By now, you surely know that by 2014 you will not be able to purchase a single incandescent light bulb in America. Unless you wish to have your house unlighted, you WILL use fluorescent light bulbs… or… candles, or… oil lamps, or… well, sit around in the dark… as you watch TV.

This is now a law, mandated by Congress, and signed into law by the President. It is a perfect example of “knee-jerk law making” by Congress.

Well, Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, of Minnesota, has introduced a bill titled the "Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act.” I am not kidding! (Only in America!)

If you tarried long enough to read some of the comments to this piece, you will not be surprized at the “nutzo” comments by some of the “lefties” upset that anyone would question Global Warming, saving the planet, or the government’s good judgement in decideing such things as what we drive, eat, and/or light our homes with. Right away, you see the socialist/communist heart of the “Green” movement worldwide. How dare you, or I, question their good intentions, or their wisdom! They know better than you what is best for you!

Have you tried the compact flourescent light bulbs? Oh… ho…ho…! First off… be preprared for the price. A one hundred watt compact florescent bulb, where I live, is around 6 to 8 dollars (US) per bulb. A 150 watt flourescent bulb is around 10 dollars (US) a bulb. Any size lower than a 100 watt flourescent bulb and you’ll do about as well, so far as actual light… candlepower… (lumens?) is concerned, with a flashlight!

A few months ago, I put them in my den. They lasted about two weeks before my wife and I decided the experiment had failed and we removed them and went to a 150 watt incandescent light bulb in our shared reading lamp.

A suppose you have heard the compact flourescent bulbs contain mercury, right? The stuff is poison… right? I suppose you have heard that if you break one you must immediately leave the room, for a minimum of twenty minutes, and you may have to replace your carpet, and other such items, to rid the room of mercury. Plus, they have to be disposed of as a hazardous material… etc, etc. All of these drawbacks should have been considered BEFORE the lefty/loonie Congress decided you and I would be better off with the more expensive, less efficient, not to mention… poison, compact flourescent light bulbs to light our homes than the dirt cheap, extremely efficient at what it does (provide light), incandescent light bulbs we have been using… for what… a hundred years(?)!

I will be writing my Congressman, and my Senators, and I will be asking them to support Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s “Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act”. It’s time to shed a little light on common sense in Washington, DC.

Having betrayed Republicans on all other key issues from education to immigration, the announcement that George W. Bush intends to introduce global warming legislation should come as no surprise.

The Washington Times on Monday reports that, “President Bush is poised to change course and announce as early as this week that he wants Congress to pass a bill to combat global warming, and will lay out principles for what that should include.”

So, having defeated Al Gore in what the Democrats still insist was a stolen election, we have come full circle to George W. introducing legislation to lock into place the bogus theory of global warming, insuring that, as the Earth gives every sign of entering a cooling cycle, we shall continue to destroy the economy by reducing “greenhouse gas” emissions.

Republican members of Congress, briefed last week, told the administration that they thought the White House was making a mistake. You think?

The reason given for the proposed legislation is to head off what the White House and a lot of others believe will be “a regulatory disaster” as the environmentalists pursue a policy of limiting carbon dioxide (CO2) and other so-called greenhouse gases from being released into the atmosphere.

Never mind that CO2 constitutes barely 0.038 percent of the atmosphere and that CO2 does not precede a climate change, but follows it, the actual science is of no concern to either the White House or the Greens.

Apparently, the science meant nothing to the Supreme Court that ruled last year that CO2 was a form of “pollution” that should be controlled by the Environmental Protection Agency. That “pollution” is responsible for every blade of grass, every tree, and every form of vegetation on the Earth. This isn’t just stupidity, it’s suicidal.

This announcement comes one week before Earth Day on April 22 and we are all going to be awash in environmental propaganda. An army of Greens will hold all manner of Earth Day events and the mainstream media will inundate us all with the usual lies about everything from global warming to endangered species. Being politicians, the White House sees an opportunity to “position” itself on the side of the movement that has been doing everything in its power to undermine the economy.

In addition, whatever the legislation may be, it ignores the fact that neither China with its billion-plus population, India with its billion-plus population, and all other developing nations are exempt from any limits on CO2. There is no logical way to limit CO2 unless all the other nations of the world join in and even Europe, whose nations all signed the Kyoto Protocol, has never met the limits set. And never will.

George W. Bush has finally mutated into George W. Gore, surrendering to the environmental movement’s lies instead of fighting the avalanche of current legislation and that which will follow if the Democrats take control of the White House and increases their control of Congress after the next elections.

American youth, are you ready for the return of the military draft in America? Tough… because that’s where we are headed with Obama as President… and a democrat Congress.

Check this out: “"We're spending large sums of money to kick highly qualified gays or lesbians out of our military, some of whom possess specialties like Arab-language capabilities that we desperately need. That doesn't make us more safe." (Obama to a reporter)

Asked what he could reasonably accomplish for the gay community as president, Obama said he can "reasonably see" repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy as well as signing legislation to ban workplace discrimination against gays.

So how do I get the return of the draft from these remarks by Obama? Easy. We have a volunteer military. All they have to do to ensure the return of the draft is stop volunteering. If you don’t think “straight” American men will refuse to serve with homosexuals in the US military you are seriously deluding yourself.

Yes, I know some serve with homosexuals even now. That is certainly because the homosexuals keep their sexual orientation to themselves, as best they can. But it is extremely difficult to do in a closed society of young men with raging hormones and adrenalin and testosterone pumping and flowing.

Once homosexuals are serving openly in the military, “straight” soldiers, Marines, airmen, and sailors, will simply not “re-up” and enlistment, as a result of recruiting, will drop like a stone and dwindle away to nothing. The military will be seriously crippled. When that happens, the country will be left with one option only, conscription, otherwise known as “The Draft”.

Actually there is one other option, but I don’t see the American people anywhere near ready for it. I’m referring to mandatory military service for all young men and young women in America. No options. No serving in the Peace Corp as an option. I mean serving a minimum of two years active duty with the US military. No college deferments. You graduate High School and you go straight into the military for two years, minimum. After that… you can begin your private life.

Actions have consequences… some are unintended. The government has been warned time and time again, by our military leaders, that should the Congress pass laws allowing homosexuals to serve openly in the US Armed Forces, it will destroy the Esprit de Corp and the size of the standing military will immediately dwindle, and the quality of the service offered by the personnel will drop precipitously. In other words it will destroy the finest military on the planet! That’s the bottom line.

John Luddy is a former Policy Analyst at The Heritage Foundation. He wrote an article back in 1993 entitled: “The Military Gay Ban: Why Don't Ask, Don't Tell Don't Work” You’ll find it at:

Mr. Luddy says there are three detrimental effects of homosexuals in the armed services that form the basis for the ban. They are:

1) Unit cohesion is weakened.
2) Professionalism is undermined.
3) The risk of AIDS in the services is increased.

He goes on to explain each effect. He concludes: “Congress should resolve this issue by passing a law affirming that homosexuality is incompatible with military service, and giving military commanders authority to screen and discharge homosexuals under any circumstances.”

Nevertheless, the political Left seems bound and determined to continue their social experiments on a captive group of social guinea pigs… the US Military. I can only wonder at their continued ignorance of all things military. It also reinforces my belief that mandatory military service for US youth is the way to go. I can’t help but believe that once some of those young “lefties” begin to experience the military life, as it actually is, they will change their tune and begin to rethink their insistence on experimenting with a society, the military, which is so entirely different, from civilian society. Education and experience has a way of doing that.

And this is just one more reason not to vote for Mr. Obama.

If I were a young man, just out of High School, I’d be searching for a college, or university, which offered a degree in “Audiology”.

If there is anything certain, besides death and taxes, it is that we have an entire generation of young people who will be deaf, or near deaf, by the age of 30 and a fellow with a degree in “Audiology” can make a fortune selling hearing aids!

Can anyone explain the burning desire of young people to share their music with other folks living two and three blocks away? Can you explain their generosity with the audio systems in their automobiles on the highway? What is this pathological urge to blast their music (I’m using the word “Music” here generously and graciously!) across five or six lanes of traffic to burst thru the windows of your car and cause your teeth to hurt?

Having asked the question, I will now attempt to shed some light on the subject before my young neighbors get home from school and start blasting the neighborhood with the sounds of jungle drums, or voodoo rituals in music.

What we have these days is a generation of self-centered, narcissistic, rude, crude, hedonists masquerading as members of a social society, which claims to actually care for one another! Whew! I feel better all ready!

Some of the amplifiers in automobiles today have more power than the Hiroshima bomb! If you are ever unfortunate enough to find yourself behind one of those $1500.00 cars with a $3000.00 sound system in it, watch the truck lid. Every time a bass note is struck the lid vibrates and nearly flies up. Now, I ask you, if the impact of that sound wave can nearly knock a trunk lid off it’s hinges, then what kind of damage is it doing to the eardrums of those near-humans in the passenger compartment of the car? Huh?

What possible good can come from a sound system that causes the floor of a home, two and three blocks away, to vibrate and the windowpanes to rattle?

Talk about air pollution! What ever happened to “Disturbing the peace?”

I recently saw that the US military is seriously investigating the use of sound waves as a weapon of war. I can testify that it will do a great deal of damage to the enemy, starting with the loss of his sanity. If the military is, indeed, serious, I have a young neighbor, two, or three, blocks away; I’d like to introduce to them! Give this kid one amplifier and the entire Iranian, or North Korean, armies will surrender in short order!

I have a friend who spent much of his life among the” mentally challenged” and even today resides in a group home. He is now in his mid sixties. Turns out he is as smart as the next guy. The problem was, all these years; he is deaf as a post! Which leads me to wonder… if all the blank faced young people, we see all around us today, are not really as dumb as they appear. Could they just be deaf?? (Maybe 50 - 50?)

As I said… somebody is going to make a fortune off hearing aids!

Seal the US Southern Border… NOW!

Well, well, well, Mexico is offended that we are going put up a wall along our southern border to stop them from breaking and entering our, I repeat, OUR country!

The utter gall of Mexico is astounding! They have been using the US as their very own welfare department. US dollars flowing south across the border, carried in the pockets of Mexican illegals, has sustained that country for entirely too long. It is way past time for the US to pull the plug.

I’m tired of the invasion of our country from the south. If the wall doesn’t stop them, sew the adjacent fields with anti-personnel mines. Harsh, you’re darned right it’s harsh! We can’t seem to get the message through their government’s skull that we want it stopped. And stopped now!

Not only does the Mexican government not make any effort to stop it, they encourage the illegal crossing of the border into OUR country. The government of Mexico may have to be reminded of just how often we have found it necessary to send our military down there to get their attention. I must tell you, anti- Mexican feelings are such, currently, in the states, that pressure is building among Americans to do just that… again.

Add to that frustration the growing feeling that US businesses and/or private citizens who are hiring the illegals for cheap labor need to be charged with a felony and slapped with humongous fines, or jail time, or both.

The flooding of OUR country by the ungrateful, demanding, country of Mexico has all but destroyed any amicable feelings we Norte Americanos have for our southern neighbors.

The hiring of a PR firm, by the government of Mexico, to polish up the Mexican image among the Yankees, is only going to hack us off even more. Now, not only do we feel invaded, but we also feel used, and we are fed up!

The US federal government apparently doesn’t want to stop this illegal flow of Mexicans north and the flow of US dollars south. If they did, they COULD stop it.

If Mexican immigrants wish to enter the US, then let them get in line with all the others, and enter legally, and we’ll be glad to have them. But breaking the line, and unlawfully crossing that border, and losing themselves amongst our population, must stop, and it must stop quickly.

Illegal immigration WILL, I repeat, WILL, be a factor in the elections. It will continue to be a huge factor until we elect federal officials who will put a stop to this invasion.

Look, we have huge unpopulated deserts (to one degree or another) in the southwest within which we could locate a number of internment camps. I’m for rounding these illegals up and, instead of sending them back across the border, put them in those internment camps and have them do maintenance labor along our highways, in our state, and national parks, and whatever we need done for the upkeep of public lands and infrastructure. After, say, 20 years of labor, they can then apply for citizenship or, continue to receive our largesse… in the internment camps.

Just sending them back across the border absolutely does not work! So, don’t send them back, keep ‘em, and force them to work to pay for their upkeep.

Drastic? You bet! But so is the problem they are perpetuating.

The anger you may detect here is just an echo of the deeply felt anger of Americans.

We have a problem on our hands that can be stopped, fairly easily, by our government. The frustration we feel is not only with Mexico, but with our own government as well. The invasion can be stopped, almost overnight. All it takes is the will to do what needs doing.

It is so bad, and the federal government is responding so poorly to the requests for help from the States along that border, that there is a very good chance that those states will take it upon themselves to seal their portion of the border with National Guard troops. If a state, such as California, wishes to keep their southern border open to Mexico, then I suggest we offer to give the entire state of California back to Mexico! Then the states surrounding what USED to be the state of California can then seal their borders with what will have then become a part of Mexico.

The next US Presidential candidate who runs on a platform of sealing the southern US border with Mexico WILL get the votes of the US southern states. That’s how serious it has become.

Washington, Mexico, we are serious about this. We demand action be taken in a timely manner to secure our southern border. US taxpayers are tired of supporting TWO countries! Enough is enough!
