Conservatives Set to "Dump GOP" in '06 Elections
The Post you are about to read was written back in November of 2005. You would think I wrote it yesterday!
But you would be wrong.
When I wrote this post, I decided I would hold it for a few days hoping that I might change my mind or, that I might see some glimmer of hope that the GOP had seen the error of it's ways and was about to harken back to it's roots, to the Conservative voters who put them in control of the House and Senate. So, I placed it in the "drafts" folder to wait and see.
No such luck.
Just this week, finally, someone at the top has begun to notice that we conservatives are more than just unhappy. We are ready to rebell and throw the '06 election to the Democrats.
They are correct.
The problem is, they are way behind the curve on this. We have been "fed up" for well over a year now, but we could not get the attention of the leadership of the party. Throwing the '06 election will, I repeat, will, get their attention. At the moment, the determination to allow the US House to fall into the hands of the Democrat party is a "fait accompli".
As you read the following post, think back to November of last year. We conservatives have not had a revelation, in a burst of light, or an epiphany of some sort. We have arrived at this position by means of astute observation. We have seen where our party is headed and we simply don't want to go there! And we won't.
So, get ready for the Democrats to regain control of the US House of Reprentatives this coming November. It will be a gift from the Conservative Republicans!
Continue to original post:
I sat here, before the computer screen, a few nights ago and shook my head in disbelief as I read how members of my own political party managed to effectively kill a bill in the US House of Representatives which would have reduced spending and opened ANWR for drilling.
Have they no shame? The GOP is headed for relegation to the backbenches again… and soon.
When we (the Republicans) won the Senate, and the Presidency, back in 2001, I told a Liberal friend of mine not to worry, the burden was now on us (The GOP) to perform, and at least, his party would not be catching the dickens for their failures.
Well, as it has turned out, The GOP has proven, beyond doubt, their inability to lead nationally. Our national Republican leadership is pathetic. Worst that weak. It is nearly non-existent!
I am in my mid-sixties and I have been a Republican since I was old enough to register to vote, the first time, at age 21. I have stood by the party through thick and thin, through good times, and bad, including the Nixon imbroglio. But, I simply have to call a spade a spade. My party, the Republican Party, needs to go back to “Leadership School” and learn the fundamentals of leadership.
The GOP has failed to relegate the RINOS to the backbenches and keep them out of any leadership positions… and… they have failed to isolate the moderates… such as John McCain.
The Republican Party used to be the “Conservative Party”. No more. The GOP is running a close second to the Liberal Democrats in Liberality.
It is time for a Conservative Party, made up of disenfranchised conservative voters, from both the Republican Party and the Democrat Party. Normally, I would not support a third party, but we only have one party now. The creation of a Conservative Party would give us a true two party system.
It is too late in the game to expect the GOP to turn the party around before the ’06 elections. As a result the GOP is in for a shellacking in one year from this month.(This coming November.)
The whipping will not be so much by the Democrats… who as a party, are totally vacant and have no clue… let alone any ideas on leading a country as conservative as the United States of America. But, Conservatives are going to stay away from the polls, in droves, and allow the Democrats to return to power in ’06.
We have tried everything else to get the attention of our Republican Party leaders and everything we have tried has failed. They are not listening to the party faithful. and they are not responding to our cries of distress at the way they are leading the GOP and… we have had it.
We conservatives had rather take a beating and have to experience a few years of living under Democrat control in order to purge our party of the “Blue Bloods” and the “Country Club Liberals” we have remaining in our party.
A purge is what we need… and that will take some political bloodletting.
We have been reluctant to take such drastic steps but our party leadership has forced our hand. We have no choice. Throwing the ‘06 election will be the last attempt to save our party.
Frankly, I have very little confidence that throwing the election in ’06 will have much effect on the elite in the GOP. As a result, I propose that we begin laying the foundation for the New Conservative Party as soon as possible.

Longstreet, great post. It seems that we Americans haven't been given much to choose from lately. I, being from Alaska, was outraged to see the ANWR bill murdered, by the sme guys who say that we need to limit our dependency on foreign oil. What the hell is wrong with them? They have two sides of their mouths running at the same time. I can see an uprising in the near future, because we Americans are not heard. Lets see if the Dubai port deal goes through despite majority of Americans oppossing it. Come check my blog out sometime.
Anthony, I have been on your site and I like it. How about sending me your URL address so I can make it a regular stop on my Blog Surfing.
Thanks!
I am glad and suprised to see that you finally aknowledge the failure of the Republican party. 1 party rule is terrible (no matter who is incharge). I am (as a free person) loyal oposition! It is governments job (no matter who is in charge) to expand it's powers.... It is the oppositions job to keep them at bay but for so long there has been no opposition!
"Longstreet,
I agree our party has lost its way;
however,letting the Democrats back
in power is like turning a junkie
loose in a heroin factory. All you
will create is a godawful mess.
Better to deal the scoundals you
know than the 'fellow travelers'
that you also know and fear."

Hoosier: I agree. But we can not get the GOP leaders to respond to the common sense of the poor slobs out here in the trenches! I hate the thought of turning the House over to the Dems, but if that is what it takes to get the attention of our Party and turn it around then we must do what must be done.
For instance... the RNC seems bent on anointing John McCain as the standard bearer for 2008's Presidential Election. We have told them, time and again, John McCain cannot carry the South! Without the South the Republican Candidate cannot win. Yet they persist.
Throwing the House into the hands of the Dems MAY get their attention in time to run a Candidate the South will vote for. If they do THAT we can maniatain the Presidency in GOP hands. If not, it's back to the back benches for another 40 years.
The GOP really needs to shake loose the moderates, such as McCain and Specter, and the blue bloods from the Northeast. Southerners have absolutely nothing in comman with the RINOS from the Northeast. There is a HUGE amount of resentment against the Northeasterners, here in the South, dating back to the "Late Unpleasantness" of the 1860's.
I know McCain is not a northeasterner. Arizona was a part of the Confederacy. The problem is not with Arizona. The problem is John McCain, himself.
These problems just scratch the surface of our concerns over the direction the GOP is currently headed. Southerners didn't sign on for this and we WILL bolt the party, and if necessary, create our own. We've done it before.
What I meant hoosier about a 1 party is you guys control the house, senate, white house, and supreme court (the group that appointed this clown President in the first place) and this is the biggest mess our nation has ever been in! It would take a good strong Liberal leader to straighten it out. We need the government off our backs and these guys have intruded in to my life and it is time to put a stop to it! Maybe we can impeach some supreme court justices when we take back the whitehouse!
