Funny how todays post connects all of these isn't it?
