Unrepentant Commies

I have known a few Communists in my time. The worst of them are the unrepentant ones, still aglow from the 1960s and 70s when the college campuses and streets were filled with protesters of every description. Others have unhappy memories of the FBI keeping track of them. The best of them had an epiphany at some point in their lives and realized that they truly were, as Lenin called them, “useful idiots.”

I have a tenuous link with one of them, Mark Rudd, because he grew up in the town where I lived most of my life and even attended the high school from which I had graduated ten years earlier. Maplewood, New Jersey had been, in my time, a solidly Republican community, a bedroom town for New York executives who caught the train every morning for the commute.

That began to change imperceptivity as young Democrats began to move in during the Kennedy years and thereafter. In time they gained political control and many of my generation, thanks to ever rising property taxes, began to move to Florida or, in my case, one town over to a new apartment complex.

Once years ago while I was in the bank in Maplewood, I ran into Mark Rudd. We exchanged a few pleasantries, but nothing memorable. By then he was no longer a fugitive from the FBI for having been one of the leaders of the infamous Weather Underground, a group that included Barack Obama’s longtime friend and associate, Bill Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dorhn.

Though he didn’t directly participate, Rudd knew of a Weather Underground plot to plant bombs at an officer’s club at Fort Dix in 1970 to protest the Vietnam War. When the bombs instead went off in the New York townhouse, killing several of his friends, Rudd concluded that dying senselessly while planning to kill others for a “righteous” cause was not the way he wanted to end up.

Just ask any of the Vietnamese who were lucky enough to escape and to come to America after the fall of Saigon how they feel about his righteous cause. To this day they embrace the veterans who fought there and the nation that took them in and granted them its precious citizenship.

Rudd, however, is an unrepentant communist. His friend, Bill Ayers, has referred to himself as “A communist with a small ‘c’” as if that makes a difference. It doesn’t.

The shooting in Tucson roused Rudd to pen an opinion published in the Jan. 16 Washington Post. It was titled “An ex-Weather Underground radical on the Tucson shootings and political violence.” He recalled that, in 1970 when he was 22 years old, he knew of the plot “and to my eternal shame, I didn’t try to stop it.” Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

“I considered myself an agent of necessity in a political revolution”, wrote Rudd and then added that, even if Jared Loughner was insane, Rudd was sure “he convinced himself that he was doing what needed to be done.”

This is Rudd’s great insight. It is a conclusion that only someone on the farthest reaches of the Left could arrive. It is the conclusion of someone who had decided to devote himself to the nihilistic, atheistic, and totalitarian dogma of the Left.

“As the Weather Underground believed in the absolute necessity of bombs to address actual moral grievances such as the Vietnam War and racism,” wrote Rudd, “Loughner might have believed in the absolute necessity of a Glock to answer his imagined moral grievances.”

For Rudd it was not hard to come up with “moral grievances” when he was in his twenties and his “guerilla hero” was Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara, a notorious killer of Fidel Castro’s political opponents. There was nothing heroic about Guevara. He was a psychopath for whom the Cuban communist revolution was just an excuse to indulge his murderous fantasies.

There are somewhere around eighty to ninety million Americans who own guns without coming to the conclusion they have a moral right to use them to kill for any other reason than self-defense.

After the Tucson shooting, the local citizens could not get to the gun stores fast enough to buy guns for their own protection. After Barack Obama was elected, many Americans decided they needed a gun.

Rudd is like many former youthful revolutionary wannabes of the 1970’s with fantasies of changing America to become a new worker’s paradise. These days, decades later, he is married and the father of two children. An article on his website says he is a registered Democrat, but usually votes for the Greens.

After surrendering to the FBI in 1977, he faced only misdemeanor charges. He was fined $2,000 and spent two years on probation. His mother famously asked, “How could you do this to me?”

In 2006-2008, Rudd was a leader of the Movement for a Democratic Society, a network based on his days in the Students for a Democratic Society. Rudd is still a communist along with Ayers, Dohrn, and Jeff Jones, a former Obama “czar” who resigned when people found out.

In 2008, three MDS members, Tom Hayden, Barbara Ehrenreich, and Bill Fletcher, Jr., founded Progressives for Obama, which Rudd endorsed.

The sad part of this is that the Washington Post thought his commentary was worth publishing.

He repeated the calumny against Sarah Palin that she rightly deemed “a blood libel.” Moronically, Rudd concluded that though Loughner was “the product of a different era and may have been motivated only by his madness” his anticipated incarceration will give him “a long time to consider the logic of his alleged actions.”

Insanity defies logic. That’s why it’s called insanity!

Rudd has had over forty years to consider the logic of his commitment to communism and has not arrived at a conclusion that he was ever wrong or that communism is a failed system that exists only through coercion and terror.

He and his friends from the 1970s surely took pleasure in the election of President Obama who was mentored in his youth by Frank Marshall Davis, a card-carrying member of the Communist Party U.S.A.

The spontaneous Tea Party movement devoted to the Constitution and the repeal of Obamacare must be a mystery to Rudd.

As his generation passes from the scene, one can only hope that a new generation of young Americans, passing through a period comparable to the Great Depression do not embrace the communism that many of that earlier era thought was the answer to capitalism.

It wasn’t then. It isn’t now. Liberty, the reason for the American Revolution, is the answer and always will be.

Excerpt from the US Constitution:

Article III

Section 1: “The judicial power of the United States, shall be vested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The judges, both of the supreme and inferior courts, shall hold their offices during good behaviour, and shall, at stated times, receive for their services, a compensation, which shall not be diminished during their continuance in office."

Section 2: "The judicial power shall extend to all cases, in law and equity, arising under this Constitution, the laws of the United States, and treaties made, or which shall be made, under their authority;--to all cases affecting ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls;--to all cases of admiralty and maritime jurisdiction;--to controversies to which the United States shall be a party;--to controversies between two or more states;--between a state and citizens of another state;--between citizens of different states;--between citizens of the same state claiming lands under grants of different states, and between a state, or the citizens thereof, and foreign states, citizens or subjects.”

In the event you were not aware – “the Constitution grants Congress power to create and abolish federal courts, although the United States Supreme Court is the only court that cannot be abolished. Congress also has the authority to determine the number of judges in the federal judiciary system.” (SOURCE)

Earlier this year, Newt Gingrich called for the complete abolition of the Ninth Circuit Court. Gingrich was speaking to the annual gathering of the Conservative Political Action Conference at the time. Referring to an action by President Thomas Jefferson, Gingrich said the “judicial reform act of 1802 abolished 18 out of 35 federal judges, over half…I am more cautious than Jefferson. I would only abolish the Ninth Circuit Court.” (SOURCE)

You may disagree with Mr. Gingrich but, frankly, he may be onto something here.
The Ninth Circuit Court is the biggest of all the federal courts. It is based in San Francisco and it is heavily liberal. This particular court is a pain in the posterior to all things conservative.

Back in November of 2009, Gingrich is reported to have said: “It is constitutionally permissible, for the legislature and the president to say to a court, you are intolerable, and you no longer exist. And we need that debate because I am tired of secular fanatics trying to redesign America in their image.” (SOURCE)

I could not agree more!

Just this week (Tuesday, October 27th, 2010) the Ninth Circuit Court ruled that Arizona couldn’t require proof of citizenship in the United States when registering to vote.

“A three-judge panel for the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Tuesday struck down a portion of an Arizona law requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration. The court held that the law, Proposition 200, was inconsistent with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA), which was passed with the intent of increasing voter registration and removing barriers to registration imposed by the states. The NVRA requires voters to attest to the validity of the information on their registration form, including their citizenship, but does not require them to provide additional proof of citizenship. Proposition 200 went beyond the federal statute, requiring applicants to show proof of citizenship before registering to vote.” (SOURCE)

Now, maybe I’m a little slow on the uptake here, but doesn’t that effectively mean that non-citizens will be allowed to register to vote, oh, say, in the 2012 Presidential Election – not just in Arizona -- but also in all fifty states?

I realize that I am “Old Fashioned” but I was taught, and I still believe, that voting is a privilege granted to citizens of this country. In my opinion, a non-citizen should never be allowed to vote, in any country’s elections, under any circumstances.

On the other hand, if you happen to be the Democratic Party and you need all the votes you can get to gain and/or hold onto to power in a “Socialist Republic of America,” then you do everything within your power to allow all the illegal aliens you can squeeze across our southern border into the US and then grant them the privilege to vote in order to keep you in power. See? Makes all the sense in the world!

And the dems wonder why we are mad as hell? Like it, or not, THIS is the way this latest action by the federal court is being viewed and understood by Americans.

I visited my barbershop the morning of this writing, for a haircut, and even before I arrived the conversation had begun. The disgust and anger at the Democratic Party, the disgust and anger at the Obama Regime was flowing like a river of acid! Men and women were openly venting their anger at the loss of their freedom, the loss of their country and they did not mince words.

Everyone agreed that the United States of America is now a socialist country heading, as straight as a Martin to a gourd, towards communism. There was no discussion, pro and con. It was a declarative statement. There is RAGE out here -- and it is no longer simmering.

Everyone agreed, men and women alike, there will be open rioting in the streets of the US before the next election in 2012.

In my naiveté, I had thought this election, on Tuesday, would let some steam off and the anger level in America would subside, at least a bit. But, now, I am not so sure. This white-hot anger runs deep, at least here in the southern states. I am convinced you will see that on Tuesday evening.

By the way, it is rarely noted, but Arizona is a southern state. She stood with the Confederacy during the “late unpleasantness” of 1861 through 1865. Recently, the remainder of her former Confederate sisters see her as being “put upon” by the federal government and, frankly, we do not like it – at all.

Actions, such as the ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court referenced above, which will allow people who aren’t even supposed to be in the country, and, indeed, are already criminals, to vote, is viewed as nothing more than the heavy hand of an oppressive socialist government intent upon establishing a totalitarian regime and crush any resistance to their efforts.

Southerners have been in the vanguard of every rebellion against totalitarianism and oppressive government on the shores of this country -- even before it’s founding.

Southerners are kind, gentle, soft-spoken, hospitable, God-fearing people – right up til you get us mad.

As a Southerner, myself, I can attest that we are not mad, we aren’t even angry. We are LIVID!

Thanks to the Ninth Circuit Court even more southerners will be going to the polls to vote against the Obama Regime and the Democratic Party on Tuesday. We can do no less for our sister state of Arizona nor for our sister states above the Mason-Dixon line.

I am asked, occasionally, why I harp on ObamaCare so much. The answer is simple. America was sold a bill of goods. I should probably qualify that last statement. Only those Americans who bought into the idea of Obamacare, as Obama and the liberal-socialists who make up the modern Democratic Party presented it, were hoodwinked. Most of us who are clear-thinking adult human beings saw through the scam from the beginning and warned and warned and warned against it. We TOLD you what it was -- and is -- and we told you what it would do to America, as a whole, and to you and I as individuals.

Many did not believe us, choosing, instead, to believe they could have something for nothing -- when the truth is – THERE IS NO FREE LUNCH! Everything costs something and in the case of ObamaCare the cost is the freedom of the American people.

ObamaCare is a lie, one of the biggest lies ever told the American people and one of
the biggest lies/hoaxes ever perpetrated upon any nation on the globe. It was -- and is -- a grand “CON.” It is founded on Marxism and is, in fact, Socialism. But it is more than that – much more. It brings America to the threshold of becoming a police state.

In an editorial piece at the Washington Examiner entitled “Obamacare is even worse than critics thought” the writer says the following: “Six months ago, President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rammed Obamacare down the throats of an unwilling American public. Half a year removed from the unprecedented legislative chicanery and backroom dealing that characterized the bill's passage, we know much more about the bill than we did then. A few of the revelations:

Obamacare won't decrease health care costs for the government. According to Medicare's actuary, it will increase costs. The same is likely to happen for privately funded health care.

As written, Obamacare covers elective abortions, contrary to Obama's promise that it wouldn't. This means that tax dollars will be used to pay for a procedure millions of Americans across the political spectrum view as immoral.

Obamacare won't allow employees or most small businesses to keep the coverage they have and like. By Obama's estimates, as many as 69 percent of employees, 80 percent of small businesses, and 64 percent of large businesses will be forced to change coverage, probably to more expensive plans.

Obamacare will increase insurance premiums -- in some places, it already has. Insurers, suddenly forced to cover clients' children until age 26, have little choice but to raise premiums, and they attribute to Obamacare's mandates a 1 to 9 percent increase. Obama's only method of preventing massive rate increases so far has been to threaten insurers.

Obamacare will force seasonal employers -- especially the ski and amusement park industries -- to pay huge fines, cut hours, or lay off employees.

Obamacare forces states to guarantee not only payment but also treatment for indigent Medicaid patients. With many doctors now refusing to take Medicaid (because they lose money doing so), cash-strapped states could be sued and ordered to increase reimbursement rates beyond their means.

Obamacare imposes a huge nonmedical tax compliance burden on small business. It will require them to mail IRS 1099 tax forms to every vendor from whom they make purchases of more than $600 in a year, with duplicate forms going to the Internal Revenue Service. Like so much else in the 2,500-page bill, our senators and representatives were apparently unaware of this when they passed the measure.

Obamacare allows the IRS to confiscate part or all of your tax refund if you do not purchase a qualified insurance plan. The bill funds 16,000 new IRS agents to make sure Americans stay in line. (SOURCE) We suggest you read the article at the Washington Examiner in its entirety.

ObamaCare is socialized medicine through and through. In an article posted on April 4th, 2010 by Austin Miles at Great Minds Think Right.Com and entitled “We did it!” Communist Party Newspaper on Obamacare” Mr. Austin says the following: “The People’s World is a direct descendant of the old Communist newspaper, the Daily Worker, first issue published by Long View Publishing Co.in1924. Like The Daily Worker, People’s World states that they, “are unashamedly Communist.” They acknowledge their affiliation with the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and the Young Communist League. When Obamacare was rammed through, the People’s World proclaimed, “We did it! Yesterday’s historic vote on health reform sets the stage for future victories.” Catch that? WE (The Communist Party) did it!...and sets the stage for future victories, which means of course, Marxism for America.” (SOURCE)

According to a recent Rasmussen Poll 61% of US voters favor repeal of ObamaCare. (SOURCE) Rasmussen also says: “A strong majority (60%) feel that under the new law, the cost of health care will go up. Only 13% say costs will go down, and 18% say they will stay about the same.” (SOURCE)

As we were writing this commentary we learned the President has contacted a number of religious organizations and asked them to help sell ObamaCare to their parishioners and members, etc. I cannot speak for you, but if my pastor were to take to the pulpit and begin to expound upon the benefits of ObamaCare for me and for the country, I’d leave the pew and head for the door! (Where are the “separation of church and state” zealots now, huh?)

What we have, dear reader, is a socialist government in power in Washington D. C. It must be excised just as one rids one’s body of a cancerous tumor. If it is not removed from our body politic it will kill it as surely as that cancerous tumor will kill the human body.

Thank goodness, surgery is scheduled for November second.

In their continued crusade to cover the Obama Regime’s rear-end, the mainstream media is proclaiming the Mid-Term Election (in November) to be all about the US economy. They made their pronouncement, of course, after it became clear the democrats will LOSE BIG in November and could, in fact, lose control of BOTH houses of Congress.

Here’s the truth: This election IS about the economy – IN PART. But even more important, it is about the President’s attempt to “fundamentally transform” America from a constitutional republic to a socialist banana republic sewer. This is the concern upon which all the other troubling worries about the state of our government are founded.

Yes, the Mid-Term election will be a referendum on our radical socialist President, Mr. Obama. It will be about his bringing socialized medicine to America. It will be about American’s belief that he has abused his executive office with excessive use of the executive orders, which by-passed Congress, which is the legislative branch of the government.

The Mid-Term election (in November) will be about the question of whether or not Obama is legally qualified to even be President of the United States. Those sincere concerns are STILL swirling about the country with Americans openly wondering why he doesn’t put them to rest by simply verifying, with his original birth certificate, that he really is a natural born American and not, as some suggest, a Kenyan.

And there is more.

The most important election in the history of the United States, the Mid-Term election in November, is about the Obama Regime surrendering to international terrorism in the War on Terror. That includes his bowing to foreign leaders of other lands. That act demeaned the American citizen as no other has ever done. It has not been forgotten or forgiven.

It is also about his open denial of “American Exceptionalism.” American’s believe their country is a nation with a mission and that mission is to be the example, the “shining city on hill” that all the nations of the earth can look to for guidance, assistance, and succor. America is NOT “just another country.”

November’s election is about Obama and the democrats raping and pillaging the US Treasury and spending our children, our grandchildren, and THEIR children, so far into debt that generations will pass before Americans will ever be anywhere near debt-free again.

The all-important Mid-Term election is about Americans taking back their government -- and their country -- from a socialist regime with strong Marxist tendencies. It is about taking America back to its basic fundamentals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is about rejecting the slavery of Socialism, Progressivism, Marxism, Communism, and left-wing Liberalism.

In a little over eight weeks, Americans will go to the polls in this extremely important election about the profound differences between the philosophy of the Democrats and the philosophy of the Republicans. No Democratic Presidential Administration and Democratic controlled Congress has ever made those differences so clear and concise as the Obama Regime and the current Democratic controlled Congress. The GOP is for freedom and the democrats are for slavery under a socialist government. That fact is now blindingly clear.

This election is, plainly and simply, about whether America remains free. It is about the restoration of limited government, a responsive government, and a responsible government.

The Mid-Term election is about sending a crystal clear message to the US government that they govern ONLY with the “consent of the governed!”

Yes, the election is about the economy, but it is about so much more, so very much more.

This November, Americans intend to notify their government, through the ballot box, of their determination as Americans to LIVE FREE … period!

Madam Speaker Unmasks the Ugly Face of Socialism

Back in the 1950’s, while still a lad in high School, I delivered a speech at the University of South Carolina. I don’t remember a great deal of what I said in that particular speech, but I remember I called notice to the dangers of socialism and communism -- and the danger of an all powerful government they both demand.

I remember, too, that I mentioned how socialist governments, such as the one in the socialist Soviet Union used the power of the government to keep their citizens in check, in line, if you will. I mentioned how the secret police of the Soviet Union would come knocking at the doors of their citizen’s homes at the “dead hour” (3 AM), smash it in -- and drag the would be dissident off to the Lubyanka Prison – and if he/she lived through the interrogation, would, quite likely, wind up in a gulag prison somewhere in the frigid climes of Siberia, there to work for the state while valiantly trying to remain alive.

Living in the socialist Soviet Union meant toeing the socialist line. One thing, which was never tolerated by the state, was disagreement with the state. If one dared to openly disagree with the government of that socialist country, you would be investigated, immediately, and fairly soon you would find yourself in the bowels of the Lubyanka Prison -- or some other suitable site for “intensive interrogation” -- then on to digging latrines in the frozen ground of Siberia.

So – what does this have to do with America today? I assure you it has more to do with the situation we Americans find ourselves in today than I care to dwell upon. But we will dwell upon it for a few moments.

Unfortunately, America finds herself on the threshold of just such a society ruled over by socialist thugs in charge of our government in Washington, DC.

We are all aware of the debate over the attempt to locate an Islamic Mosque, just 600 feet from the ghastly hole in the ground of New York City where the World Trade Center stood, until a handful of Muslims brought it down by crashing two loaded airliners into it killing nearly 3,000 innocent Americans including men, women and children.

Recently, the President of the United States announced, pointedly, and publicly, his support for the placement of that mosque so near the still tender scar on America’s soul.

An overwhelming majority of Americans have voiced their disapproval of that particular site for an Islamic mosque. Islam was the religion of those Muslims who hi-jacked those planes and deliberately flew them into the Twin Towers committing mass murder in the name of Islam. Some of the voices raised in disapproval are those of prominent citizens. They joined the protesting voices booming from the conservative side of the blogosphere including the voice of “yours truly.”

Just last week, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, a democrat, suggested that those who disagreed with the placement of that mosque at Ground Zero should be investigated.

When I heard what the Speaker had said, my blood ran cold. This was exactly the same thing I had warned the audience about, back in the 1950’s, at the University of South Carolina. I was just a high school kid then, but I already, instinctively, knew way down deep, where I live, that socialism was a product designed and manufactured in Hell and marketed by Satan, himself. I knew then, as I know now, that socialism is nothing more than a pleasant looking façade for pure evil.

Speaker Pelosi’s suggestion that those who disagreed with President B. Hussein Obama’s position of support for the Ground Zero Mosque should be investigated is straight out of the socialist handbook. Never, ever, disagree with them! They will make every effort to destroy anyone with the temerity to disagree with their “statist” philosophy.

Speaker Pelosi’s suggestion to investigate those, like myself, who disagree with Obama, is just one link in the chain of socialist slavery with which the democrats are working, tirelessly, to shackle America. They are making it known they are coming after anyone who threatens their hold on power.

As the American Mainstream Media has voluntarily pledged their fealty to the socialist government of B. Hussein Obama, it is the conservative voice of the blogosphere that presents the most vociferous challenge to Obama, Pelosi, and Reed and the socialists in the American government. We have NOT escaped their notice and, rest assured, they are coming after us anyway they can.

The democrats have guided America into socialism and they are now very afraid Americans will turn on them and snatch the reins of power from them. They are in a state of near panic while the level of anger toward them, and what they have done to America since 2006, has risen to an explosive level. That explosion is set for detonation on November 2nd of this year – and the democrats know it.

Publicly, the democrats deny it, while privately they are sick at heart over their blow-hard, narcissistic, President who has not only embarrassed them, but may have led their mutual political party to near destruction.

Indications are that the democrats are just now coming to realize Americans are not ready for socialism on a par with the socialist states of Europe. They already knew that my generation of Americans would never willingly accept socialism without a fight. They also knew that my generation could be counted on to vote -- at every election.

As our national leaders observe the quiet rebellion of its citizens exercising their constitutional right to assemble and petition the government for redress of their grievances -- under the banner of the Tea Parties, they react outwardly in surprise and anger. That is their public reaction. Privately, they know the game is over and their over-reaching gamble to turn America from a constitutional republic to a socialist sewer has failed.

It is incumbent upon the American electorate to hammer the nails into the coffin lid of the Democratic Party’s attempt to “Fundamentally Reform” America into a “collectivist” socialist state. We can do that by going to the polls this coming November and voting as many democrats out of office as we possibly can -- and voting against new Democratic Party candidates seeking office, as well. Doing so will insure they cannot perpetuate those socialist programs they managed to activate since 2006 –and that includes ObamaCare.

In addition, we must make absolutely clear that we insist the GOP, once bestowed with the power of leadership, defunds and repeals those socialist programs with which the democrats have yoked America.

The GOP must understand that if they try and fail, or if they refuse, America will be very unforgiving and will vote them out of office, as well. The stage will then be set for a thriving third party, which will replace one of the two major parties in existence today -- just as the Republicans replaced the Whig Party in the 19th century.

As a young High School student in the 1950’s I intuitively knew this fight was coming. Now that it is here – we must not fail.

One can only conclude that America finds herself in the current mess as a direct result of ignorance. “Ignorance of what,” you ask? I must answer, “Ignorance of practically everything.”

I concluded, early on, the election of Obama was a direct result of ignorance. Ignorance of just how politics works in America as a result of no education -- period. Ignorance as a direct result of education received in the government schools, and just plain old willful ignorance – choosing to be ignorant of politics in America, by electing not to involve oneself in the distasteful, and sometimes less than sanitary job of maintaining America’s freedom.

Ignorance of America’s colorful political history, and that of the world, is much to blame for the Obama Regime’s continued acceptance by vast numbers of Americans. But, I am happy to report that number is growing ever smaller as each day passes.

Ignorance of history, as well as of current events, among the populace of any country, can lead to consequences that are truly awful. Take the election of America’s first socialist government, for instance. The election of 2006 turned our national legislature into a socialist machine bent on creating an even stronger central government with all the power it could grasp. Then, in 2008, the capstone of socialist victory in American politics was the election of Barack Hussein Obama. He promised fundamental change in America. The politically savvy in America understood he meant to lead America into out and out (pure) socialism. And he did.

Even today, the average democrat voter will deny the existence of a socialist government in America. They simply do not recognize it. I am convinced that ignorance stems from the fact that they were not taught the US Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the genius of America’s founders, and the love of a free constitutional republic that led their ancestors to lay down their lives to protect and preserve the freedom granted by that constitution. That is ignorance.

Back in the day, before teacher’s unions, American students were taught the fundamental concepts of American democracy and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. We learned, as students, that life in America is a priviledge. We learned that freedom is not free, it is preserved by Americans who know its value, even if it means laying down their lives in its defense.

Students also leaned the immeasurable value of The Founding Documents, the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and the all-important Bill of Rights. They learned that The Founders said what they meant and meant what they said when writing the constiturtion. Students also learned that the US Constitution is a document for the ages. It is not a living breathing document subject to change at the whim of those citizens who live under its protection.

No longer. Today we graduate students wo cannot read their diplomas, who cannot find Canada and Mexico on a map, and have no idea what the Constitution or the Bill of Rights are! They have no clue that the Bill of Rights limits the role of government in the daily lives of Americans. If they did, there would be riots in the streets all over America today.

These are the Americans who placed the "so-called" democrats in charge of America’s government. I say “so-called” because those of us who have dabbled in politics, all our adult lives, understand that those in charge of the US government today are not democrats as they would have you believe. They are socialists, Marxists, communists, and progressives.

So – how WERE they elected? They were elected by people who genuinely thought they were voting for democrats, and by people who don’t care what kind of government we have so long as their place on the government dole is protected and their “hand outs” continue to arrive every month, and by those who were interested only in the power that would accrue to them if socialists controled the US government. The latter could not have accomplished this feat without the ignorance of the former, whose votes they knew they could count on.

Ignorance is a dangerous, dangerous, thing. We, here in America, are only just re-learning this lesson.

This is truly the Golden Era of Ignorance in America. If we survive the damage it has done, we must begin all over again teaching our children what it means to be an American under the protection of the original US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

If we cannot repair the current public education system in America then we must trash it and build a new one in which the federal government and federal dollars have no part – and -- unionizing teachers is illegal.

We Americans must purge our Congress and the White House of socialist, Marxists, communists, and progressives at the ballot box and reclaim our country. If we do not -- America will have earned its place on the dust heap of history.

Obama’s nominee to the US Supreme Court lamented the “decline” of socialism in the United States in her undergraduate thesis at Princeton.

Elena Kagan titled her thesis "To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900-1933.” In her writings Kagan expressed her sorrow that infighting caused the decline of the early socialist movement in New York. She asked why the "greatness" of socialism was not reemerging as a major political force.

US Solicitor General Kagan went on to say the following: "In our own times, a coherent socialist movement is nowhere to be found in the United States. Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of capitalism's glories than of socialism's greatness." She continued: "Why, in a society by no means perfect, has a radical party never attained the status of a major political force? Why, in particular, did the socialist movement never become an alternative to the nation's established parties?"

Kagan further lamented the infighting within the Socialist Party: "Through its own internal feuding, then, the SP [Socialist Party] exhausted itself forever and further reduced labor radicalism in New York to the position of marginality and insignificance from which it has never recovered.”

While echoing Obama’s mantra of “CHANGE,” Kagan went on to say: "The story is a sad but also a chastening one for those who, more than half a century after socialism's decline, still wish to change America. Radicals have often succumbed to the devastating bane of sectarianism; it is easier, after all, to fight one's fellows than it is to battle an entrenched and powerful foe. Yet if the history of Local New York shows anything, it is that American radicals cannot afford to become their own worst enemies. In unity lies their only hope." The US government consists of three branches: The Executive branch (The President), the Legislative branch (The bicameral Congress made up of the US House of Representatives and the US Senate), and the third branch, which is the Judicial (the Supreme Court).

Currently, socialists control the Executive and the Legislative branches of our government. The nomination of Ms. Kagan for a seat on the Supreme Court raises the question of whether we are about to see the infiltration of socialism into the third branch of our government. If so, the socialists will have a grand slam. The entire US government will either be controlled by, or heavily influenced by, socialism.

The fact that Kagan will be the youngest member of the court implies that she will be there for a very long time.

Will she confirmed as the next Supreme Court Justice? Of course, she will. The socialist tidal wave in the Senate and the lack of spine in the GOP will ensure her a seat on The Court. Remember, the socialism issue was not raised when she went through the confirmation hearings before she became the US Solicitor General. We should not expect it to come up now. However, hope springs eternal, I suppose.

There was a time in this country, and not so very long ago, when the taint of socialism spelled defeat for anyone seeking a position of power with the US government. No Longer.
Unfortunately, the American people have become so dependent upon government the door was swung open wide and socialism was invited in. The great underclass of Americans, who have been wards of the government for generations, laid the foundation for a socialist government in America. Now, America is just another mediocre country in the socialist dung heap.

The push for a new constitution for the United States of America has begun.

We have all hear the expression “A Living Constitution” – meaning the constitution of 1787 is a document that should be interpreted by taking into account and consideration that Americans live today in different times, not in the 18th century when the current constitution was first drafted. And many will claim the 21st century American is much more sophisticated than his ancestor who fought a world super power to gain their freedom -- and won, and then drafted a constitution, created a government for a country that would show the way to people seeking freedom anywhere in the world, and would, reluctantly, become the police force of the planet.

You know, if the current leaders of America had just a tiny portion of the integrity and sophistication of the men who framed the constitution, they would revere the constitution those 18th century “rabble-rousers” created. They would recognize that it was, and is, an American constitution for all time, and that includes today. They would also recognize that it deserves protection from the likes of those who would gut it, re-interpret it, and re-write it into some limp, compliant, document that would say whatever the leaders of this country WANT it to say WHEN they want it to say it. In other words, there are those in America today who would use a “Living Constitution” against the people of America – in a heart beat! It would no longer be a protector of Americans it would become a weapon to be used against Americans by ruthless leaders who don’t give a whit about the liberty and freedom guaranteed American citizens by the original US Constitution.

Unfortunately there is a growing clamor from the Political Left in America for a new constitution. Frighteningly, their numbers are growing. Many politicians in power today are amongst them -- as are many in the judicial community across America -- and even among the federal judiciary.

Before we continue, allow me to assure you that I am not among those who advocate for a new constitution nor do I believe the US Constitution is a “living document.” No, I believe the original constitution is responsible for making this country great. It has made Americans the freest people anywhere on the planet today and as far back in history as you care to look. Even today when Americans are enduring a period of financial uncertainty, we are still the most prosperous people in history. The original US Constitution made that possible.

The original constitution placed restraints on the government of America and those restraints allowed the American people to be, as the US Army used to say: “…
All they could be!” As a result, America became one of the most creative nations in history.

For many decades there has be a rather large number of Americans who have sought to crush America’s liberty, America’s freedom, and create a so-called “New America.” They seek to create a “collectivist” society in America. WE call it Socialism. For many decades those people have pulled the strings of their marionettes in our national government – and they have done it from the shadows. Now, however, their marionettes are in high positions of power within the US government.

Their actions tell us they intend to kill off the America we know and replace its government with a government not shackled by the democratic process, a government free of the burden of acting as representatives of the American people. Ultimately, they intend to replace the US constitutional republic. They will remove all control of the government by the people. America will become that proverbial “Socialist Dung Heap.” The constitution will be dead.

When we Americans look about, at our country today, we can readily see she bears little resemblance to the America of five or six decades ago. There is a reason fore that.

There are a number of Americans today who believe that the Shadow Government has been slowly, but surely, maneuvering a judicial form of government into place in America. Think about this -- more and more laws are being made by the federal judiciary than by the national legislature, the Congress, these days. In many case, judges legislating from the bench were appointed to their current positions for life. They are going to be there for while and they are doing a great deal of harm to our country. But, they have little to fear from the electorate as they, themselves, were not elected, and will never have to stand for election.

On the surface, America’s legislative process appears to be the same as always, but it is becoming more obvious, as time passes, that the responsibility for making America’s laws has been slowly shifting to the federal courts.

America is a nation in jeopardy of losing itself today. The original constitution, which has been the protector of our freedom and liberty since 1787, is in deep trouble today. There are those among us who would shred it, in a heartbeat, to get what they want – unbridled power. It is the duty of every American to protect the original constitution from the forces of evil at work in our government today.

America is in need of rescue today. I contend that she has never, in her long history, been as threatened by power hungry men and women as she is today.

Ben Franklin, one of the founders of the country, told us they had given us a Republic, and he added these important words: “… if you can KEEP IT.”

As I write today, there is serious doubt that modern Americans are up to the challenge of safeguarding America’s liberty, and freedom. You may question how I can say that. I would counter by asking, how else, then, do you explain the socialist government in Washington, DC, today?

I will be going to the polls today to vote in the Primary Election here in North Carolina. I intend to vote for the most conservative candidates on the ballot. If we are to save America, THIS is where we begin.

Dear US Reader:

Repealing ObamaCare will be a HUGE task for Americans. Can we do it now that so much damage has been done to our country?

There is no doubt that the Obama Regime has so damaged the US that it will take generations to repair those damages and recover. Some of the damages are permanent.

I remain of the opinion that the US will not survive another two decades as a single fifty state entity. The differences are much too great for Americans to continue to live together in harmony as we have in the past. The wounds are too great and much too deep.

Mr. Obama has delivered on his promise to “fundamentally change America.” In his short time in office he has managed to drive a wedge between us that can never, in my opinion, be removed.

I now accept that Obama is a “transformational president.” The physical evidence is such that I can no longer deny it. All one has to do is look about. American went from a constitutional republic to a socialist state in just a few months under Mr. Obama’s Marxist rule.

Next time you have access to a dictionary, please look up the word “socialism.” The definition you see there will match what Obama has done to America to a “tee.” I checked several dictionaries before I used the word in the first article I wrote about the changeover in America to socialism.

Reflections on a National Disaster

There is no question in my mind that I have lived long enough to see everything the nation once stood for in our own eyes and in the eyes of the world begin to disintegrate and fail.

John Adams, for those who slept through history class, was America’s second president, and one of the Founders who participated in the writing of our Constitution. If you worry about deals made behind closed doors, you are herewith reminded that the Constitution was written behind closed doors. Though the room in Philadelphia had its share of lawyers, the man who presided over the process was a soldier and farmer called George Washington. Others included farmers, physicians, and even clergymen.

Along with Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, the sharpest mind among them was that of John Adams. After the ratification of the Constitution, he warned that “a Constitution of government once changed from freedom can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.”

The healthcare bill is freedom lost forever. I hope I am wrong, but I now doubt it will be repealed, nullified by the states, or reversed by the Supreme Court. While it is true that most constitutional scholars believe it is unconstitutional, taking and twisting the Commerce clause beyond recognition, I believe the damage has been done.

I freely admit that, before the vote, I remained hopeful that, even if enacted and signed, it could be overturned, but I am now less confident of that. In retrospect, the entitlement society that began in the depths of 1930s Great Depression and has been expanded ever since has proven to be the slow poison that will undo our constitutional system of government.

Conservatives have long warned against the excesses and delusions of liberals, but we have also seen self-identified conservatives like former President George W. Bush preside over the expansion of Medicare with a prescription program that defied any manner of funding at a time when Medicare and Social Security was known to be going broke.

In 2005, Bush did try to mend the system for the vast redistribution of wealth by campaigning to allow workers to divert some of their Social Security into private accounts as a hedge against old age and illness. When Nancy Pelosi said this was a plan to unravel public pensions, the voters decided they didn’t like that idea.

I confess I have tried in my mind to dismiss the Speaker of the House as just some lunatic, fringe advocate for liberalism run amuck, but like a lot of Republicans today, it is clear that she was underestimated (along with the Senate’s Harry Reid) for her political skills.

She engineered a political victory that has not only restored President Obama’s reputation as a leader on the domestic front, but has set in motion the destruction of America’s frail financial foundations.

Few believe that the U.S. can continue to borrow the billions necessary to maintain Social Security and Medicare. The alternative, of course, is to tax all Americans to such an extent that it destroys the middle class and drives more corporations offshore.

Speaker Pelosi eat, drank, and breathed Democrat politics from birth. Her father, Thomas D’Alesandro was a congressman and mayor of Baltimore. Her brother was also a mayor of Baltimore. She made her first public speech at age seven at her father’s swearing in ceremony.

I opened with a quote by John Adams and will close with one by Thomas Jefferson:“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”

Americans, however, have long since abandoned the principles of the Constitution, a small and limited central government, for a behemoth that now controls our very lives through a bill that vastly expands the federal government and gives it the power to intervene between our physicians and ourselves.

We have been betrayed by an insurance industry that will be happy to rid itself the high risk and costly need to provide health insurance while continuing to prosper from life, property, and other forms. We have been betrayed by the pharmaceutical companies now salivating at the prospect of future profits funded by the taxpayers. The American Medical Association supported healthcare reform; a betrayal.

Even the States, many of which now want to protect themselves from even greater unfunded mandates, have long since abandoned their sovereignty by allowing the federal government to control education, highways, environment, and a myriad of other local responsibilities.

None of the institutions of government, not the executive, not the Congress, and probably not the courts will uphold a Constitution now distorted beyond recognition. Despite the usual talk of a new revolution, of midterm elections to return power to the Republican Party, the People are essentially defenseless.

Tell me I am wrong. Then tell me why.

Obama’s Ideology Threatens America ...

I began this week with a small remnant of hope that the Democrats/Progresssives/Socialist/Marxists in the US House of Representatives would fail in their under-handed, lowdown, and sneaky attempt to pass ObamaCare into law WITHOUT it ever having passed the House by a vote. But as the days have passed it is becoming ever more clear that that is exactly what they are going to do.

We have warned our readers over and over that America under the Obama Regime has become a Socialist republic, not unlike the Democratic Socialist Republic of the former Soviet Union, or the current Democratic Republic of North Korea. America is no longer a constitutional republic as it has been since The Founders of our nation gave us the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.

In less than a year and a half, Obama has fulfilled his campaign promise to “FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE AMERICA!”

My friend, Alan Caruba, sees the destruction of America very much as I do. He has written many articles warning of the same dangers. Below is a recent article of Mr. Caruba’s. Please read it, digest it and determine, today, to get involved in the movement to save America and return her to her former constitutional republic status as our forefathers intended.

We CAN save America at the Ballot Box this coming November by voting the Socialists and Progressives and Marxists out of office.

Obama’s Ideology Threatens America

During what can only be hoped will be the final struggle between the socialist and capitalist approach to health care the debate is focused on the cost of Obamacare, its impact on the nation’s economy, its legislative over-reach, and the fact that it will ration care. If Obama wins, America loses. The “reforms” will ultimately end up killing people who would otherwise have survived illness or injury if it is implemented. Beyond that, Obama’s efforts to control large segments of the economy will pick up momentum.

An entire generation or more of Americans who did not live through the Cold War waged against the former Soviet Union or saw the rise of communism in China are unaware of the toll it took on humanity. In a 1997 book, “The Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression”, published by Harvard University, it set the death tolls at 65 million in China, 20 million in the Soviet Union, and so on. The total worldwide exceeded 100 million.

This week Americans will see if their system of government works to represent their will. When it controls the provision of health care, the government will literally have life and death authority over people.

Those who voted for Obama, giving him a fairly slim margin of victory, and those who instinctively sensed something terribly wrong in the man have now had their worst fears confirmed. If our system of government works, it will reject Obamacare because that is what it was designed to do. The Constitution is structured to slow down the passage of a really bad law and to create obstacles to bringing it to a vote.

Only an administration with a totalitarian inclination would go to the lengths we’ve seen to pass a law that 75% of the people reject.

Obama is driven entirely by ideology and it’s the same one that motivated Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, and the other dictators of the last century.

Ideologically, Obama is a communist whose views were shaped by a communist mentor in his youth. He is a true believer in the economic and social views of communism that government must control all aspects of the individual’s life and owns the fruits of his labors and earnings.

Over the years the voters have elected representatives and senators who subscribe to socialism since its introduction during the FDR era. Speaker Nancy Pelosi does not have to concern herself with the nearly 80 members of the Progressive Caucus. She has no Republican votes. It’s the other Democrats who are giving her fits.

Beyond Obamacare, there are other issues that are directly affected by his ideology and at the top of the list is the belief that the economy must be destroyed in order that a new set of governing principles be imposed. It is astonishing how the power of the executive and a highly centralized government facilitates this.

No element of government rule is safe from Obama’s clique of leftist “czars” installed to direct the various departments of government. From attempting to seize large portions of land for federal control to threats to regulate carbon dioxide, the heavy hand of socialist goals can be seen. The administration moved swiftly to acquire control over General Motors and Chrysler instead of allowing them to go through bankruptcy for restructuring. Its “stimulus” program not only isn’t producing jobs, the number of jobless grows with every passing month.

Obama’s most troubling ideological threat to the nation is in the area of national security. In his book, “Courting Disaster”, Marc Theissen documents “how Barack Obama has exposed (CIA) secrets to the enemy, unilaterally disarmed us in the face of terror, and invited the next attack.” Another attack would be the opportunity to declare a national emergency and impose martial law.

Regarding the CIA interrogation program that produced invaluable intelligence about the structure of al Qaeda as well as its plans for more attacks, Theissen notes that “in his first forty-eight hours in office, President Obama shut the program down.” That is not the act of a man whose very oath of office requires that he swear to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” and, by doing so, protect its citizens.

The President’s ideology and that of his Attorney General blinded both to the obvious idiocy of extending Constitutional rights to enemy combatants, men not even protected by the Geneva Convention rules of warfare. The announcement that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed would be tried in New York City produced instant and widespread outrage.

Outrage has also been demonstrated by the thousand and more TEA Party (Taxed Enough Already) groups that have sprung up around the nation. Their protests are being heard despite the effort of the mainstream media to marginalize them. The best thing Barack Obama could do for his nation would be to submit his letter of resignation as President. He’s not likely to do that because he is too busy trying to destroy America.

Well, the BIG Push is on to ram ObamaCare through the Congress and down the throats of the American people.

Obama is jetting around the country holding pep rallies to try to gin up support for the “Bill from Hell” -- Socialized Medicine. You should know these rallies include ONLY Obama supporters and ObamaCare supporters. The wild enthusiasm is staged for your benefit to, hopefully, give you the impression that ObamaCare is supported by the majority of Americans. The truth is – it is NOT.

These rallies are all propaganda. It’s “The BIG LIE” told over and over again just as the Nazis in Germany did to convince the people of an entire country they truly desired the socialism of the Nazi Party. I must tell you Joseph Goebbels, the Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945, would be proud of the Democratic Party in America today. The Obama Regime has taken a page from the leftist Nazis of the last century on how to brainwash an entire nation into believing a lie. A lie that, once accepted, will spell the absolute doom of America.

The Democratic Party, by itself, simply does not give a damn! They are interested in two things and two things only -- and that is to maintain their hold on the government of the US and to ensure their reelection. They simply have no sympathy for what the American people truly want. Plus, THEY DON’T CARE WHAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANT! All that counts is what they, the Democrats, want.

It is called “Command and Control.” A strong central government in charge of a “command and control economy” is their dream -- and it is their goal. They intend to reach that goal no matter what -- even if it means shredding the US Constitution.

Those of us on the right vowing to throw the Socialists and Marxists, masquerading as Democrats, out of the Congress this November had better watch our backs. The dems are quietly lining up the resistance to our movement and between now and November the right will come under attack, intensifying each day as the election draws nearer and nearer.

They are quietly conspiring with the less literate democrat voters and those who, for generations, have depended on the government welfare dole for their existence. Their intention is to flood the polls in November of 2010 to offset and overwhelm the anti-ObamaCare. These “wards of the federal government” will be flooding the polling places, everywhere in America, to dilute the opposition to ObamaCare and defeat the efforts to save the constitutional republic we know as America. Their intent is to create, once and for all, a Socialist/Communist America. And they may very well succeed!

For years those of us who have had the foresight to see the Socialized Medicine Bill for what it is, even though it is wrapped in the pretty package of ObamaCare, have worked tirelessly to expose it as a true Socialized Medicine Bill anchored in Marxism and Communism.

There are times when this scribe feels as though I am standing in front of a wall shouting the warning at the top of my lungs only to have it bounce back onto myself with little, if any, effect on the people whom the Bible describes as a people who have “stopped their ears.”

I must admit to weariness and fatigue and frustration, as the realization sets in that the masses of ObamaCare advocates, like lemmings, have chosen to follow their own Pied Piper -- this time straight over a cliff and into a Marxist/Communist hell-like oblivion.

During this fight, I have gained a better insight into Noah’s dilemma. He preached over and over the warning that a deadly flood was coming and would wipe out every man, woman, and child – but to no avail. As the story goes every one was killed except for the handful aboard Noah’s Ark.

America is on the verge of collapse. The final step ensuring that collapse is the passage of ObamaCare.

The title to this article was taken for one of Ronald Reagan’s speeches. It is as true as truth gets. Ronald Reagan, the icon of the conservative movement in America, understood the fundamental truth of the Founding Fathers of America.

The Founding Fathers of America understood that a strong central government would never work in a republican form of government, the form of government they gave the American people. They knew that. They had just declared the independence of Americans from the “strong central government” of King George of Great Britain. They understood that for Americans to thrive and become a great nation of great people the government should provide one thing… freedom. They knew the American government should provide security from any and all enemies that presented a threat to the freedom of the American people so the American people could make the seeds of liberty grow and flourish.

Meeting in Philadelphia in 1776 they labored to create a constitution, the bedrock foundation of this nation, dedicated to the idea that the people would control their own destiny, not the government, that the people would make or break this experiment in democracy, not the government, that the labors of the people, known as business, would be free to create and manufacture, to sell, and to create wealth and keep that wealth or distribute it as they chose, not the government.

The constitution is as simple a governing document as has ever been written. It was drawn up to protect the people of this country from its government. Our Founding Fathers had just turned their backs on government, which had insinuated itself into the lives and businesses of its colonists to the point that those colonists rebelled and said: “No more!” With the constitution, the Founding Fathers put in writing the limits of the new American government.

For the past 234, or more, years the constitution has been a fly in the ointment to the political left everywhere on earth. When a people yearning to breath free, anywhere on the globe, look for a way, for a pattern, for directions on how to set up a non-repressive government, they turn to the US Constitution. There must be a reason. There is. Because it works!

Today, however, Americans themselves are ready to toss the constitution overboard and cling to a government, drunk on power and ready to do exactly the same thing King George did, insinuate itself into every aspect of the American people’s life. So bent on desecration of the constitution are they, that 52 % of the American voters cast their ballots for a man who declared his allegiance to creating a strong central government, which will take away the freedoms, the liberty, our forefathers fought, bled, and died to give us. They declared their overwhelming willingness to toss the democratic form of government in favor of a socialist form of government, which will guarantee cradle to the grave security. They voted “yes” to exchanging liberty for security. They voted to turn their backs on all the heroes of American history to follow in the footsteps of the Pied Piper of Socialism now President of the United States of America.

Again, let’s turn to Ronald Reagan for clarity. In 1964 Reagan said the following:

“It's time we asked ourselves if we still know the freedoms intended for us by the Founding Fathers. James Madison said, "We base all our experiments on the capacity of mankind for self government."

This idea? That government was beholden to the people, that it had no other source of power is still the newest, most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man. This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves. “

Reagan went on to say: “The Founding Fathers knew a government can't control the economy without controlling people. And they knew when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. So we have come to a time for choosing.
About financial security, Reagan had this to say: “There can be no security anywhere in the free world if there is no fiscal and economic stability within the United States. Those who ask us to trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state are architects of a policy of accommodation.”

Reagan wound up this jewel of a speech by saying the following: “You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.”

The question I would ask today is… have we done all we could do? It seems to me the multi-billion dollar bailout of our financial markets should be filed under “Controlling the people by controlling the people’s economy.” National Healthcare (Socialized Medicine) is, unquestionably, controlling the people in every facet of their lives.

As I view the America the voters of this nation created in November of 2008, I am inclined to say that, indeed, we have, just as Reagan warned, sentenced our children to a thousand years of darkness.

Change is not always good. This “changed” America is definitely not as good as the America we had before we decided to exchange freedom for socialism.

Today, Americans are just beginning to awaken and learn the nightmare they are experiencing is not a nightmare one experiences during REM sleep. In fact, they learn, to their utter surprise, they are NOT sleeping. This nightmare is NO DREAM. It is REAL. And, it was brought on by Americans who THOUGHT they wanted, and yes, even NEEDED change.

Many of the votes that were cast last November for “change” were votes from young people who had no idea what they were trading and what they were getting for the trade. They are the product of a public education system in America now almost totally ruled over by the political left, which still seeks the Nirvana of Utopia through Socialism. After 12, or more, years in the public education system, then 2 to 4 more years in those bastions of liberalism/socialism we refer to as colleges and universities, is it any wonder their Pavlovian response in the voting booth was to pull all the levers by the names of the candidates who were decidedly left-wing candidates? Hardly! They were simply reacting to the stimuli implanted in their malleable minds as they made their way through an education system designed to do just that.

And now, some six months after the deed is done, we are just on the cusp of the avalanche of hurt coming our way as our country is about to collapse around us.

Those of us who knew socialism’s sad story of lies, deceit, and destruction are not surprised at America’s precarious position today. We knew it would happen. We have watched socialism from its birth. We watched socialism’s struggle to grow while it murdered its host country all the while. Like a physician trying to heal a patient, by draining the patient’s body of all its blood, socialism drains a nation of it’s life-giving force and leaves it a broken shell of its former self. Even as robust a nation as Russia required assistance from former enemies, just to survive, after throwing off the bonds of socialism a few short years ago.

Pope Pius XI once said: “It is wrong to withdraw from the individual and commit to the community at large what private enterprise and industry can accomplish. So, too, it is an injustice, a grave evil, and a disturbance of right order for a larger and higher organization to arrogate to itself functions which can be performed efficiently by smaller and lower bodies.”

Now we are observing this “wrong,” and this “injustice,” Pope Pius XI warned of, play out right before our eyes here in America.

The “old” America was truly “something else!” She was a dream. She was a land of unlimited opportunities and horizons that went on forever. She was the envy of the world!

Americans were optimistic people who threw themselves into the task of firing the furnace of the engine of democracy and delighting in the rewards of their own labor. The “American Dream” was so big and so multi-faceted that no one could describe it!

One British author, John Keegan, described America this way:

“Left to themselves, Americans build, cultivate, bridge, dam, canalize, invent, teach, manufacture, think, write, lock themselves in struggle with the eternal challenges that man has chosen to confront, and with an intensity not known elsewhere on the globe.

Bidden to make “War” their work, Americans shoulder the burden with intimidating purpose. If I were obliged to define the American mystery, I would say it is the ethos - masculine, pervasive, unrelenting - of work as an end in itself. War is a form of work, and America makes war in a particularly workmanlike way. I do not love war; but I love America!” - John Keegan, author of “Fields of Battle: The Wars for North America” is a British military historian, lecturer, and journalist.

Mr. Keegan had it right This is what America used to be like. And for those of us who STILL remember her, as she was, today’s “changed” America is a bitter pill to swallow!

“In the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie…”

Who wrote that? The answer is Adolf Hitler in “Mein Kampf”, published in his1925 autobiography. During World War Two the U.S. government’s Office of Strategic Services, which later would evolve into the Central Intelligence Agency, assessed Hitler’s methods:

“His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people would sooner or later believe it.”

I have been reading David Kupelian’s new book, “How Evil Works” and thinking a lot lately about lies, lying, and liars. At the heart of great frauds is the lie and it seems to me that Americans have lately been subjected to a surfeit of lies that began with the 2008 election campaign in which a virtually unknown, first term Illinois Senator announced he was running for President.

“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes” is attributed to Mark Twain and the truth of that is more evident than ever because technology has increased the speed with which lies travel. It has, fortunately, also given speed to those who debunk the lies and the result is a dizzying avalanche of conflicting claims.

Being ignorant of the intent of our nation’s Founding Fathers, of the limitations on the federal government found in the U.S. Constitution, of the deliberate separation of powers in our government’s executive, judicial, and legislative branches, and of history in general puts people at a disadvantage to recognize a threat to the nation and their freedom.

Edgar Watson Howe, (1853-1937) a newspaper and magazine editor in the early years of the last century said, “Americans detest all lies except lies spoken in public or printed lies.”

I think he was reflecting on the influence of the broadcast and print media of his day, but it is no less true today. Most certainly, the presidency is an enormous platform for the person holding the office to advance policy by telling lies.

A President, however, who is perceived to be a serial liar, soon begins to lose credibility and popularity. President Obama’s credibility and popularity has fallen at an astonishing rate in just over a year in office.

It is worth noting, too, that the credibility of newspapers as a source of objective reporting has been in decline as the Internet has grown, offering an enormous number of news and opinion websites from which anyone can determine the truth or falsehood of public debate.

The English publisher and writer, Ernest Benn (1875-1954) said, “Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedy.”

We are seeing this play out in the effort to “reform” Medicare by President Obama and the Democrat Party. Even Republicans know that Medicare is in need of some changes to improve the program. Tort reform and the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines are but two improvements that make perfectly good sense to most people.

However, the reform being proffered by the White House is nothing more than a socialist expansion of a government that is already too large and too unwieldy to serve the interests of Americans. It would, as is often pointed out, destroy the best health system in the world and put one sixth of the nation’s economy under the control of government.

In the process of putting forth Medicare “reform” President Obama has told so many lies that it is only with great difficulty that one can keep track of them.

Little wonder that the great historian, Edward Gibbon, wrote that “History is indeed little more than the register of the crimes, follies and misfortunes of mankind.”

No greater modern example of this is found in the global warming fraud. Since the 1980s the deliberate distorting of “science” has been the basis for the Big Lie that the Earth’s overall temperature is rising rapidly and that mankind is responsible for it through the use of coal, oil, and natural gas as fuels for industry use and the production of electrical power.

The greatest lies of the modern era, however, have been communism and its baby sister, socialism. The deaths of millions are attributed to Communism as practiced in the former Soviet Union and in the early years of the Peoples Republic of China. Nazism, a form of socialism, led to the deaths of millions in World War Two.

Nations that have embraced socialism are experiencing serious financial crisises these days. These political systems have proven to be failures wherever they have been introduced and imposed.

The greatest domestic challenge to Americans today is the combination of socialism, a system that has been slowly introduced into the governance of the nation since the 1930s, and the recent election of a “messiah” promising “hope and change.”

Beyond and within our shores, the other Big Lie, Islam, threatens our freedoms and it too must be resisted and defeated.

Today, however, Americans need to embrace the U.S. Constitution as never before. It is our shield against despotism and the lies that advance it.
