Internet Perceived As A Threat By Government(s)

Internet Perceived As A Threat By Government(s)
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

Anytime people gather to discuss the shortcomings or “over comings” of their governments, those governments feel threatened.

In the world of the 21st century, the Internet is akin to a global town hall.  And that makes the Internet a HUGE threat to governments, everywhere.  They know it -- and they hate it.

Enter the UN.

“A gathering of United Nations diplomats overseas has some in the U.S. worried about a potential takeover of the Internet by foreign powers – with others claiming such fears are wildly over hyped.
The obscure branch of the U.N. at issue is the International Telecommunication Union, whose 193 member states include the U.S. and which was convening this week in Geneva. The ostensible purpose of the conference is to seek consensus for an updating of the last set of international telecom regulations, known as ITRs, which were issued in 1988.”  (SOURCE)

Ok.  So … why is this a concern?  Well, let’s go back to the story from Fox News:  “…Robert McDowell, a commissioner on the Federal Communications Commission, has been warning that the conference is a moment of great peril for industrialized and Third World countries alike. In an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal and a subsequent interview with Fox Business, McDowell accused the so-called “BRIC” countries – Brazil, Russia, India, and China – and their allies among developing nations of trying to seize the moment to strengthen international regulation of the Internet. Such a development, McDowell claimed, would imperil the Web’s historic role as an outlet for free expression and economic growth.”

If you are thinking that the statement by the FCC commissioner is really mind-boggling coming, as it is, from a member of an agency of the Obama Regime, then don’t.  Take a breath.  You see, Commissioner McDowell is a George Bush appointee to the FCC.

Telecommunication Union spokesman Gary Fowlie, in an interview with Fox news said:  “(International Telecommunication Union) members do not want heavy-handed regulation,” Fowlie went on to say: “There are no proposals on the table that would impact access to or freedom of the Internet." (SOURCE)

Danny Weitzner, deputy chief technology officer at the White House, is reported to have recently said:  “This multi-stakeholder process -- the process that the Internet community has pioneered in many ways -- I think works based on the fact that people have things they need to do together,” he told the Brookings audience. “It doesn't really work when one people tells someone else what to do. That's kind of the Marx command-and-control model.” (SOURCE)

Look.  It takes no stretch of the imagination to see where the UN is headed with all this. They want to control world wide instant communications between the people of the planet … period.

There was a time, and not so long ago, that in order for there to be a successful revolution or uprising of the people against their government, the rebels absolutely MUST take control of the country’s radio and TV stations. It remains a fact today, that for tinhorn dictators (who still dot the globe) control of broadcast stations and other means of communications -- including the Internet and the print media -- is imperative in order to maintain power over their people.

Just days ago, the world learned that Iran had simply turned off the Internet in that benighted country.  I’m not a technician, so I don’t know how, exactly, you do that, but the mad mullahs of Iran do … and they’ve done it.

Here, in what used to be a free America, we know the government has access to every e-mail we send … not to mention our landline phone calls and our cell phones, as well.  According to Col. Ollie North, the only communications the US government does not read are smoke signals.

The facts of the matter are plain.  It is only a matter of time before there is worldwide regulation of the Internet. The governments of the world, both good and bad, simply cannot allow people all over the globe to communicate with each other at will.  It is far too dangerous to their hold over us. The Internet must be regulated to protect THEM.  It is the same principle as dispersing a crowd of people to avoid a riot.

I submit that if Thomas Paine and Samuel Adams were alive today, they would be burning the Internet up with their rabble-rousing commentaries.  Just as their fiery tomes led to the revolt against Great Britain by her colonies in America, other commentators around the globe are having similar effects upon THEIR totalitarian governments.  THAT is a THREAT and it cannot be allowed to continue.

Sooner, or later, the Internet will be regulated and governed by a single international entity.  Bet on it.

US Should Stay Out of Syrian Mess

US Should Stay Out of Syrian Mess

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

There is every indication the Obama is about to order the US military to take some sort of action against Syria.

It is more of the UN’s policy, which is often referred to as “The Responsibility to Protect.”  And it is taxing America’s treasury and America’s already over-extended military.

Look.  Syria is just another Muslim country that seems never to be quite happy unless it is bleeding -- or causing someone else to bleed. THIS, dear reader is what happens when a people insist on living in the 12th century while the remainder of the world is 9 centuries ahead.

The US does not need another entanglement in the Middle East.  Believe me, we are headed for a regional conflagration in the area that will most certainly involve Syria, anyway.  There’s no point in wasting America’s military resources on another tinhorn dictator – at the moment.

Soon, Israel will take the reins in its teeth and attack Iran and the whole Middle East will blow up – including Syria.

But, I don’t think the US President is receptive to folks who offer common sense.  There is way too much evidenced to the contrary.  So, it is, I believe, only a matter of weeks before US aircraft will be flying missions over Syria.

Consider this from YnetNews.com:

US to announce aerial blockade on Syria'

“The Pentagon is readying for the possibility of intervention in Syria, aiming to halt Syrian President Bashsar Assad's violent crackdown on protesters, the newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported Saturday, citing a US military offical.
According to the official, the intervention scenario calls for the establishment of a buffer zone on the Turkish border, in order to receive Syrian refugees. The Red Cross would then provide the civilians humanitarian aid, before NATO crews would arrive from Turkey and join the efforts.”
The measure would pave the way for the US to declare an aerial blockade on Syria.  (SOURCE)
 So, here we go again!
You would think, by now, the eggheads in Washington and the elite universities would have realized there is no way to save Muslim countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, and Syria from themselves. It simply cannot be done.  They made their choice hundreds of years ago to wallow in their backwards-tribal ways and their “woe-is-me” self-pity and their seething hatred for their fellow humans on this planet who chose to move forward and improve their lot in this life.
I heard a noted journalist ask a question recently in reference to the rioting and killing in Afghanistan.  She asked if this was the thanks the US got for nation building in Afghanistan?  It was intended – I THINK—as a rhetorical question.  I hope so, because the answer is obvious for the entire world to see.
It doesn’t matter a whit if the US stays in the Middle East, rescuing one Muslim country after the other for a hundred years, we will receive NO THANKS, we will continue to be despised and hated -- and they will still slit our throats (or behead us) at every opportunity afforded them.
Obama, it seems, believes he can save them.  It is his messiah complex, don’t you see.
Why, the man is just so darned intelligent that he simple cannot see that he is being made a fool of by a bunch of wily desert and mountain tribesmen who quickly learned how to play him like a violin.
You would think he would be embarrassed – but you would be wrong.  It’s that “messiah” thing, you see.
In the meantime, Mr. Assad of Syria had better get his binoculars polished up and begin watching the skies for Obama’s drones.  On the home front, Americans can be prepared to foot the bills for another American military intervention they neither want nor can afford.

UN Seeks “World Tax” To Fund Global Socialism

UN Seeks “World Tax” To Fund Global Socialism

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

“No one should live below a certain income level,” stated Milos Koterec, President of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. “Everyone should be able to access at least basic health services, primary education, housing, water, sanitation and other essential services.”  (SOURCE)  We recommend that you click on the “source” and read the entire article by Paul Joseph Watson.

Why is the US still a member of the United Nations?  The UN is, in my opinion, the single greatest threat to American freedom and liberty on the planet today … and that’s saying a lot!

The UN has been finagling for decades to construct a global government (a one-world government) and rule over all the peoples of the earth.  National sovereignty be damned.

For the people of the United States it would mean the abrogation of the US Constitution.  Our loyalty would be to the UN -- not to the US Constitution.  UN law would prevail in America, not US law.

The UN has delusions of grandeur.  I mean REAL delusions.  Unfortunately, except for the late US Senator Jesse Helms, of North Carolina, nobody has been willing to stand up and call them on it.

Any attempt to rule the world is destined to end in utter and abject failure. The people of this planet are far too diverse -- and just plain ornery -- to agree to live under one government.  Any attempt to force a one-world government on earth will lead to wars all over the planet.  The earth would be in a constant state of world war.  Any FOOL can see that.

And yet they continue to mold a receptive mindset in the less educated, less sophisticated, and the less fortunate peoples of the earth in order to create a creature so banal, ignorant, weak, and vulnerable as to be completely reliant on them for their very existence.  It is akin to the modus operandi of the Democratic Party in the United States.

And now the UN wants us to pay for it, too!

Once again they are seeking a “World Tax” to fund their global socialism.  It is pure socialism/communism.  Of course,  they want to tax the wealthier countries more than the less wealthy countries.  It other words – it is
redistribution of the wealth or, as we have come to know it … socialism.

A 2010 UN blueprint for putting the organization back at the forefront of global governance alarmingly revealed the agenda to re-brand global warming as “overpopulation” as a means of dismantling the middle classes while using “global redistribution of wealth” and increased immigration to reinvigorate the pursuit of a one world government.”  (SOURCE)

The UN has even put fortha plan under which the west would be mandated to respect “the rights of Mother Earth” by paying a “climate debt” which would act as a slush fund for bankrolling an all-powerful world government.” (SOURCE)

Oh, the utopians will love this idea … until they grow up.  By then, of course, it will be too late -- because the world will already be enslaved.

If the US is the subject of an act of God, and conservatives manage to grasp control of the Congress and the Presidency, then Americans should insist that one of the first acts of the new government should be to pull the United States of America out of the United Nations.

As an American, I am embarrassed that my country is a member in such a corrupt organization.  For good measure, Americans ought to insist that the United Nations move its headquarters to a country more accepting of the UN’s corrupt socialist agenda.

The UN is a festering carbuncle on the posterior of the world. Its stench reaches unto heaven.

By the way:  that “world tax” the UN wants to levy would be  … “a minimal financial transaction tax (of .005 percent). This will create $40 billion in revenue.” (SOURCE)

In a recent report by Olivier De Schutter, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, “Mr. De Schutter blames the free market system for threatening the livelihoods of “peasants, fishers, pastoralists, and indigenous peoples.” He emphasizes “the importance of land redistribution for the realization of the right to food.”   (SOURCE)

De Schutter goes on to say:  Rather than focusing on strengthening the rights of landowners, States should encourage communal ownership systems, strengthen customary land tenure systems and reinforce tenancy laws to improve the protection of land-users…” (SOURCE)

What he is advocating, dear reader, is doing away with private ownership of land and replacing it with collective farms, or socialist communes.  YOU will not be able to own land.  The STATE will own all the land.

The United Nations is a socialist organization and the United States of America has no business even associating with it let alone being a dues paying member.

Global Warming, R.I.P. ... Alan Caruba

Global Warming, R.I.P.
By Alan Caruba

Have you noticed that you rarely hear “global warming” mentioned on radio or television and the term rarely occurs any more in the print media?

One reason is that it has been replaced with “climate change” and the other reason is that the only people talking about climate change seem to be leaders of governments like the United States or Australia.

To borrow a line from Shakespeare, I come to bury global warming, not to praise it.

An early and unrelenting skeptic from the days it first debuted in the late 1980s, I rather instinctively knew that the only warming occurring was the same natural warming that always follows a cooling cycle; in this case the warming that began in 1850 after the Little Ice Age that began around 1300.

It never made sense to me that “industry” should be blamed for pumping massive amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere when the amount of CO2 was a minuscule 0.038 percent with far greater amounts of hydrogen and oxygen that protect the Earth from becoming the galactic equivalent of a toasted marshmallow.

Then, too, like oxygen, all life on Planet Earth is dependent on CO2, a gas that the Environmental Protection Agency is actually calling a “pollutant.” That is so absurd that I was confident people would laugh the whole “theory” out the door when it was first proposed. But that was over two decades ago.

The end didn’t begin until November 2009 and the release of thousands of “Climategate” emails between the meteorologists supplying the bogus data that the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) used to generate the greatest hoax of the modern era.

Not since the discovery of the “Piltdown Man” had so many scientists allowed themselves to be taken in by a complete fabrication; one based entirely on falsified computer model data. Worse still, many climbed on board the global warming bandwagon to reap some of the billions in grant money involved.

The fact that “global warming” was generated by the United Nations should have been the red flag that something was not just wrong about it, but that it hid an agenda aimed at Western industrialized nations.

I think global warming gained credibility as much from the support of the leaders of Western nations as from the great difficulty skeptical scientists encountered in gaining any traction against it. To this day President Obama still prattles on about the need for solar and wind power to replace fossil fuels in order to avoid “climate change” from their use.

The current Prime Minister of Australia is busy trying to impose a carbon tax on that nation. The British have dug themselves a deep hole by embracing windmills instead of coal mines. Billions have been wasted by Spain and Germany on alternative energy sources.

The anti-energy agenda will have devastating affects on life in the West. Electricity consumers in the United Kingdom were recently told by the CEO of the country’s grid operation that, by 2020, they will have to get used to having no electricity for periods during the day and night. This will put the U.K. on par with North Korea. And the U.S. is not far behind if it does not quickly reverse current energy policies.

In the U.S., the leading voice for “global warming” became the former Vice President Al Gore who, following his defeat for the presidency, set about becoming a multimillionaire with all manner of “global warming” projects and enterprises. He would eventually win an Oscar for his documentary and a Nobel Peace Prize that was shared by the IPCC. Today, however, Al Gore is a joke.

The legacy of “global warming” has been the decades-long attack on U.S. energy sources until today our vast resources of coal and oil remain in the ground instead of being available as the price of oil increases due to troubles in the Middle East and the cost of electricity increases due to laws mandating that utilities must buy from wind and solar electricity producers who would be out of business by next week without those government mandates.

The public acceptance of the “global warming” hoax has waned even as the mainstream media has tried to hide the truth. The rise of the Internet has seen to that and other more pressing, real challenges are shoveling dirt onto its grave. 9/11 refocused public attention on a real threat. The 2008 financial crisis still holds the nation in its grip.

And a President whose first two years have generated massive resistance now only occasionally references “climate change.”

The global warming corpse is not quite dead, but dead enough for now. The question is what new fraud will the United Nations and environmental organizations perpetrate? The “acidification” of the world’s oceans? “Species extinction” or “Invasive species”? Be assured, the UN mafia is at work on something.

Creation of Palestinian State Means Eradication of Israel as a Jewish State

Creation of Palestinian State Means Eradication of Israel as a Jewish State
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat has said, “… he did not discuss with American officials the possibility of the Palestinians seeking unilateral declaration of statehood at the UN, though he added he would like to see US support should the Palestinians make such a move.” (SOURCE)

Did you know that the people, erroneously called Palestinians, were offered a state of their own back in the 1930’s? (See the map of the Palestine Mandate to the right. Also go HERE for more information on the Palestine Mandate.)

Look, the plain truth is… the people, calling themselves Palestinians, have been offered a state of their own at least three times since the 1936 Arab revolt. They have flatly turned it down every time! The first offer made by the Peel Commission in the 1930s offered them a vast piece of real estate much larger than that offered to the Jews… and … they turned it down!

UN Resolution 181 passed soon after the Second World War gave Israel 55% of the so-called Palestine and the Palestinians 45%. The Jews accepted and in doing so recognized that Palestine would become a state next door to them. They accepted that. But the Arabs rejected it, flat out, and started another war against the Jews, which they promptly lost.

It has been over 60 years now and the whining and moaning is still coming from the “woe is me” crowd who called themselves Palestinians.

The problems between Israel and the Palestinians are not because Israel has settled some disputed land. No! The cause of all the trouble in that “center of the earth” strip of land is due entirely to the Arabs refusal to accept the existence of a Jewish state called Israel, or called anything else, for that matter. That is the crux of the problem.

“Right of Return” is far more dangerous to The State of Israel than an all out attack by their Arab neighbors. You’re going to hear more and more about the Palestinians demand for a Right of Return.

So what is the Right of Return? “The idea of the right of return is to demand that Israel allow the descendants of the 750,000 Palestinians who were displaced in 1948 and their families (which now stands at almost 4 million) back into Israel and give them full compensation for their troubles. Even if only half of these Palestinians returned, it would alter Israel's identity as a Jewish state and effectively create a second Palestinian state.

One assumption made under the right of return is that the all the Arabs that lived in Israel proper were forcibly expelled from their homes in 1947 and 48. This is a myth. While historians know for a fact that a small number of the 750,000 displaced Arabs were forcibly expelled by Zionist militias (a famous example being Deir Yassin), honest and impartial historians also know that a large number of this 750,000 strong population left on their own, either to avoid an upcoming war between the Zionists and the Arabs, or to join the Arabs in the fighting against the newly established state.” (SOURCE)

“What unites Palestinians has been their opposition to Jewish nationalism and the desire to stamp it out, not aspirations for their own state. Local patriotic feelings are generated only when a non-Islamic entity takes charge - such as Israel did in 1967 after the Six-Day War. It dissipates under Arab rule no matter how distant or despotic, as it was under the rule of Jordan prior to 1967.Culturally, Palestinians are not distinct from other Arabs. The sole contributions Palestinians can take credit for are the invention of skyjacking for political purposes in the 1960s, and lately a special brand of suicidal terrorism that uses their own youth as delivery systems for bombing pizza parlors, discos, and public commuter buses.” (SOURCE)

Obama’s efforts toward a “two-state solution” are doomed to failure. The Palestinians will obfuscate, and delay, and continue to carry on their war to wipe Israel from the face of the map. They will use any means to do it. The most recent threat is to have the UN unilaterally proclaim Palestine a state.

As a conservative, I believe in “peace through victory.” To take that a step farther, I believe we ought to unleash Israel and let them do whatever they find necessary to eradicate the Palestinian problem on their borders.

But, as we view the situation today, we can see that the Obama Regime, and the US State Department, have been “snuckered” again!

If the world truly wants peace in the Middle East, especially that portion we erroneously call Palestine, then get out of the way and allow Israel to take care of business.

“Princeton University professor of Semitic literature Philip Hitti (1886-1978) one of the greatest Arabic historians of the ninth century and author of 'The History of the Arabs,' testifying on behalf of the Arab cause, told the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine in 1946: "There is no 'Palestine ' in history, absolutely not." (SOURCE)

It is revisionist history. Real, honest to goodness “HISTORY,” reveals, as professor Hitti told us, there never was a country named Palestine in the past. If the US were on the right side of this issue it would insure there would be no state of Palestine in the future, either. The fact that the American President certainly appears to favor so-called Palestinian Muslims over the Israelis is just another reason why many feel he should be a one-term President.

The Unilateral Creation of a Palestinian State by the UN?

The Unilateral Creation of a Palestinian State by the UN?
Does the Obama Regime Support UN Creation of Palestinian State?
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

*********************

Palestinian Authority officials say if Israel and the Palestinians fail to reach an agreement to create a Palestinian state, the Obama administration will support a resolution at the United Nations that would unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state (SOURCE).

In a report at World Net Daily, the following is reported: “Last year, Ahmed Qurei, former PA prime minister and member of the Palestine Liberation Organization executive committee, told WND in an interview that the PA "reached an understanding with important elements within the administration" to possibly bring to the U.N. Security Council a resolution to unilaterally create a Palestinian state.

Asked to which "elements" he was referring, Qurei would only say they were from the Obama administration. (SOURCE).

All of this just confirms our worst fears about Obama and his Regime. He is, quite likely, the least prepared President to ever hold office.

You know, I used to wonder if Obama or, at the very least, someone within his regime had actually read the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Now I add to that list of critically important documents nothing less than the Holy Bible. Obama is meddling in a situation that predates the United States of America by thousands of years. Much of the history, which leads up to the problems with Israel and their less than neighborly neighbors, is recorded in the pages of the Bible.

When one does a tiny bit of research, one finds that Israel has a claim to the Holy Land that dates back as far 3,700 years ago. They created a civilization on that terrain and developed a national language, which they have managed to maintain for at least 3,700 years.

Yes, they claim that land and they have a right to it. First, God promised the land to Abraham, then, the Jewish people moved onto to it and began to develop it and they made it their home. The world community saw it -- and recognized Israel as the home of the Jewish people and granted Israel recognition as a sovereign country ON THAT LAND.

So, how did Israel grow to the size it is today? As a result of wars that were perpetrated upon Israel by her mischievous neighbors. Israeli military forces captured the land Israel grew into as they attempted, successfully, to defend their homeland. Now, that land, too, is a part of the nation of Israel.

So what about the name Palestine? In the second century A.D., after crushing the last Jewish revolt, the Romans first applied the name “Palaestina” to Judea. Judea was the southern portion of what we now call the West Bank. It was an attempt, by the Romans, to isolate Jewish identification from the land of Israel.

There was never an independent Arab or Palestinian state in Palestine. It never existed, in all of history. In fact, when the Arab-American historian, Princeton University Prof. Philip Hitti, testified against partition before the Anglo-American Committee in 1946, he said: "There is no such thing as 'Palestine' in history, absolutely not." In fact, Palestine is never explicitly mentioned in the Koran, rather it is called "the holy land.”

Going back to 1937 we learn that “a local Arab leader, Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi, told the Peel Commission, which ultimately suggested the partition of Palestine: "There is no such country [as Palestine]! 'Palestine' is a term the Zionists invented! There is no Palestine in the Bible. Our country was for centuries part of Syria." (SOURCE)

Until, roughly, 1967 the Arabs referred to that piece of ground as “southern Syria. “The representative of the Arab Higher Committee to the United Nations submitted a statement to the General Assembly in May 1947 that said, "Palestine was part of the Province of Syria" and that, "politically, the Arabs of Palestine were not independent in the sense of forming a separate political entity." A few years later, Ahmed Shuqeiri, later the chairman of the PLO, told the Security Council: "It is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but southern Syria." (SOURCE)

One must consider God’s promise to Abraham, the creation of a Jewish homeland with Jewish settlements upon the land as far back as 3,700 years ago -- up to today. Then, one must consider so much more including the Balfour Declaration of 1917; the League of Nations Mandate, which incorporated the Balfour Declaration; the United Nations partition resolution of 1947; and Israel's admission to the UN in 1949. And, finally, add to all of the above the recognition of Israel as a sovereign nation by most of the country’s of the world. I suspect the Israeli Jews would ask that an observer also note their thriving society.

Now, when you consider all of the above, you must ask yourself why anyone would want the people of Israel to give up their ancestral homeland, the land God gave them, to the people of a country that never, in all of history, EVER existed.

Remember, too, that these people, of a fantasy country, want nothing more than to push the Jews off their land and into the sea -- wiping them out of existence.

THAT is where Obama’s policy toward Israel and the so-called Palestinian people will lead.

When all of this is considered -- aren’t we justified in asking if Obama’s ties to the Muslim world are so strong that he has adopted their cause as his -- and pushing the Jews of Israel into the Mediterranean Sea is the desired result for both the so-called Palestinians – and -- for the Obama Regime?

The UN To Take US Guns?

The UN IS COMING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS, AMERICA.
OBAMA LEADS THE UN GUNGRABBER PACK!
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet
********************************************

Back in October of 2009, the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, publicly announced that the US WOULD support UN negotiations of an Arms Trade Treaty to regulate international gun trafficking. The Bush administration, you may remember, and, notably, former Permanent U.S. Representative to the United Nations, John Bolton, opposed negotiations of this treaty for years.

Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton has said: "Conventional arms transfers are a crucial national security concern for the United States, and we have always supported effective action to control the international transfer of arms. The United States is prepared to work hard for a strong international standard in this area."

The US then joined a vote, which was almost unanimous; to adopt a resolution, which would set a schedule, a timetable, on the proposed Arms Trade Treaty. Within that resolution was a proposal to finalize the accord in the year 2012.

Gun Owners in the US are gravely concerned over this move by the UN – and -- more importantly, by the Obama Regime, to support it. To many gun enthusiasts it is a dangerous submission of America's Constitution to “Global Governance” -- and there is a growing belief that it is an attempt by the Obama Regime to create private gun control laws it knows it cannot get through the US Congress. It doesn’t take any imagination, at all, to quickly understand that this treaty would effectively cancel rights granted US citizens by the 2nd amendment to the US Constitution. Our right to “keep and bear arms” would no longer exist.

US gun rights supporters are up in arms – and with good reason. John Bolton, former Permanent U.S. Representative to the United Nations, fought the proposed treaty for quite a while. He has seen it up close and personally. Bolton, in remarks he made recently to Ginny Simone, managing editor of the National Rifle Associations' NRA News and host of the NRA's Daily News program, said the following: "The administration is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nation states, but there's no doubt – as was the case back over a decade ago – that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control."

Bolton continued: "There's never been any doubt when these groups talk about saying they only want to prohibit illicit international trafficking in small arms and light weapons, it begs the whole question of what's legal and what's not legal. And many of the implications of these treaty negotiations are very much in their domestic application. So, whatever the appearance on the surface, there's no doubt that domestic firearm control is right at the top of their agenda."

Bolton went on to say: "After the treaty is approved and it comes into force, you will find out that it has this implication or that implication and it requires the Congress to adopt some measure that restricts ownership of firearms," he said. "The administration knows it cannot obtain this kind of legislation purely in a domestic context … They will use an international agreement as an excuse to get domestically what they couldn't otherwise."

It turns out there are some seven countries pushing the UN Arms Treaty, Great Britain, Australia, Argentina, Costa Rica, Finland, Japan, and Kenya.

Interestingly, Great Britain has had a virtual explosion of violent crime since they all but banned guns back in 1997. Just a few months ago, the British press reported that England and Wales now have the highest violent crime in the European Union – a rate which, in fact, exceeds that of the United States and even hyper-violent South Africa. Mailonline reported: “In the decade following (the election of the Labor Party) in 1997, the number of recorded violent attacks soared by 77 percent to 1.158 million – more than two every minute.”

It seems that Great Britain, with their near ban of gun ownership by private citizens, has a violent crime victimization rate of 2,034 per 100,000 residents. While here, in the, oh, so violent, USA, with our far less restrictive gun laws, we have a violence rate of only 466 crimes per 100,000 residents. Even South Africa’s rate is lower, at 1,677 violent crimes per 100,000. You can read an exceptional article on this subject HERE.
In the land “down under,” Australia, the Aussies are suffering an escalation in violent crimes as well. The Australia Institute of Criminology reports that assault alone occurs at a rate of 840 per 100,000 – a rate that increased dramatically since the Port Arthur ban.

You might find it interesting what the Aussies have to put up with now that firearms are nearly banned in their fair land. It is, indeed, a warning for their cousins, the Americans. “The Manly Daily” reported, back in October of 2009, that pursuant to the Australian Firearms Act of 1996:

“Northern Beaches Police will be turning up on the doorstep of every licensed gun owner in the area over the next four years to check their firearms are stored correctly.
Operation Aston follows the gun amnesty that ended on May 31 and will target guns stored incorrectly and the security of gun safes, Northern Beaches Commander Doreen Cruickshank said.

“Gun owners have a responsibility to ensure their weapon is safely stored at all times when not in use,” Supt Cruickshank said.
“Licensing police will be attending the home of every licensed firearm owner in the northern beaches over the next four years to inspect every weapon and check the gun safe.

“Officers will be examining all gun safes to ensure they comply with the legislative requirements, particularly in relation to the standard and security of safes.”
Supt Cruickshank reminded all legitimate owners that under the Firearms Act they must take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safekeeping of their firearms.

“It’s especially important that weapons are stored in such a way as to limit the possibility of loss or theft, so they don’t come into the possession of a person who isn’t authorized to hold them,” she said.

The maximum penalty for incorrect storage of a weapon is two years in jail. (You may read the article HERE. )

You might be interested to know this, as well: In Australia, for every firearm, a purchaser must obtain a Permit To Acquire. The first permit for each person has a mandatory 28 day delay before it is issued. In some states, such as Queensland, this is waived for second and subsequent firearms of the same class, whilst in others, it is not. For each firearm a "Genuine Reason" must be given, relating to pest control, hunting, target shooting, or collecting. Self-defense is not accepted as a reason for issuing a license.
THIS is where America is headed if the “gungrabbers” get their “reasonable gun control” laws. They know they cannot get those laws passed through CongressTODAY -- but they have an excellent chance to get them through the UN Arms Trade Treaty.

Baby, It's Cold Outside! ... by Alan Caruba

Baby, It’s Cold Outside
By Alan Caruba
*********************

One of the great ironies of the Climate Change Conference taking place in Copenhagen is that its focus is on “global warming” at a time when Planet Earth has been in a cooling cycle for the passed decade.

That fact alone is testimony to another one; the United Nations conference has nothing to do with the climate and everything to do with a binding treaty that would ultimately transfer power from the individual sovereign nations whose representatives are attending to centralized governance by unelected bureaucrats.

Just as Communism concentrates all power in the “State” and relegates its citizens to “property” of the state, the UN Climate Change program would subjugate entire nations in the name of “saving the Earth.” It needs saving, but not from a fraudulent “global warming”. The present greatest danger to mankind is the various power centers represented by the delegates to the conference.

There is, however, another danger and it is the climate; not a warming one, but one that is at the tail end of the latest interglacial period between ice ages. The last ice age ended about 11,500 years ago, though some argue it was only 10,000 years.

The late Dr. Theodore Landscheidt, founder of the Schroeter Institute for Research in Cycles of Solar Activity in Waldmuenchen, Germany, was a giant in the field of climatology. This science looks at climate trends in terms of millions or thousands of years.

Before his passing in 2004, Dr. Landscheidt predicted a new Little Ice Age similar to what the northern hemisphere experienced from around 1300 to 1850. He based this on an analysis of the sun’s activity in the last two millennia and he believed it would arrive by 2030. Meteorologists are in general agreement that the current cooling cycle will continue for another two decades. Thereafter it gets really cold!

Meteorology is about the weather that is occurring now and predicting what that weather will be in the near future. As we know, even short range predictions of a few days are subject to variations. Modern meteorology depends on computer climate models, but none can factor in the role of clouds on the weather because they remain a mystery. Other unknown factors include countless active undersea volcanoes.

The Sun, however, can and is closely monitored and, since it is the primary source of warming and cooling cycles, predictions can be made. Dr. Landscheidt wrote, “The current 11-year sunspot cycle 23 with its considerably weaker activity seems to be a first indication of the new trend.”

Winter will grow colder and last longer. By 2030, people in the northern hemisphere will experience what occurred between 1300 and 1850. History is filled with examples from the devastation of Napoleon’s army when he invaded Russia to Valley Forge in America. In England, the Thames froze over.

My friend, Robert W. Felix, the author of “Not by Fire, but by Ice” and editor of the Internet site, http://www.iceagenow.com/, has been predicting not just a Little Ice Age, but a full-fledged Ice Age that occurred about a million or more years ago and did not end until about 10,000 years ago.

“We’re beginning to realize,” Felix wrote, “that earth is a violent and dangerous place to live. We’re beginning to realize that mass extinctions have been the rule, rather than the exception, for the 3.5 billion years that life has existed on this planet.”

Civilization as we know it is relatively new. Homo sapiens, humans, began their dominance around 10,000 years ago and the development of agriculture and other aspects of modern civilization are only about 5,000 years old. When you stack that up against vast epochs, it is a historical blip on the radar screen. Not that long ago in America, the only means of transportation were horses.

What is occurring in Copenhagen is an obscenity. The fact that the President of the United States and other world leaders would attend and endorse its lies calls out for a massive repudiation.

The “science” on which it is based has been revealed to have been deliberately falsified by the Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia and we may yet confirm that even NASA’s and NOAA’s data was inaccurate as well.

As the White House and Congress try to impose a “Cap-and-Trade” bill, a huge tax on all energy use, on Americans, what scientists have been trying to explain for years is that no evidence exists that carbon dioxide (CO2) effects global temperature.

This puts the lie to the Environmental Protection Agency’s announcement that it intends to regulate CO2 emissions in order to avoid a global warming that is not happening or that CO2 poses a health risk. We are witnessing gangsterism masquerading as regulation.

There isn’t even evidence that CO2 is a so-called “greenhouse gas” or that a greenhouse effect even exists. There is no evidence that the seas are rising at an alarming rate or that glaciers and polar caps are melting.

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the sponsor of the Copenhagen conference, should be disbanded for being nothing more than a political instrument intended to coordinate a massive international fraud. All U.S. legislation based on “global warming” or “greenhouse gas emissions” should be repealed.

The worldwide mass media’s self-inflicted damage to its credibility requires a major effort to report the actual science and prepare the Earth’s population for some ugly consequences of the cooling that is occurring and is likely to accelerate in the decades immediately ahead.

It’s going to get colder and all the lies flowing from a morally debased United Nations will not change that.

The United Democratic Nations?

The United "Democratic" Nations?
A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

*******************************

The United Nations has become so corrupt and, so anti-American, the United States can no longer remain a member. Any chance to save the UN, as a viable mediator of disputes in the world, has completely disappeared. Their graft, and corruption, has taken away the last leg they were leaning on. It is now a hollow shell of what it was supposed to be, indeed, what it was created to be. It never quite reached the grand plateau of respectability envisioned for it by its creators.

The United Nations is a flop. Worse… it is a caricature of the organization it should be and… could have been. The United nations seems occupied, these days, with one thing, and one thing only, and that is -- the advent of global governance -- a "One World Government." Guess which organization will be the government of thatg "One World?" You've got it! the UN. The US must get out. To preserve itself, and its constitution, Americans have no choice but to demand the United States government pull out of the United Nations. If, in fact, we find a world forum is needed to fill the void left by the decomposing UN, then we should found a new one… one that reflects the hallmark of truly democratic countries.

Enter the United Democratic Nations. (The UDN.)

Let the world see the US, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, Israel, New Zealand, just to name a few of the democratic nations inside the US orbit, conceive and give birth to a world body of nations to carry out the mandate once given to the United Nations and spurned so horribly by them.

It is only a matter of time until an organization, such as the UDN, is established.

Oh, it was not a mistake, by this author, to be so obvious in overlooking France and Germany, and Russia and the other European Socialist Democracies. They have decided to go their own way, refusing to believe there is anyone else on the globe worthy of their respect. France and Germany have the shortest memories in the history of the planet. Or, is it a huge inferiority complex. Whatever their problem, they no longer deserve to be shielded by the truly western democracies and we should make it plain that membership in the UDN will not be extended to them. They are own their own… to fend for themselves.

If history is any is any indication of their destiny, they will soon be at each other’s throats again. History has taught us that as soon as the US leaves "The Continent" they begin to squabble with each other, pick fights that turn into wars that set the globe ablaze in WORLD WARS. Their vanity and arrogance is exceeded only by their utter lack of common sense.

Yes, we will have a bi-polar world again. East and West. There will soon be a diplomatic slugfest to determine the leader of the Eastern Block and that will soon be Russia, not France, as France supposes. The French entitlement to leadership is in THEIR minds ONLY.

So, bring on the UDN, if we must, and the sooner the better. Let us commit the United Nations to the ash heap of history where it belongs. That dream turned into a nightmare. It is time to wake up, from it, and get on with handling the problems of the real world.
