Tighter Borders, Smaller Government, and Lower Taxes= Fred Thompson !

Tighter Borders, Smaller Government, and Lower Taxes = Fred Thompson!

*************************
One of the jokes floating around these days says that “Fred Thompson glared at the Mexican border and illegal immigration stopped for a whole month!” Well, he CAN
glare!

Let’s understand something straightaway. We Conservatives are not looking at Fred Thompson as another Ronald Reagan, as we are being accused of by the Leftists. No, it’s unfortunate, but Reagan was one of a kind. There will never be another. However, what he stood for has been, is now, and always will be, the core belief of the Conservative movement in America. What we are being sold now as the “new conservatism” in Washington DC, and by the GOP in particular, is BUNK! It is a lot of things but it is not conservatism in any form. And the plain truth is, we Conservatives want none of it.

The GOP has fielded a covey of candidates who are either too weak to carry a national ballot, or, are moderates and liberals. The front-runners, at the moment, are “knock-off democrats”, plain and simply. In fact, there are a number of democrats more conservative than McCain, Giuliani, or Romney! (Zell Miller for instance!)

Now comes Fred Thompson, a conservative. A real conservative. Where do you think the conservative movement in America will place its support? You’ve got it!

Understand, Thompson is not as conservative as I, personally, would like. But he beats the GOP field by a mile! Many conservatives have already decided to sit the ’08 election out, if a Conservative is not the candidate of the Republican Party. I WILL vote, but it will be a write-in … and I will write-in a conservative’s name.

Thompson is slowly and methodically making preparations to join the fight. If rumors can be believed, July 4th will be the day of the official announcement. If so, the entire dynamics of the 2008 election will change instantly. Passion will enter the campaign in the form of conservatives from the right. The heat will be turned up considerably. So far we have hung back because we had no horse in the race. Once Thompson enters… that changes. We will become engaged.

Once again we will hear strong voices, from the right, declaring we must tighten the borders, lower taxes, make the government smaller. The mantra of: pro-life, pro-gun, pro-family, pro-military will be heard again, in the land, instead of the mealy-mouth platitudes we have been receiving from our “so-called leaders” in the GOP.

Look, the plain and simple truth is: Mrs. Bill Clinton will be the 2008 Democrat Candidate for President. She will have a socialist agenda. Most likely Barack Obama will be her vice-presidential candidate. That is certainly the way it is stacking up today.

The GOP is dead in the water with any of the candidates now in the field. One reason the GOP is floundering… the lack of support from the conservative movement on the right. The RNC doesn’t like to admit that… but there it is. They cannot win without us!

Finally, when this presidential election is done, no matter how it shakes out, the Conservative Movement in America seriously needs to find another home. It should be well known by now that the GOP does not welcome us.

I have called for the formation of a Conservative Party, as such, and with THAT name! The Republican Party is going the way of the Whigs. It’s over, save for the last gasps. Now is the time for Conservatives to create a new home. A home “By Conservatives, For Conservatives and Of Conservatives”! I’m tired of being the red-headed-step-child of the Republican Party!

In the meantime, support the Conservative candidates. Thompson is a conservative candidate!

The Demise of the Republican... by Alan Caruba

The Demise of the Republican Party

By Alan Caruba

******************
The firestorm of public outcry against the proposed immigration bill is testimony enough that the Senate and the House need to be reminded that selling out the nation is a very bad idea. There are very good reasons why nations have borders.

The bill is just one more way the Republican Party demonstrated that it has been steadily abandoning its fundamental principles. In essence, the Party has stood for sovereignty, the free market, fiscal prudence, private property, and small government. It was a party that historically has been reluctant to be drawn into foreign wars.

In his new book, “The Invasion of the Party Snatchers”, Victor Gold who was a press aide to Barry Goldwater and a speechwriter in George H.W. Bush’s administration, recalled the Republican rejection of Woodrow Wilson’s League of Nations treaty in 1919. Gold reminds us that the party did not see the nation as “peace-keeper for the planet” because it saw that hubris as “the road to imperial ruin and war without end.”
Regarding George W. Bush’s pre-emptive war, Gold noted that, “…as to committing American troops to battle overseas, until George H.W. Bush ordered the invasion of Iraq in 1991, no Republican president since William McKinley in 1898 had initiated a war; nor, until Richard Nixon in 1969, had any Republican president opted to carry on a war initiated by a Democratic president.”

Gold’s book is a scathing look at the depths to which the present Republican Party has fallen and the way George W. Bush and his Vice President, Dick Cheney, have come to represent everything that Republicans have fought against from the days when Lincoln first led the party.

Gold makes no bones about it. He wants the present GOP to die so it can be born again to its former principles. The elections of 2008 are likely to bring out masses of Democrats who feel rejuvenated by the failures and missteps of the White House and the GOP. The recently reported falloff of financial support for the GOP, estimated to be as high as forty percent, might actually suggest they’re doing something wrong.

More than a few Republicans who simply do not want to live in an America that intrudes into the most private decisions of people’s lives, that throws overboard the Constitutional protections of privacy, judicial protections, and whose elected representatives have engaged in an orgy of spending, are desperately seeking real conservative leadership.

So far, however, the Republican candidate debates have more nearly resembled “The Weakest Link” than any promise of a strong commitment to conservative principles.

America has had its political dynasties, the Adams and the Roosevelt’s, but they have been few and I think most Americans are wary of more Clintons. They are not likely to want any more Bushes after the last six years of the President’s rejection of everything for which the Republican Party has stood.

The President has been utterly indifferent to the invasion of millions of Mexicans and others who have illegally crossed our borders, placing all manner of burdens on native born and naturalized Americans. He has made it known that he is eager to sign the proposed immigration “reform” law. This is a security and sovereignty issue of major proportions and it is a total sell-out whether it’s Democrats or Republicans voting for it.

As yet little known to the general public, the President has advocated a “North American Union” that would eliminate the sovereignty of the United States, melding it with Canada and Mexico, to be run by bureaucrats along the lines of the European Union. Its official name is the “Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America” and it offers neither. This non-treaty’s staff is zealously pursuing this, squirreled away in the Department of Commerce, far from the Congressional oversight needed to thwart its “harmonizing” efforts to change our trade and other regulations.

Bush has also turned to the Dark Green side, endorsing the utterly bogus “climate change” agenda that involves reducing “greenhouse gas” emissions. The fact that 95% or more of greenhouse gases consist of water vapor continues to be unreported and ignored by those who want to destroy the economies of industrial nations with “cap-and-trade” schemes. Global warming? It’s the Sun. Get over it!

In the area of fiscal prudence, the GOP seems to have lost its wits. Looking back over his two terms in office, with the support of the Republican Party the President never vetoed a single spending bill in six years until the most recent one that put a timeline on further military engagement in Iraq. Despite efforts to address the vast default that awaits Social Security, the GOP added a prescription program to the bloated Medicare program.

The President’s selection of Harriet Myers as a Supreme Court nominee and then of Alberto Gonzalez as Attorney General were suspect in the court of public opinion; the former withdrawing from consideration, the latter subject to much criticism. His two Supreme Court choices, Roberts and Alito, however, are a counter-balance of good judgment.

Gold reflects the widespread feeling that elected Republicans no longer have any regard for the voters. “I’d just like to know there were still Republican senators around who didn’t think of the people who elected them as knuckle-walking Pleistocene morons.” This can, of course, be extended to Democrats as well.

Gold warns that what has been passed off as a new kind of conservative politics under the aegis of the neo-cons and the pressures of evangelical groups is “merely a recycled model of the old Liberal politics that led to the decline and fall of the Democratic Party in the 1960s.”

We are left to wonder how long it will take for those who regard themselves as Republicans to desert today’s GOP, mostly by refusing to vote for its candidates, while waiting for new leadership to replace those that have eviscerated it.

Alan Caruba writes a weekly column, “Warning Signs”, posted on the Internet site of The National Anxiety Center, http://www.anxietycenter.com/. His book, “Right Answers: Separating Fact from Fantasy”, is published by Merril Press.

The Designated Killing Field of Iraq
************
My regional newspaper dutifully, and regularly, publishes the number of American casualties in the paper, in a darkened box, to draw attention to it. (Have I ever mentioned that the New York Times owns my regional paper? That should tell you all you need to know about the bias of my regional newspaper.)

I have not, to my recollection, nor to my knowledge, ever seen a report on the Iraqi causalities, nor the causalities of the insurgents!

I mean, hey, we pay our troops to “kill people and break things”. That’s what they are supposed to do! Yet, we are asked, by the American press, to accept that nearly 4,000 American troops have been killed without knowing how much death they visited upon the enemy before they, themselves, were killed.

Ghoulish? Well, it’s not meant to be. It IS meant to draw your attention to a fact little noticed in the Mainstream Media. And that is that American troops are piling up the bodies of the enemy in Iraq! And that is great! That is what they are trained, and paid, to do! Plus, the more they kill there, the less we will have to fight here!

I saw some estimates that as many as 30,000 to 40,000 Iraqis were killed in the invasion. That was way back in 2003. How many since then? I have no idea. But, I’ll bet you it is a huge number.

Ok, time for the scorecard:

The only figures I have are those from the most recent newspaper for American troops, and those from 2003 for the Iraqis… so, here goes!

Americans….dead: 4,000

Iraqis (including insurgents)… dead: 40,000

Anybody see the rather wide gap here? I mean one wins wars by killing as many of the enemy as one can. So, looking at those, admittedly, outdated figures one can clearly see that our troops are doing the job they were sent over there to do!

I may find myself at odds with the President over the way the war is being handled in Iraq today, and I do. I think we need to be far more aggressive than we are and we need to forget about rebuilding Iraq. Allow the destruction of their country to be a part of the payment they must live with for aligning themselves with terrorists.

On the other hand, I do not disagree with the “unstated reason” for invading Iraq… which, I believe, was to create a “killing field” in the Middle East for the sole purpose of drawing in as many of the Islamofacists as we possibly could… and killing them. I think that is justification enough for the war.

Don’t expect any of our national politicians to tell what I just did. They are much too timid. Yes, Iraq IS a designated “Killing Field”. And we haven’t killed nearly enough Islamofacists… yet.

In my estimation, bringing the troops out now, or anytime within the next generation, will be far too soon. The “War on Terror” has only just begun.

Unfortunately, there are far too many of our national leaders, and “would-be- national-leaders” too frightened to admit that the War on Terror even exists! They’d prefer a criminal justice issue. The problem is, the War on Terror is far too vast for any Criminal Justice System to handle it, or even approach anything like a “good job” at taking the terrorists off the streets. But, by continually pointing out the numbers of American troops killed in the war and never mentioning the vast numbers of the enemy those soldiers have managed to neutralize by taking their lives, they have thrown up a façade which obscures the realities of the war. That façade makes it easier for them to make their case that a War on Terror does not exist. And what is even more troubling is that so many weak-minded Americans have bought into that propaganda.

There is nothing quite so pitiful as a great nation fumbling about in weakness… and nothing so inviting to our enemies, either. The limp wristed Congress, now under leftist control, has inspired our ancient enemy, Russia, to, once again, thumb her nose at us… with impunity.

I suppose I’m an anachronism. A throwback, if you will, to a time when Americans, especially Americans from my part of the continent, would fight the fiercest when all hope was gone. My ancestors fought to their deaths for the honor of defending their family and their country. They lost… with honor. There is NOTHING honorable about what our government is trying to do to the men and women of the US Armed Forces serving in Iraq today.

It is dishonorably… and it is disgusting!

Conservatives Have no Candidate as America Continues Her Decline

(This Article first ran in February 2006!)

******************************

Conservatives Have No Candidate as America continues her Decline!

*******************************
I’m a conservative. That comes first BEFORE my political party.

Having said that… I ask myself… why is Rudy Giuliani running for President? Now, lets be crystal clear about this… Rudy has about as much chance of winning the Presidency as I do of rolling a snowball clear across hell in the middle of August! The same thing goes for Romney and McCain.

The thing is… I like Rudy… but… I won’t vote for him! I can’t. Look, Rudy has way too many millstones hanging around his neck for Southerners to support him. He’s pro-choice, pro-gay, pro-gun control, married three times, he’s from the northeast, and NOBODY down here has a name like Giuliani! We’re Scot-Irish and German. Well, the bulk of us are, anyway.

Looking at Romney, he hasn’t a prayer of getting the Southern vote. He’s Mormon. The fundamentalists still think of the Mormon Church is a cult. Some suggest it is not even a Christian cult. I have a Mormon temple some 1/2-mile from where I am sitting as I write this. Then… there is the fact that he is a northeastern conservative, which equates with a Southern liberal! What you folks in the northeastern part of US think of as a conservative, down here, they are a flat-out liberal. That’s where Romney is pigeonholed. And, then he is from the Northeast. There is still a lot of bitter feelings toward the northeastern states, down south, over the recent unpleasantness called the Civil War. Some of the worst atrocities committed upon the people of the South were from northeasterners. I mean… it’s only been 143 years! That’s not nearly enough time for Southerners to get over their dislike, and distrust, of northeasterners.

Now McCain: What’s left to say. He’s unelectable. Period! His birthday is August 29th, 1936. (I looked it up.) Should he win the election, he would be 72 years old on Inauguration Day. 4 years later he’d be 76 years old. Add another 4 years and … well… you can do the math.
Add to that the fact that many conservatives have not forgotten the rumors from 2000 that intimated McCain might be mentally unstable. That is a HUGE no-no!

And then there is his remark about the Confederate Battle Flag and my native state of South Carolina. He would not have angered Southerners as much had he spat in our faces!

I have to assume you can see the problem the GOP is going to have getting a candidate to first base in the South. It makes no difference if the GOP candidate wins the primaries, he will lose in the General Election without the support of the Southern states. Don’t think so? Ask John Kerry!
And then there is Newt! If Newt wants to be President, he’d better say so. This pussyfooting around about announcing, or NOT announcing, as a candidate for the Presidency, has gotten old, quickly! We want to know, and we want to know NOW. Newt can carry the South. The North, northeast, and the West will certainly NOT vote for him, so it would be a near thing. But the fact of the matter is… Newt will make a better showing, even if he loses, than will any of the other announced GOP candidates.

Conservatives have begun to place their (our) hope on a Fred Thompson candidacy. Fred is a Southern Conservative and has the best chance of carrying the South in November of 08. And, frankly, so far, he is the ONLY light at the end of the Conservative’s tunnel!

I have lived a fairly long time. I have NEVER experienced a disconnect with the American public as wide, and pronounced, as the disconnect between the current Presidential Administration and the US Congress and the Citizens of the United States.

It has become apparent, since last November, that the GOP, and the RNC, have learned nothing from the old fashioned “ass-whooping” they took. Those who voted did so not so much FOR the Democrats as AGAINST Republicans. Conservatives on the Internet had been telling the GOP that Conservatives were not going to support them in November of 2006. They failed to listen… and it cost them their majority in Congress. Now, I’m here to tell you that unless the GOP listens now, about the presidential candidates, the GOP is going to LOSE the office of President to the Democrats next year! Probably to the Hillary/Obama ticket.

As eventually happens to all great Republics, America has reached her Zenith and is today in a state of decline. Our best days are behind us. Diversity, Tolerance, Multiculturalism, Political Correctness, and the Feminization of the country acted together to assassinate the once great, and once powerful, United States of America. You may disagree. It doesn’t matter. It remains the truth whether you choose to believe it or not. In fact America’s loss of the ability to look at itself in the mirror and make the necessary corrections for fear of offending some other country, some other race, some other religion, etc, was, and is, the decay which ate away the county’s spine. It neutered America.

Our two major political parties have offered us nothing to choose from but mediocre candidates for so long we began to accept mediocrity as the norm. But then our political parties have grown so close that it is difficult to tell one from the other, anymore.

Not to worry! We’ll have a new government before too long. Mosques on every corner, Minarets gracing the skyline of our towns and cities will soon be the New Muslim America.

When history is re-written this time, no vestiges of what was once the “shining city on a hill” will remain. America will not even be a memory.

Americans no longer care. Since the 1960’s it has just gotten to be too difficult to maintain Freedom. We have two generations now who have little or no knowledge of who they, as Americans are. They have lost their identity. They don’t know they owe allegiance to America and, as a result, they show none. The only state supported church in the country; “The Public Schools”, unfortunately, teaches that America is “just another country” and has very little value. Its ONLY value is as a member of the globalist community. The US Constitution is now second to the UN.

If you have ever seen a once powerful, muscular, man eaten away by cancer, that is the America of today.

Conservatives in America offer the only hope of a recovery. And those same conservatives have been marginalized by America’s lack of will power. The political party, which was home to those who could save America, no longer wants them… or their council.

Our enemies gather and wait. It has become a deathwatch… and they know it. America, herself, is in deep denial.

Subconsciously, Americans have decided that slavery is much preferable to freedom. Slavery requires nothing, much. The slavemaster takes care of everything.

Move over Rome! America is joining you on the Ash Heap of History!

Are We Importing Slaves, or Serfs, by Continuing to Allow the Flood of Illegal Immigration?

Are We Importing Slaves, or Serfs, by Continuing to Allow the Flood of Illegal Immigration?

********************
Is it just me… or has anyone else noticed the Mainstream Media seems to have dropped the word “illegal” when writing a story about illegal immigrants. I have noticed that the MsM is referring to them as strictly “immigrants”, not “illegal immigrants” as they actually are. Now, this is not surprising to those of us who have been a part of the media, and been media watchers, for a few decades.

It is depressing, however, to note that the media, so many American receive their information from, is so utterly biased. It’s not so much that I am concerned over their bias, as I am concerned because they continue to lie about it and swear there is no bias in their reporting.

The New York Times owns my own regional newspaper. Now, one would expect it to be biased toward the left of the political spectrum … and one would be correct. It is slightly to the left of the old Soviet Union tome, “Pravda”. But, will they admit it, heck no! But there it is, everyday, in black and white, for everyone to see.

The broadcast networks are much the same way. Their choice of words and choice of video, and photos, gets their bias passed on to their viewers in a nice neat bundle. Frankly, Fox News Channel is the only truly Conservative network on TV in America. Yet, they will not admit it, either. I would much prefer that newspaper place a huge “L” or a huge “R”, in a circle, toward the top of their front pages to denote what their political bias is. That would tell me all I really need to know. If Fox News Channel would drop the “Fair and Balanced” logo and just say something like: “Your source for the Conservative view of the news”, I would be much happier with them.

Ok, so I am dreaming, and NO, I won’t hold my breath until that happens.

May I suggest you alert your children to the propaganda they will be facing daily as they grow up. Introduce them to a live broadcast of a conservative speaking on TV. Then have them watch the anchor’s analysis of what that conservative said. That will open their eyes!

Many years ago, I had my, then teen-age, daughter view a Reagan speech with me and then view the broadcast network anchor’s analysis of what President Reagan said. My daughter turned to me, her eyes wide, and said, “Daddy, that is NOT what the President said”! I smiled and remarked that she now knew what propaganda was and what left wing bias looked, and sounded like, in the Main Stream Media in America. She is now a medical professional woman with a couple of degrees, a husband and two small children, and she has never forgotten that important lesson.

We have a culture in this country, which has been molded by the media into a culture of mediocrity. We no longer strive for the best in ourselves. Why? Because we have been told, and taught, by the media that being “average” is good enough! The sad truth is… average nations don’t last long!

Look, this nation is only 231 years old! In the grand scheme of things including the history of nations on this globe, the US is still a child, having not reached puberty yet. And already we are on a downward slide into obscurity, or as Reagan called it the “dust bin of history”. Liberalism has stripped the dignity of self-dependence and hard world from us and made us into a socialist welfare state. Welfare states never, I repeat never, make their mark on world history. They are, forever, simply a note in the margins of history. That is where we are headed and our national leaders are more than happy to grease the skids with their “National Nanny” schemes.

And now the US is importing a slave culture, or a “serf" culture (if that is more acceptable to your sensitivities). The Mexicans, the Latinos, have become the lowest class in America… and we are actually importing them by allowing them to cross illegally into our territory. By doing this we are once again demonstrating our national government’s approval of slavery. (Call it Serfdom if it makes you feel better.)

"But, Longstreet", you say, "you are being too harsh calling the importation of illegal labor “slavery”!"

Oh, am I? Gee. The truth hurts, doesn’t it? Hey, I’m a conservative and conservatism deals in reality, not Nirvana.

We are importing a ready-made underclass, which will become wards of the government as soon as they cross into US territory. Being a ward of the government means two things: You and I will have to support them and take care of their needs, and it also means… the liberal government will guarantee the wards pay them back for all this national largesse by keeping them in office with their votes!

Beginning to see the big picture here?

Look, it boils down to this: the GOP wants the cheap labor and the Dems want the cheap votes! That is the bottom line. Always follow the money!

As the US still pays for the last batch of slaves we brought into the country, you’d have thought we learned something. Apparently not!
