Make US Military a Co-Equal Branch of the US Government... and other Stuff!

Strip the President of the title, and powers, of Commander-in chief.

The US Military has been used, and abused, since the founding of the country. It is time to free them up and remove the leash and let them have their say in the way their lives will be risked in service to this country.

Now that I have your attention, if you’ll stopping cussing at me long enough, you might not think so badly of the idea after you consider it for a while.

Since the founding of the country the US Military has been ruled and led by the civilian government. It was designed that way. It worked pretty well, in the beginning, but that was when there were a few grown-ups in our government, men who were not strangers to a battlefield themselves.

The US Military has been sent to die in sundry places and, so far, they have gone, shed their blood, and come back to booing crowds of the hate filled leftists in, and out, of government. Too often the Commander in Chief, a civilian, is cowed by threats from the Congress to offer any assistance to the military. (Congress can cut-off funds for any military action the President takes as Commander in Chief.) Sometimes the Commander in Chief presents the largest obstacle to success in a military campaign. We saw how that gets Americans killed in Somalia. Equipment to fight in the city streets of Mogadishu was refused our troops by the Clinton Administration and some 18 of our bravest lost their lives. Oh, they took somewhere over 1200 Somalis with them, though.

And, while we’re at it, lets make military service obligatory for a presidential candidate. No military experience, then you can never be President of the US. That would help. Not much, but some.

Now, I can hear the howls of protest clear down here in the swamps of North Carolina. I KNOW it would take huge changes to our constitution. So, let’s get to it. I hear the left’s screams of “militarism” and “destroying the constitution”. Whatever happened to that living, breathing, document they claim the constitution is, anyway? A few changes won’t hurt a living, breathing, document. It's been amended 27 times... so far!

No more long drawn out wars. No more body bags, in the thousands, because some politician in Washington sends our military on a fool’s errand and gets them killed by the thousands. Then… declares it is a mistake and pulls them out without allowing them to practice the art of warfare they have trained for for so long. (See: Viet Nam)

The US Military should answer only to the Constitution they swore to protect.

Look, at some point, we are going to have an ineffective military simply because they are continually demoralized by their civilian masters. Demoralized troops are totally useless on the field of battle. I mean, think about it, they have to be asking themselves why they should risk their lives when, at any moment, the civilians, back in Washington, might tell them to pack it in and leave. Would you want to risk your life for, well, nothing? Neither do they! They should never, never, be told to retreat, withdraw, or whatever the "word masters" call it these days.

The men and women in the uniforms of the United States deserve more from their government. They deserve more from the Americans back home that snipe and undermine their efforts at every turn.

So, lets amend the constitution, remove the powers of Commander in Chief from the President and appoint a military officer as Commander in Chief of all US Armed Forces. The civilians we have running our government today do not have the fortitude to be a commander of armed men. Let’s face it, they’re a joke. A joke that gets good, brave, American Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen killed. It has to stop.

Now, I’m not fool enough to believe that what I wrote above will actually come to fruition. I simply hope there is enough shock value contained within it to get Americans to think seriously about the empty suits we have filling the seats in the US House of Representatives and the US Senate.

This coming November, we have a chance to clean the house. Conservative Republicans are already considering staying away from the polls to allow a Democrat take over of the US House. We can do it. We feel it has become necessary because our Republican representatives are no longer in touch with us and, quite frankly, have proven they are incapable of making the hard decisions we sent them there to make.

We understand this means an immediate impeachment of the President as soon as the Democrats take over the committees in the House. The Senate will stop that, however, so we aren’t seriously concerned about it.

It is quickly coming down to crunch time. It’s time to fish or cut bait. The future of our country, as a free society, is at stake.

I think a Constitutional Convention is called for. We need massive changes to that document which has served us so well in the past. It was written for a country of people who knew who they were, and were sure of their destiny and were sworn to do whatever was necessary to make America a great power. Well, those men are gone now. What we have today can’t even stand in the shadows of the founders of this nation. Multiculturalism has sapped us of our pride as a nation. Diversity has confused us so that we no longer know who we are. And tolerance has opened us up to every vulgar life style of which the human mind can conceive. And all the while the political correctness machine has chipped away at our democracy, replacing it with classic Marxism.

We can change it. But it won’t be easy and it won’t be quick. We’re talking generations of learning who we are, as Americans, and how we got in this mess to begin with.

We must begin without delay… if we are to survive.

Yes I agree, The first Ammendment should as Jefferson himself said "clearly draw a line between church and state." If you don't believe me look at what him and Madison both said about making Thanksgiving a Holiday. They both voted against it said it would illegaly interweave the webs of church and state. The second should also make clear the intent of arms to be kept by the militia in an armery and only an act of congress can enact the militia. We should also strengthen the fourth thru 6th ammnedments. Create an amendment for Privacy of civilian communications at all times, including wars time unless clearly the peson "spied" apon represents a danger. Get rid of income tax on private citizens.... Only corporations make income. Also under privacy amendment include medical, financial, and intellectual privacy. Maybe an amendment barring corporations from making political donations. A right to vote and federal regulations on voting. And maybe for the Confederates at heart, bring back the states right to succede from the union. (although the side for states right lost the war for states rights)

Frank, when Lee surrendered... ALL THE STATES lost their States Rights (as the Founders of the country had intended them). All the states.

Sometime, when you have a few minutes, Google Constitution of the Confederate States of America and just read it. It won't take long. the first thing you'll be struck with is how amazingly like the US Constitution it is. Secondly they made some changes which actually made the Constitution better. (one comes immedialely to mind... the President would serve one six year term... period.)

It also outlawed the selling of slaves cross state lines. The Confederacy had already outlawed inporting slaves from outside the US. (Didn't mean to get into that.)

But, I urge you to check out the CSA Constitution. I think you will find MUCH to like about it.

Your right on. These pussies sit around in their suits, safe from harm, sending young men and women in their stead to gain ground for their own personal agendas. These so-called men have never seen a battlefield first hand, and do what ever they can to keep their children from serving in the military. remember the days when true leaders led their troops onto the battlefield. It is not that way anymore, perhaps a true leader needs to witness their son being blown up by a pussy built I.E.D. , then maybe they will think a little longer about sending our troops to a place that truly does not want stability, because, if they really wanted peace and democracy, than these Iraqi people would have grasp it by now.

You are correct, Sir. I was using a sledge hammer to crack a pecan!

I was trying to provoke thought on how badly our military is treated by our elected officials. It appears as though it worked.

Thanks for your comments!!!

The US Militia is entirely seperate from the National Guard and the Reserves.

By federal Law, all males born in the US are automatically members of the US Militia from age 17 to age 46.

US CODE: TITLE 10
Section 311
