It’s Time to Go Get the Brit Sailors and Marines!

It’s Time to Go Get the Brit Sailors and Marines!
_____________________
This is utter BS. We are at war with Iran even as I write this piece. We have been at war with Iran for (going on five years!) this time. Come on, Mr. Blair, these are your countrymen and they were on duty serving your country, and your government, and they do not deserve to be abandoned as our infamous President did to the American Hostages taken, and held, by Iran during the Carter Administration.

Look, we all know that at some point, soon, we are going to be compelled to attack Iran. That is a given. We also know it must be done during the Bush Administration. The only question is… which country will be the public face of the actual attack. The US, Israel, Great Britain, and probably others, likely Australia, will be a part of the attack when it comes. So why worry about ruffling a few more Iranian feathers?

I am sick and tired of civilized human beings being taken by that bunch of cowards still living in the 12th century! The world has had a problem with the Persians since, well, I don’t think recorded history goes that far back! In any event, Iran is, and has been a pain in the ass to the rest of the world though out it’s existence. Isn’t it about time IT DIDN’T EXIST ANYMORE?!

Forget the UN. The UN is a gelded joke! Leave them out of this. They will only make it worse.

The UK’s Special Ops troops are, if not the best in the world, second only to those of the US. (Frankly, I wouldn’t spit at the difference!) The UK’s Intelligence services are far better than the CIA, the NSA, or any of our Military Intelligence services. Our Leftist leaders in the Congress gelded our intelligence community way back, beginning with the Church Committee. It has never recovered. The point is… there is every reason to believe there are UK Special Forces on the ground, in Iran, preparing to relieve the Persians of their “British Burden”.

In the meantime, the Persians are threatening “show trials” of the 14 men and one woman they kidnapped.

Look, Iran is itching for a fight. They are puffed up with their own pride and arrogance and they have bought into their own propaganda, much as Saddam and his hordes of “elite” Republican Guards. We all remember how the “Mother of all Battles” turned out. Remember the “Highway of Death”?

Currently the US, alone, has enough firepower off shore of Iran to transform Iran into a vast glass-paved parking lot in a matter of minutes.

Mr. Blair, it’s time to turn the tables on the Iranians. Give THEM and ultimatum. “Release the Brits in 24 hours or we attack”. If the Iranians persist, then take out one Iranian city a day until they relent.

I have long since used up my quota of patience with that part of the world and their senseless insistence on being the “thorn in the side” of the rest of the world. They’re a blight on civilization. Rid the world of them and move on!

See sir, you just rewrite history every chance you get. Before the Nov. elections, Ronald Regan sent a delegation to Iran and told the then President of Iran to hold the American hostages until after the elections, to help embarass Carter and uinsure his (Regan's) regime could gain the support of the electorate in this country. His payment to them would be simple, he would sell them (the Iranians) weapons they so desperately needed and the money could be used to do an "end-around" run around a provision the American Congress passed about overthrowing duly elected governments.... He (Regan) funneled the mony from Iran to some South American Terrorist group that was trying to over-throw the Sandinista government.... Oh yeah, the Contras, Hence the term Iran-Contra affair, a highly illegal affair that had a gutless weasle (Oliver North) allowing drugs to be smuggled over the US border also to help fund this illegal operation...... And who, when the investigation was getting close to outting him pardoned, oh I don't know 25 or so people on Christmas Eve, Yeah Daddy George...... I see the corruption in the republican party since the days of the Mccarthy era are alive and well.......

Best Regards sir.....

Once again this is an example of what is wrong. I totally agree with you about the UK troops. This is shameful. Where is our backbone? I'm really surprised at Blair, or maybe not. I am not a Bush fan and feel that he has badly managed this never ending conflict. Are we to babysit the Iraqi military forever? I remember when Ross Perot had guts enough to at least try to get our hostages. And then there is Truman and the Enolya Gay. Where are they now. We are too worried about collateral damage and world opinion. War kills innocent people, but war is hell.It is time the United States of America roared! If Bush and Blair turned the dogs loose maybe someone would sit up and learn what real business is.

I remember all the dinner time conversations about it my Father had, see I graduated in '88 and my father went to great lengths to make sure his kids KNEW what was going on behind the scenes.... And another thing in all reality, since the British troops were in Iranian water (a fact I believe simply because I can't trust Blair/Bush after the WMD fiasco) that would be an act of war and a clar violation of Iranian borders and Iran would have a "God given right" to defend itself.... Just because our borders are open doesn't mean that other nations' are.

Iran made a strategic decision to kidnap Brits not Americans. Americans seem content with Iran killing Americans in Iraq but the American people would turn instantaneously in favor of attacking Iran if our troops were taken.

they chose the Brits to get their point across while not enabling the Bush administration.

But I agree, Blair needs to get his people back. if it means war, then that's obviously what it means.

Frank, we (The US Navy) have the coordinates, the log and lat, of EXACTLY where the Brits were, on the face of the earth, when they were kidnapped by the Iranians. (We were probably watching by satellite.) They WERE NOT in Iranian waters!

Our Navy rattled it's sabers today in Iran's face. It was meant as a clear warning that Iran had better release those Brits.

At all levels, life has become an exercise in what one can get away with. To permit one infraction encourages the commission of many.

During the first Iraq war when civilians were used as human shields there was unrelenting public protests, and quite right that the fate of these individuals was a constant issue in the media, and of concern to the government.

The threat to the 15 hostages - for that is what, in fact, they are - now concerns fewer people. Supposedly for political reasons, Blair wants to diffuse the situation diplomatically. We now have a smaller navy than France for the first time in our history. We are not really in a position to treat with the Iranians by any other means. However, I am quite sure that something ‘special’ is being organised.

I feel sure that we in the UK can count on the unflinching support of our European neighbours and ‘allies’ during this difficult period. The sound of their outrage at this act is deafening!

Thank you Longstreet for your kind words.
