A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

It is not only embarrassing, it has now become tiresome as well. I mean, of course, the bullies of the world taking advantage of our poor little weak, boy/man President.
Shame on Putin! Shame on Assad! Shame on Rouhani! (And double-dog shame on those mean ole rascally republicans!)
We are about to see the results of negotiating from weakness as Obama did with Russia and Syria.
Look. In the real world, of REAL global politics, when you are down -- nobody extends a helping hand. Instead, they slit your throat and leave you to bleed out.
When America is down, the global wolves gather as they would around a lost lamb. That has now begun.
Iran's President, Hassan Rouhani, is putting on a show for the world to observe. After seeing how easily Mr. Obama can be rolled, he has been emboldened and is seeking Iran's turn at the "pinata" called America.
Iran has no intention of giving up their endeavor to acquire a nuclear bomb. If you believe they are, you should disabuse yourself of such lunacy. But -- they are not about to pass up a chance to make Obama and America look the fool in the eyes of the remainder of the world.
The talks with Obama, Rouhani is proposing. is only a "jawing" session. It is all a show, Kabuki theater, nothing more. If Obama agrees to meet, face to face, with Rouhani, the only winner is Rouhani. Suddenly, Rouhani is elevated to the same statue as a President of the United States, at least in the eyes of his people. ROUHANI will have conceded nothing, and won stature.
Great Britain had its Neville Chamberlain, and "peace in our time" which led, almost immediately, to World War Two. Until now the US had avoided making such a diplomatic blunder. With the Syrian debacle that has now been corrected and history will record that it will turn out to be one of the most costly diplomatic mistakes the US has ever made.
This is a part of the price a nation pays for a weak leader, a weak President.
Not so long ago, the American president was regarded as the leader of the free world. Thanks to Obama, that is no longer true. In fact, there is NO LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD at the moment and, as a result, every little tin pot dictator and terrorist, the world over, feels free to exercise his own brand of mischief.
Look. I am by nature an isolationist. If I had my way America would pull back her military to her shores only, and wall ourselves off from the remainder of the world and allow it to go to hell in a hand basket.
Of course, that is not realistic. There is an interconnectedness that ties all mankind on this planet to each other -- whether we like it or not. Just as the US became policeman of the world by default, we also became leader of the free world by default.
Until Obama, America's presidents made rather decent world leaders, even the ones with whom I disagreed. (With the possible exception of President Jimmy Carter)
The moment Obama walked into the Oval Office the Office of President of the United States was diminished. In weeks, the respect for the office had, too, diminished around the globe.
The damage done America and the office of its President by Mr. Obama's "Apology Tour," soon after his 2008 victory, was, and remains, immeasurable. Bowing to foreign kings and potentates may SEEM such a little thing, but it isn't. American Presidents should never, under any circumstances, bow to any power other than God. That was a given -- until Obama. It is that sort of naivete that helped paint Mr. Obama into a corner in his dealing with Russia's Putin and Syria's Assad -- and will, almost assuredly, hand us the dirty end of the stick in any talks with Iran.
The world wants its leader back. Unfortunately, he is on the back nine somewhere and can't be bothered.
"No Drama Obama," is laid back, just going with the flow, as some have said, while chaos ignites a world on the brink of a global conflagration.
If Obama is the standard by which "American Exceptionalism" is measured then there is no wonder that Russia's Putin found amusement in the term.
There is definitely a smell of blood in the water and the global sharks are gathering.
Iran's Rouhani, first out of the chute, has the opportunity to make America look even weaker as he leads Obama around by the nose for the next few months -- and possibly even years -- while behind the scenes Iran's nuclear bomb making continues apace.
Obama's lack of decisiveness, his pronounced dread of any risk at all, is pathological. Our military is floundering because we have a Commander- in- Chief who can't make up his mind, plus he has zero knowledge of military power and how to apply it.
Obama is surrounded by sycophants who insist he is the smartest man in the world. If so, then he has, apparently, out-smarted himself.
The historical revisionist of the left will have their hands full re-writing the history of the Obama years. It would seem they are attempting to get out ahead of it by re-writing Obama's "rolling" by Russia's Putin by making history reflect that Putin's suggestion was, in fact, Obama's plan all along. Of course, it was not. The truth is that Obama was blind-sided by Putin's proposal and, in his desperation for a way to save face, latched onto it with a death grip irregardless of the problems it would create in future negotiating attempts with other rogue regimes around the globe.
Now there is Iran.
Those "chickens coming home to roost," Obama's former pastor spoke of so passionately, are, indeed, heading for the coop. With so much egg on his face, the LAST thing Obama needs is more eggs!
