US Hit Squads being sent to Iraq! It's about time!

US “Hit Squads” being sent to Iraq! It’s about time!!

Reports in the press tell us the US Defense Department is considering the possibility of sending “Hit Squads” into Iraq, and even a few cross-border excursions into Syria and possibly, OTHER neighboring countries. Their job would be to hunt down and, uh, eliminate the leaders of the insurgency in Iraq and, well, lets just say, other troublesome parties. They will be training Iraqi's to do the same.

I have only one question. Where have these hit squads been??? Seems to me they should have been operating in the Middle East, not just Iraq, for at least three years now. Maybe longer.

This is not a new concept to the US. We used them in South and Central America. It is still referred to today as the “Salvador Option”. There are mixed reports as to it’s effectiveness within countries with which we are not openly at war. Iraq is different. We are in the midst of a raging war there and any option that will help bring us victory is needed… now!

The inter-agency quarreling has to stop. Personally, I don’t care if the CIA runs the operation, or the Green Berets (The US Army) runs it. Just get in there, start killing, and get the job done. One thing: I would suggest a “take no prisoners” policy. Those less than friendly to America, in the US Congress, will no doubt raise all sorts of Cain over this policy as they did the so-called prisoner abuse. To avoid that, simply take no prisoners. At the same time, deny the hit squads exist. Give Presidential Pardons to all the members of the hit squads, no matter from which agency they come. (A Presidential Pardon can be given BEFORE a questionable act is committed.) So, Mr. President, do it now, so those men know they will not be hounded when this war is over.

One other thing: allow the hit squads to cross borders to get at the “mark” they are after. Do not make agreements with governments in the area to allow our men to cross into their country! That would be tantamount to shining a spotlight on our guys as they cross in the middle of the night. Those governments cannot be trusted. So… don’t!

This is long overdue. I commend Sec. Rumsfeld, and the others from the various armed forces, and the CIA, for this decision. It’s a good one … one of the best they have had in a while.

WHHHHOOOOOAAAAH!

Your Obedient Servant,

“Longstreet”
