Bolton, Durbin, and the Sedition Act

Bolton, Durbin, and the Sedition Act.

The Republicans, in the US Senate, fell 6 votes short of winning a cloture vote Monday night (June 20th, 2005) and bringing the President’s nominee for ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, to a vote of the full Senate.

It’s time to stop playing “footsie” with the Senate Democrats.

We urge President Bush to make a “recess appointment” of Mr. Bolton, to the ambassadorship, during the Senate’s upcoming July 4th recess. He can legally do this. Mr. Bolton then WOULD BE the UN Ambassador until January 2007 … WITHOUT Senate approval. By that time we will have had another election and more Republicans elected to the Senate and we can run his name back through the Senate for approval at that time.

And another thing: Censure Senator Durbin. Do so ASAP! An apology is no longer acceptable. Nothing Senator Durbin can say can undo the damage he has done. If he should, by some quirk of nature, feel a twinge of regret, he should resign from the Senate immediately. There is no place in the US Senate for anyone who equates American service men, and women, with the Nazis. No place at all.

And finally, bring back the “Sedition Act”. It was repealed in 1921 because nobody in the US thought it would ever be necessary again. However, the loyalty of Americans to their country is not what it was in those early, innocent, days. Entirely too much harm is being done by loose cannons, in our government, and in our Mainstream Media, to allow it to go unchecked. The Sedition Act would put a serious crimp in the activities of those who wish America less than good fortune.

It is time to start playing “hardball” with the enemies of America.

I was wondering where you were! I enjoy our banter.

The Sedition Act would, as it did before, spell out what Sedition is. It would, as it did, spell out the penalty. The last tme it was 10,000 dollars or 20 years, or both. I expect the monetary fine whould have to be geatly increased these day, though.
